    yea definately more money in kicker. lots of kids want the kickers. their name is so well known. so it's a good move on both parts.

    still won't catch me buying anything besides a deck there though :)

    not trying to jack this thread or nothin, but can someone explain the difference between 4th order bandpass and 4th order vented? i read this whole thread and was confused because i thought they were the same thing lol. i thought it was a sub in an enclosure with one side sealed, and the other ported, ending in fairly flat response from like 30hz to 70hz or something (depending on tuning obviously). sorry, im a :noob:

    i know pretty much nothing about mids and highs just to throw that out there. Is there a big enough difference between running mids/highs on 2 ohms vs 4 ohms that is actually worth sacrificing the power to run @ 4 ohms? or is 2 ohms going to be good enough for a daily driver?

    edit: by the way if anyone has a good place to educate myself on mids/highs that would be greatly appreciated.

    Ya know funny thing about that, back when I was installing part time my boss hired a guy that was gonna replace me, he was 26-27 and I was 17, I was diagnosing a noise problem in a vehicle, checking the grounds of course, and he was looking with me and said "Oh found it!" and held up the RCA's next to the power wire, I told him that wasn't the problem and he said it causes noise, I insisted it didn't and he got pissed and left. He came back after I regrounded the amp and the noise was gone, showed him, and that pucker had the balls to say"You moved the RCA's to the other side of the car didn't you!" I told him to prove that it causes noise. He never got back to me.

    I am sorry for anyone that i have bothered with this, i just was looking for some laughs and some conversation, if you wan't me to change anything, do please tell me, it is ok if you are blunt about it just as long as it is informative.

    You've got a very strange sense of humor. I would laugh if I see a guy bail out your car because of the system being too loud(installed properly maybe).

    But that is just disgrace... That woofer deserves more than played in a "door sealed with cardboard and ducktape... :suicide-santa:

    Maybe this looks funny to you, but for us audiophiles... we love your subs and amps. We spend hours and hours a day trying to "take care" of them so they will take care of us when we turn the volume up.

    If you are so bored, why don't your try make a real box? I don't know about you, but with 300$ I can build myself like 2 or 3 boxes.

    EDIT: why does it seem like half the people on this forum are just here to one up people and try to prove they have more knowledge about audio then anyone else? he was just sharing a creative experience he had when he was bored with us. i dont see what is so wrong with putting a sub in a door or cardboard or whatever that is. god damn....

    well from my auto class in high school, my teacher told me that oil companies advertised that you should change your oil every 3,000 miles, but it was only actually neccessary to change every 6,000. But you should really play it by ear. You should be checking your oil regularly to make sure its topped off, so you would be able to see how dirty it is. If you drive your car hard or in harsh conditions/enviornment, your oil is going to get dirty faster. Brown oil isnt bad, but once its black or close to it, its time to change. And with a mercedez benz that costs 40k+, i think a 10 dollar oil change more often than not is totally worth it, right?

    EDIT: the reason that auto companies advertise a 3,000 mile oil swap is to sell more oil

    ok cool. ive done a lil searching here and there but not that much. i just figured since the warden was their flagship spl sub, that the death penalty might be sq or something? but idk... because half the vids i see are people saying OMG LOUD and the other half saying OMG BEAST SOUND QUALITY SKEET SKEET.

    i dont really have any knowledge about the death penalty. I see the warden is the flagship spl woofer, but what would the death penalty be comparable to as far as spl goes? it is an spl woofer right?

    Hi! So I´m planing to buy my first BTL 18" in summer. The amp that i´m going to use is Alpine MRP-M2000, because I dont live in America, I live in eastern europe and amps like hirfonics or sundown are hard for me to get (only at ebay, but this includes high transport costs and i´m not very rich either). I´m right now upgrading my highs and mids and gona buy soon a new alternator so everything is getting slowly ready by the time. But one thing is on what i´m not so sure jet: should I get dual 1 or dual 2? is there all in all any big diffrence? and how i wire them? I´v read many topics on this forum already, but haven´t got any exact anwer.

    My amp, what i´m going to buy:

    2,000 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms

    1,200 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms

    well if you consider "better" to be more power, then you would want to buy the btl with dual 2 ohm coils to wired in parallel down to 1 ohm. but to be honest, if you cant answer a question like that for yourself, im willing to bet you dont have electrical needed to support 2000 rms. you might want to do a little more research before you go ahead and buy that amp and sub. running 2000 rms for extended periods of time is going to require a high output alternator, a couple decent batteries, and 0 guage wire. and you really cant skimp out on buying electrical upgrades, or will fry your amp and possibly the sub. buying all that electrical equipment new might run you up to a 1000 bucks for 2000 rms. ive also heard alpine amps dont put out their rated power, but i cant say for sure. big systems cost big $$$

    Is there anywhere to get refurbished sundown 2000ds that carry a warranty? I would like something to last a long time and that I will be able to maybe run at a higher impedance later for my SQ set up that I am going to do. I am guessing the sundown would be better for SQ right? (only have heard the saz-3000d that was dropped to .5, sounded great though)

    honda civic and race track should not be used in the same sentence lmao. you dont need a spoiler unless your doing 130-140+ mph. and im not going to give your japanese car the benefit of the doubt, i dont think your ricer runs that fast. and if it does go that fast, you should buy a real wing instead of rocking the stock spoiler. that little stock spoiler probably isnt doing you any good to begin with to be honest.

    EDIT: and to actually answer your question, if the wing itself just separated from your car, then that probably has nothing to do with the wing. its probably the bolt or bracket or w/e has it mounted on the car. so buying a higher quality wing probably wont solve your problem.

    well first of i was an audio installer. and have installed various amp and sub combo's. and have worked with alpine type-r subs installs the best install being two type-r 12 in a ported box and a kicker zx1500.1 in to a jeep cherokee dont get me wrong they got nice and loud but compared to my other install of two kicker cvx 12 in a ported box powered by a old school kicker kx1200.1 in a honda accord they seemed louder. to me the type r's are more compared to the kicker cvr's with the type r's being better, but not better than the cvx. So i dont knock alpine at all but comparing the type r to the cvx i would go with the cvx if ur going for spl. And for the person who said comin from the dude with almost everything kicker in his sig the reason why everything is kicker is because my old job had 70% off all kicker products so yeah i forgot to mention my kicker rca's and my kicker 1/0 amp wires and kicker fuse holder with the kicker 150amp fuse....any more reasons to hate?

    lol it doesnt matter why your running all kicker shit, the fact is that you ARE indeed running all kicker shit, so its pretty hard to think your not going to be a little biased towards the product that you listen to every day. and i would definitly call this hating by any means, id call it logic. you see a guy with all kicker shit in his signature, claiming the cvx dominates the type r with no decent explanation or any kind of questions about what kind of car or how much space available, etc., in the car of the person who asked the question. and you cant compare the type r's in a cherokee over cvx's in an accord, the accord is smaller and is going to have more cabin gain! for all we know you could have been burping 50hz tones in the accord and playing music in the cherokee, too, because you didnt even specify. :noob:

    lol.... i concur. I didn't even bother looking cuz that just sounded ridiculously low. If it's true, they aren't real optima batteries...

    i swear they were only 80 or 90. they had the yellow, red and blue top on a display next to the normal batteries and i was thinking fuck why doesnt everyone just buy an optima over a normal battery. ill go look tomorrow or something. maybe i was high.
