eh no love. fun game to play for a quick 20 minutes or so, but for any time longer than that... it gets a little boring in my opinion. sega gt 2002 was a nice one =]

    Second Battery Questions

yeah we understand that which is why we don't exactly understand why the front battery needs to be hooked up to the back at all. and what is the harm/stupidity of going straight from alternator to relay? mechanically... it seems to make sense to me!! but that's why i'm new at this. ha and prepare yourself for a noob question For a week, until the relay comes, could i run just the shuriken under the hood? as in replace my starting battery with it? just i told a bunch of people that i would have the sub running by monday. Now i by NO means need to have it hooked up, as i have learned that in this hobby impatience is truly your worst enemy.

    Second Battery Questions

i already know what his response for that one is. he is going to agree that the starter battery isn't always pulling current. only that when the rear battery is going to ask for like 90 amps, the alt is gonna send it back there and the front will get it too. which i know i already told you and i'm starting to sound like a broken record... i may just do that with dcpower. that's actually quite a good idea. will they be willing to help even though i have none of their products? but i am dumbfounded as well as to why the first battery wouldn't take the charge.. i mean, i understand what my dad is saying and i can follow what he is saying, however, i just trust you and your experience more. ha. funny how that works. i should probably trust my dad, and understand what you're saying.

I know I have a car audio addiction when......

when paying anything more than $5 for a pizza is ridiculous, but paying $500 for a sub doesn't phase me the bit. when you're batteries weigh more than you do When reading 5 page explanations of how to build a sub box or the Linear BL Technologies isn't a big deal, but reading that 3 page sparknotes chapter summary is the end of the world. when that joke of saying "i wish my girlfriend were speakers" turns into a real daydream when you do car audio installs in subzero temperatures <-- i dunno if i'll be doing that one again. frost-nip is not fun my friends when you hear someone of hear of someone with a system and your mind wonders the possibilities that could fit their vehicle. and when you creepily try to figure out what they are running. (it didn't occur to me at the time that having some kid peer through the window of your escalade would look like the kid was trying to break in.) when you don't care that the guy next to you has a ferrari, cause you can hit 150 db on your daily driver (not going to lie, i'd want the ferrari more)

thanks shizzon =] the diagram my dad got was nearly the same. it goes like this (sorry for no pics, i know that would be hella useful) alternator goes directly to input for the solenoid. so just move your wire from starter battery to solenoid over so it goes from alternator to solenoid. Ignition source comes from the ignition switch which the starter battery is also hooked up to. from from the solenoid out to the fuse then to the big battery in the back. any problem in running from just alternator to solenoid?? I kinda think its the only compromise we can reach... i'm going to order that relay tomorrow and hook it up a.s.a.p. however i'm going to look for one on a different site seeing that oznium has them out of stock. and i don't feel like waiting 8 weeks to be honest. great info. man!

    Second Battery Questions

thanks shizzon! i already drew one and gave it to my dad to take to work today, but i would still appreciate yours as well! just to make sure mine and yours match up and just another one (more professional looking no doubt) would help as well. especially since i wasn't entirely sure where to stick the relay. i placed it logically according to the diagram from oznium.com. thanks!

    Second Battery Questions

so to anyone thats following.... my dad asked his electrical engineer that works for him over at ford and now i have to draw a wiring diagram for this guy before he gives any advice. whatever. but yeah, Shizzon could you go into more detail about that? I didn't know that items had a "choice" to get current or not, even if it is fully charged.

    Second Battery Questions

alright guys =] he doesn't really seem to consider anything i say... haha. so after he is home from work tomorrow i'll tell him what Shizzon said and hopefully by tomorrow he would have talked to his own guy at his work and got a response. i think i'll just install it Thursday while he is at work... haha. im really getting sick of this especially since i have this week off of school and i normally never have time between girlfriend, school, and a job to do installs. tomorrow around six thirty ill post the news

    Second Battery Questions

"if the two batteries are connected and the alternator has to send a big load of current to the back battery, it will go through the front battery. and the front battery is not made to hold that kind of current." his thought is two voltage regulators. one for each battery. thoughts? comments? he just thinks the high current required by my shuriken in the back will also be going through/to the starter battery. and that amount of current will be too much for starter. i apologize if this is frustrating for "dammed" and "shizzon" and anyone else who has made a good response. But understand how frustrating it is for me. working to get my setup and six months later i have everything and already installed some wires only to have the vehicle "owner" say "no".

