  1. I just bought a 95 Cadillac Eldorado. It has the factory amplified system in it, so I have to run all new wires, amp, speakers, etc. I'm still trying to decide what i'm going to run in it. So far I'm thinking an Alpine IXA-W404 for the head unit, PXA-H100 eq, a set of focal 165a1 components running active, a dsc480 or dsc4125 to run the front stage, my saz-1500d to run the sub stage and probably 1 15" ported through the back deck or one sealed 18". For electrical, it has a new Interstate 800 cca main battery, I'll put my kinetic HC1400 in the trunk, run 1/0 main power and do the big three in 1/0. Here are some pics, and feel free to comment on my planned system. Also I'm wondering how much of an output difference I'll see going from having my sub in an suv to being in a closed up trunk.
  2. one box of screws, half gallon of titebond II, and 3 1/2 sheets of 1 1/8" floor decking:

Depending on the amplifier power, you may also want to look into the SSD series and get it loaded with cooling and flatwound. Will be seriously loud, low and still remain very musical!
  4. Yes, on both NS v.2 and Z v.2 Why did you decide to remove it? It's useless.
  5. Yes, but you probably don't use it in IB ? or do you? 8 18s is still overkill, even in an IB alignment... But it is some seriously impressive overkill. I always say, you can't overdo it with subwoofer capability, and I am an SQ guy. You don't need to worry about imaging or how they will affect the stage, so I never knock it. With 8 18s he can, or I should say I would keep the volume very low on the subs. This will keep them amazingly linear, and amazingly linear in IB means amazingly transparent, open, and enveloping. Bottom line, it will sound killer.
  6. I've been trying to decide what to run for a sub stage and how I'm going to organize my trunk. I'll have a second battery, saz-1500d, dsc4125, and subs all in the trunk. I'd like to keep my trunk as open as possible, so i'm trying to figure out how to do that. So to save space I've decided to go sealed. But to keep output I want more cone area, so now I'm thinking 3-12" DCON's. I want clean sound, a box height of 15" or less, to spend less than $400, and equalivent output than my old RE SX15 ported in 4 cu@31 on 800 watts. I think the 3 DCON's should be able to handle that, and sound a lot better. I'll buy 3 svc 4ohm subs and wire them parallel for a 1.33 ohm load. So with good electrical I should see 1100-1200 watts, or around 400 per sub. The box I'm thinking right now will be 38" wide, 15" tall, 15" deep at the top, and 17" deep at the bottom. Double baffle front, with two dividers/braces to make three separate chambers. Looks like after sub displacement I should net 1.19 cu ft per sub, which is right at optimal according to SSA. I'm debating on mounting the amps to the top of the sub box, or making an amp rack that hangs off the rear package tray. And I'm not sure about the battery, it'll probably end up in the rear passenger side behind the wheelwell in a carpeted mdf box. Here are some pics of the trunk.
