  1. Lately my 1000/1 amp has been cutting out while playing loud music. right after it cuts out it starts back up in a few seconds. I looked at the amp while it shuts down and its giving the thermal protect light. for the last week it has been cutting off more and more often. Finally last night it bumped the volume up and it shut down and did not turn back on. I checked out my main power fuse from the front battery and it was blown?

    I have a 05 4-runner

    1000/1 v1 powering a 13w7 wired @3 ohm

    stock head unit/speakers

    Big 3

    stock alt

    no extra batteries

    4 gauge power wire

Had a extra optima in the trunk but took it out thinking the amp didn't need it since the 1000/1 has the voltage/ohm advantage but ever since i took the battery out the headlights dim horribly.

Any ideas? maybe power wire is to small?

  2. This is going to be a build from scratch. So electrical will be adressed. My goal Isnt anything crazy. Just want a daily setup that I can beat on with low hertz music (rap/bass test). I just don't want to regret later on not getting something that will truly make the btl's shine since I'm already spending a bunch of money .. Is the electrical upgrade of two 3500's way more drastic than one 4500? And I really didnt think about the life of the subs! Thats a good point! Does it really beat the subs up that much more? Well I guess the most important question is will it be much louder that its going to be worth the more money for amps, electrical etc? If not than i have my answer and i will stick with the 4500D.

Thanks for the fast replys guys :partybanana:

  3. I'm trying to decide If I should go with one SAZ-4500D or two 3500D's to power (2) 18" FI BTL's fully loaded. I had my mind pretty set on the saz-4500D, but Ive read that plenty of guys are running the fully loaded btl's way over 3k each so I dont think that the saz-4500D could get the most out of the two btl's running at normal volts of 12.8-14.5 So what amp do you guys think i should go with or whats the better idea?

    Thanks,

    Mike P.

  4. Thanks for the info hdrox88. That makes the most sence, but by any chance would you happen to know roughly how many cubic feet the box would need to be for the 2 18". I mean it says on FI that the 18's need 5-10 cuft so the bigger the box the better? If you tune the box with the port why does it matter how big the box is? I dont want anything crazy just only what is needed.

  5. I'm trying to decide if I should go with (2) 15" BTL's or (2) 18" BTL's? Its only about $60 more to go with both 18's over the 15's but i would be using the same rms going to them.

what size sub would sound better/louder being they both are getting the same amount of power/rms? Pre-orderig a Sundown-SAZ 4500D

Depends on the box. But really? 15" or 18" whats louder? Please ask yourself that question again.

I did ask myself that question, but since its going to be the same rms maybe the 15" will have an advantage and move more freely and create more spl since its smaller while the 18" would move slower due to more mass??? the confusing part is not the size of the subs. its that they will be using the same rms. idk thats why im asking. And its going in a 2005 4runner.

  7. Thanks alot guys for the quick replys! So 2k rms each would be the most I could run the subs being safe? The only reason I ask agian Is because Ive seen so many 12" BTL's at 3k. And yes I would be willing to redo my whole electrical system for some good o'l bass fing05.gif How much is the sundown 4500d btw? And thanks for warning me about the forsale stuff watt09, but how do I edit that previous post?

  8. Quick little background.....

I'm 19 and own a '05 4runner. I started with (3) 10" mtx's and thought that was the sh*t! Soon I learned about JL,RE,RF etc.. Soon after learning about these brands and their reputation I ordered a 13w7, but soon after purchasing that sub I was introduced to FI Audio. After watching many video's of FI making many customers satisfied I decied to ditch my W7 and order a pair of 15" BTL's.

I know some what about car audio, but nearly nothing compared to some people I've seen on these fourms.

Soon I will be ordering a pair of 15" BTL's, but I'm not totally sure what options I should pick for the subwoofer? I would be using the subs as a daily setup in a custom ported box @ 30-35 HZ . I would Prefer to run them to nearly their full potenial , but also being safe to not ruin them. (In other words getting the right juice out of them)

    1) What would be the most efficient way to run the whole setup? box, power, amp

    2) What is the max, but safe rms that I can run them @? ( I saw that they run the 12" BTL at 3k)

    3) What is the best/cheapest amp setup I can go with to fully power them? (Or reccommended amps)

Please feel free to give me idea's,recommendations etc

Also I have a Brand New JL 13w7 still in the box with reciepts that I've never used that I would like to trade or sell if anyones interested...

    Thanks ,

    Mike p
