cant figure it out. two IA 187 15s off a AQ1200d, 6.0^ft3 ported at 37hz. To get any decent bass i had to turn my gain all the way up, and bass boost to about the middle. my remote gain shows clipping at medium volume. Im very confuse at whats going on. I put a battery on the subs and they popped out at the same time so im pretty sure they are in phase. any other ideas?

Check your radio settings, ground, RCA's, RCA connections.

Try unplugging the bass knob.

i just did a sub/amp swap everything from RCAs to HU settings are good. I will try the bass knob idea though

i remember there being a very certain way to set up the remote gain from another thread on this amp, hopeful u can get it working, otherwise this has to be like the 2nd or 3rd 1200d giving ppl issues in the last fews weeks.

have u tired setting the gain with out the remote gain hooked up at all?

edit: if i remember right the remote is used as a way to turn the output down, so u basicly set the gain with out the remote gain hooked up, then turn the remote gain knob to max, then plug it in. so u cant turn it up into clipping...

u dont have to turn the gain all the way up ....and bass boost<---no no .... i think its the HU settings (and maybe amp settings) and u know that u tuned your box to 37Hz (if u wanted really low bass 28-32Hz)

what are the lowpass and subsonic crossover settings at? If you have a head unit with highpass crossovers for the front and rear speakers and use either of those preouts for the sub, it'll transfer that highpassed signal to the amp, thus cutting the signal for the subs.

my HU has a SW output, i have tried alot of different things. But still the subs just dont that hard. my single SE 12 with 600w was WAY louder then im doing now. to get any decent output my SW has to be all the way up. gain all the way up, and bass boost half way. the amp starts clipping kind of quickly, even if the gain is turned down,it still clips quickly. i have messed with all the settings on my HU, but nothing changed from my old system. the subs just are not moving alot of air. i turned my HU to half way, turned on a test tone, bass boost all the way up and my volt meter showed 15....... not sure what that means. i cant think of anything else. either my subs are very poor or the amp is.

Something is not wired correctly or something is broken. That amp with the gain all the way up at 1 ohm should sling those subs out the box. Even at 4ohms the subs should move a good bit.

check each sub and make sure the coils are not out of phase from each other

On certain amps (such as AudioQues), the Bass Knob does not distort the signal. Bass knob at high is equal to having no bass knob plugged in. In only affects it when you dial it down.

If you swapped amps and it was fine, the problem is likely your amp.

Whoever made that comment above about AQ bass boost is wrong!

The control is a GAIN control,not a bass boost control.

It's simple really- a direct swap out results in better results means something with the amp settings.

If the shipping box wasn't damaged, then it's most likely amp setting so here is a good set of settings to use-

Set amp to Master

Connect the remote GAIN controoler and turn it up ALL THE WAY.

Set the gain on the amp itself ALL THE WAY DOWN

Set LPF to 80-100hz

Set subsonic filter to 30hz. (Set it higher if your subs start bottoming out or set it lower if ur subs have more excursion room left)

Get a test tone cd in your stereo

Set ALL bass and EQ settings on stereo to 0 and if your stereo allows to control output level of sub preout, set it to max.

Choose a tone between 40-60 hz

Turn stereo volume up 75% of the way.

Play thus tone on repeat

While playing at this point, slowing start increasing the gain on the amp itself until the clipping indicator goes full bright red.

At this point, stop increasing gain and shut off the tone.

U r done.

all my gains on the HU are set properly. but when i turn the gain down and the bass boost down on the amp, i get hardly any bass, and they start to clip and bottom our very easily. the subs sound like they are not getting enough power

if the subs are "bottoming out" then they are getting too much power for the box they're in (or out of phase...).. how about some box specs??? (dimensions of everything, including wood thickness ect...)

my box is 39x20x17.25" with two 6"x15" round ports. so now that i see there was a major miss calculation in the box i am either going to have to invert the subs and run a single port or run these sealed.

also is there a better way to check my SSF and high pass filter. I can guess that i set it at 30hz but sense it starts at 5hz and goes up to like 200hz i have no idea of where it should be.

15v and clipping? That's a sound that something is very wrong... VERY wrong!

Make sure u do not have the amp set as slave!

Also, retrace your rca jacks!

U might be using the wrong ones or somehow have them hooked up wrong.

I would also suggest taking it to someone who can diagnose the install before wasting money on shipping it back to AQ.

your box is roughly 6cubes at 37ish hz... so pretty well dead on what you said... so what was your major miss calculation?

well i just got my 0ga wire in today so i plan on installing all of that and doing the big 3. that should help some. i think this amp is just trying to pull more current then my electrical can provide. but i also put a hole in my oil pan today so that is priority

Are you sure you're reading this right? The subsonic on that amp only goes from 10 to 50 hz. The lowpass crossover, on the other hand, goes from 20-200 hz. Are you sure you aren't getting the two mixed up? If so, that could be the cause of the problem. The subsonic needs to be at like 25 hz and the lowpass at 70-80 hz or so, and not the other way around. Otherwise you have problems.