    Hatchbacks

well, to be honest, a cheap blazer will probably be easier to find then a cheap explorer. and no love for the new fiesta. no love at all. have you seen the new focus??? they are a little better looking but probably not in your price range. what about the volvo c30? volvo is american owned!! i think they are rather good looking. the "r" version that is

    Hatchbacks

and to the focus guys up-top, how you like the european focus RS? and have you guys ever seen/heard of/riden in/ driven the ford racing promotional Focus RS-8? it was at a sema show back in... 2003/2004? a certain member on here with a killer rhyming screenname has...... hehe

    Hatchbacks

explorer FTW!! but really, where do you live? I got my explorer because I needed 4 wheel drive. I would literally be stranded in my house for quite some days without it. Is the gas mileage issue going to kill a SUV for your future car? Pick a few models and then ebay and craigslist it EVERY day. I found my 2004 explorer with 28,000 miles for $10,000. which is a gooood price. I mean, the car was so clean. Wire runs are nice and clear for some 0gauge to fit in =] overall its a pretty easy car to do installs in. and your grandfather should count mazda's as ford, as long as its pre 2010 that is. Mazda 3 hatchbacks are good cars for car purposes. haven't had any experiences with them in the car audio world. if you wanna roll in style, how about the jaguar type x hatchbacks?? very very nice vehicles

    Second Battery Questions

woah woah woah, even if i have a 260 amp alternator, i should still do what you stated above? sorry i'm just not sure if you're aware of my alternator or not. and thanks a bunch, i'll run it by him and despite his "opinion" i'm going to hook it up anyways. See his motto is that everything i'm doing just isn't necessary. and i'm like... well yeah, but its fun

    Second Battery Questions

okay. so i'm not doubting Shizzon or anyone on here, i'm sure he is right. Along with Dammed and Jay-Cee but here is my question. So the alternator monitors the batteries right? and sends out the appropriate current to charge them right? and this works flawlessly in a stock system because your starter (and only) battery runs low and the alternator sends out current to charge it. So when you hook up two batteries, the big one in back, and when a heavy bass moment requires lots of power from your after market battery, the alternator sees that it needs to send a lot of current to that second battery right? Well, as my car is and as any car is without some modding, the alternator will send out the current necessary to re-charge the monster after-market battery but it will charge the starter battery with the same amount of current. and of course that starter battery can't take that much current and it will boil over. so, that's my trouble. I'll let you know that this isn't my question. For better or for worse i completely trust Shizzon and would do what he says, however, i'm only 17 and although my vehicle and everything in the system is mine, it still has to be approved father. And if you guys know Mechanical Engineers you probably noticed that most of them are stubborn as hell and even when facing something they don't know a whole lot about, they are always "right". Its very frustrating. If anyone can give me a good answer it would be greatly appreciated. I've been working towards my system since August and i finally have everything i need, just this one issue is slowing the install process. Thanks!!

    Second Battery Questions

Yeah i figured this was the case since on most of the build logs on here people always buy one big battery then a smaller one of the same company. So if i were to buy another shuriken, what would i have to look for? could i just go and buy the smallest one? or should i get one closest to the bt-120? (if thats the case i'm just going to stick the stick the bt-120 under the hood for now because i can't afford to drop another couple hundred dollars. not after valentines day, ha) thanks! all great advice!
  21. I've seen on SSA before that you shouldn't mount an amp sideways because it will mess up how the heat dissipates. by sideways i mean one end of the amp facing the bottom of the vehicle, and the other facing the top. If it is true that this is a bad idea for overheating issues, why? and i need somewhat of a detailed answer; i'm arguing with an engineer and they don't accept "because the car audio professionals said so!!!" thanks and im asking because it would save a hell of a lot of space if i could mount it sideways

    DC Sound Lab Jeep Update

if they are talking about the same autorama that i know of, its a customized car show. mostly hotrods. i'm sure it's a traveling show. if not, it stays in detroit. i don't remember ever seeing many car audio guys there so i'm not entirely sure if that's what they are speaking about. but it's a very highly renowned car show, especially in the world of Hotrods
