Over the years we have a had a lot of street rod and race car customer come to us looking for a product that could withstand the high temperatures on the engine side of the firewall. Some cars reach levels of 1000 degrees f. and for this application, we had no product to offer them. Now we are about 8 weeks out from releasing our newest thermal insulation mat. This new material is a multi layer composite that can withstand temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees when as little as 2 inches of air space is provided between the heat source and the product. At ¼ inch thick and weighing in at .25 lbs per sq foot this is going to be our best thermal insulation material yet. The …

What kind of car do you think we should buy to properly represent Second Skin in the lanes and on the street? I Personally think we should have an '08 Mustang, midnight Blue, with the second skin logo painted on the hood in chrome colored reflective paint. what do you think? AX

As some of you know, Second Skin Audio had a contest a few months back for "team members." I placed second or something on the ssa forum, and was told I would receive a one time 50% off discount. No where listed was an expiration date. Two months later I needed sound deadener. I sent Ken (owner) an email and asked if they will still honor the discount, he said unfortunately it expired after 30 days, but we would be happy to give you a 25% off discount. I locally purchased the product, installed it, and a few days later glanced over my invoice, I received no discount. ----------------------- A few days later, I posted some slandered statements about Second Skin here in th…

The time has come... round two of our contest to become part of Team Second Skin has arrived! The winner(s) of this round will be put with the winners from the other forums and from that list we will choose at least four to become part of the team. We will also be looking at every person who entered regardless just to make sure no one was overlooked or if there is someone that we think deserves a spot. Please vote for the member or members that you would like to see at meets, competitions, and shows, as well as those who you think deserve to be part of the team and you think would do a great job representing Second Skin. The poll will stay up for two weeks. Let the voting…

Second Skin Audio is happy to announce we are part of a cool full restoration build on a 1989 Nissan 240SX with the awesome You Tuber Kyle of SAABKYLE04. He approached us about getting this old school sports car dead quiet and after checking out his other videos and installs/reviews/builds, we decided it was a darn good match for a sponsored build. Kyle will be getting very detailed with his full restoration and we will share his videos/pics as we get them. He has already completed Part 1 of the restoration and it can be seen here 240SX Resto Part 1 Hope you all enjoy the great content that Kyle is creating for the builders of the world. hey there, I'm attempting to dial out a bit of resonance (there isn't so much on this car), as well as keep as much of the sound inside the car as possible. Would my original plan of damp pro and overkill pro all over the hatch area be good? would adding a product like luxury liner pro (I also figure if i'm doing this i might as well reduce alot of the road noise throughout the car) reduce the volume inside because it will absorb the sound?? I'm starting in the trunk / hatch area, and i think doing the doors and front wheelwells/footwells at the same time. if results are good, i'll continue and do the rest of the car, with Damp prop/overkill pro everywhere, + luxury lin…

So when I watch all the instruction videos on Second Skin's website, and when i look at all the pics of builds, i observe that the silver foil is what you see after the installation. I'm confused because the Damplifier Pro has the black adhesive on the bottom, the foil, and then a thin black top that is glued/attached somehow to the foil. If i take off the wax cover and then install it, I'll be seeing the black cover on the outside and not the foil like all the videos and user installation shows. I'm assuming I should just take off the wax cover, roll it on, and not worry about that small black layer? That seems rather obvious to me, but the videos on Second Skin's websit…

Well, I picked up some deadener from Ant at SecondSkin last weekend so it was time to start the install. I'm doing the floor first since the front doors and trunk are already done. I may pull off the eDead already on those areas because it's been basically a huge nightmare. This is also a good opportunity to clean my interior since the carpet is definitely showing its 12 year age. 80 sq feet of Damplifier, 15 sq feet of Damplifier Pro, 2 rolls of Rattlepad, a quart of Spectrum, and a Speaker Tweaker kit What I started with and yes, my steering wheel has been cleaned since then Just the carpet left Cleaned up with Simple Green and ready for the deadener ze garage …

so i just did the Damplifier Pro on the rear doors. i also used the ensolite foam. WOW what a difference. i used two layers of Raamat on the front doors and all i can say is that there is no comparison. Raamat may be a better deal, but as far as i am concerned i wasted the money spent on Raamat.... cuz now i am going to go back and redo the doors with the Damplifier Pro. DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!!

I have been eyeing secondskin for about 3-4 years now i think and just never got around to using it. I got a 2008 altima 4 door with the 2.5 and well, weight is an issue for me overall. The car is amazing at hauling heavy loads up hill but im just worried about responsiveness. I plan to put in some Rainbow SLC 6.5 NG's and i want to kinda beef up the door a bit. I was looking at the Damp lite and was figuring that with its cost and realtive weight to square foot that this would be the product for me. Im not doing any SPL comps, just looking to increase the sound quality of my audio system while reducing door vibration. I am also trying to be cost concious with whate…
