The alternator will affect my caps votage ? i thought it just supplied the batteries with more power - so , hmmmm - well - the only alternator I can find for my car is a 150amp for 389$ , but my stock one is 110amp , will the 150 make that much difference " 2001 Pontiac GTP "

So , I just noticed that my power cap volt meter is droping to around 11.04 volts when I have my system pounding to its potential - can anyone tell me what to look for as the problem with this - 11.04 cant be right , its usually around 12.5-13.4 , and it drops that low for only a second . My setup is this : Red top under my hood -> isolator -> yellow top in the trunk -> 1.2 farad cap -> amps " Kicker 4ch 70x4rms " , and " Orion 2400D 1200x1@1ohm " . The cap has been grounded seperately from the yellow top - they each have there own , my system is running 4 ga. wire , power and ground .

I just just bought the VR series 6x9s and 5.25 components - they are sounding amazing , even with 2 of the new KickerCVZ's in my trunk , they still ring loud clear , and distortion free - I have a Memphis 75x4 M-Classs amp on them at about 50%gain. Dont know if this is a help to anyone.

So - I have been askin about 6x9's because I thought I blew mine up - however - come to find out , one of the channels on the stereo actually went - somehow the rear left channel is messed up - I switched to my other deck , and everything sounds beautiful again ... thanks for your opinions everyone , greatly appreciated. Has anyone else ever had a problem like this ?

Does anyone know anything about these brands ? FOCAL 690-CV1 6x9's or the Mmats CX 69 ? will they be better than my Memphis Mseries 6x9's

What about component 6x9's - Like FOCAL , or Mmats brand ?

Its not distortion - I'm a musician - and theres just something i like about the sound - i used to own some kisker components and 6x9's a couple years ago - the 6x9's arent as loud , but they have a little bit of an extra tone - the snare drums have more of that hollow effect , and chit like that - I dunno - by ear it sounds tht way to me.

I would prefer 6x9 for there tone - i already have components in the front - want that different tone in the back though.

You really think those are better choices than the Eclipse or JL - remember - I blew the memphis's " boston ,and pioneers " are even less power.

Ok - I just blew my Memphis M-class 6x9's rated at 75 watt RMS - I have warranty - and I'll get new ones - but Im gonna sell them now - My questions is - what would be a good replacement for them - I am all about good mid SQ - I want a very nice sound quality and handle my amp too - 100 rms x 4 " Memphis " I was looking at the Eclipse SA8394 3ways , and the JL VR690CXi . I really need help picking the right thing - if you have experience with these , please help !! I listen to all kinds of music from " rock , industrial , rap , club ect . "

Ok - so I figured it out - I switched amps and it still sounded like crap - so i knew it had to be a speaker - setting the bal/fade to rear left/right helped me discover that the issue is my rear left 6x9 - but why would one go and not the other , and how the hell did it even go at all when I was under powering it by 20 watts rms. Ahhh whatever , Memphis - guess its time to trade in that warranty - HOWEVER - what do you guys suggest I buy to replace these - I am deffinately getting rid of them - I was thinking ECLIPSE 8394 , or a JL VR690CXi - let me know - thanks !

It was actually fine for the last 4 months though - it only started happening wen i added the 2 cvx's , im gonn go switch my amp to this 2 chnl i have layin around , so i can see if it may just b the amp - brb !

Oh really - thats what was recomended to me by the memphis rep - because my fronts are at 40% and i have it faeded to the front a little to take some of the output from the sub and let the amp do the work instead of the deck - this is what he explained to me , but I will check it out. thaks.

Damnit - I shut the Orion off completly , the y rear speakers sounded fine for about 20seconds with no subs , then they started to distort - i think my amp , or my speakers may be bad , the 6x9s are 85 rms , and my amp pushes 70 rms , and its at 80% gain , i dunno - crap !
