Hey all. So these finally came back in to stock and I jumped on one time I saw it. My vehicle - GMC Yukon with 5.3 My Irraggi Amputator was charging real nice first thing in the morning getting up to 14v then a few minutes later, it would settle in at around 13.6v and stay there pretty much all day. I was not happy and was considering buying another alt. I purchased the VCM from the SSA store and as usual communication and ship time were first class. Installation was straight forward taking around 15-20 minutes. There is really no way to install it wrong as it's plug and play. I mounted it temporarily as I wanted to find the sweet spot as to where to set it to charge. I will mount it behind my plexi cover where my Stinger is now in the future. As for the results...I am 110% satisfied! My voltage first thing in the morning is 15.3 and once things warm up the VCM keeps things plugging along 14.8 all day long. I could set it to charge higher, but I felt this was plenty for daily driving. This is a wonderful product and I am completely satisfied with the purchase. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get that little extra and have complete control over their charging voltage.
  2. Yeah they aren't very quick, but will last absolutely forever. In finland they do the om605 and om606 conversions and throw a lot of boost at them and do some amazing stuff. Here's an example:
  3. 28 Deep X 40 Wide X 17 Tall. With subs up and port back. Single port on the 17X40 side that is internally 5" Wide X 15.5" tall and 16" Deep. Yields 8 cuft after port and driver tuned to 32Hz. Set the amps subsonic filter 29Hz... no bass boost on headunit or amp and set the gains according to the headunits output voltage. Should be good to go with that. Thanks, Scott

90% of the time that is not the case. Normally the one and only thing that changes is cone area, motor, coil, softparts, they are all the same so power handling is not effected. Right. Most models of subs use everything the same for each size of sub except for basket size and cone size. In this case the power handling among different sizes would be exactly the same. However, the slightly larger moving mass from the increased cone size can slightly shift several parameters. Is it enough to be heard, maybe. Sometimes a 15" in this scenario has an fs 3-5 hz below the 12", which may be discernible. Having boxes at the same tuning might actually make the difference more audible due to the difference in frequency response. If you want to compare the different sized subs in similar boxes, you actually need to equalize the Qtc and the f3 point of the boxes. That may mean you have to tune the 12" to 29 or 32 hz, or whatever. Some models of subs actually use different motors, or at least coils, in their different subs. I know I've seen lines where the 10" and 12" use a 2" coil, whereas the 15" uses a 2.5" coil. I think MTX used to do that. Alpine might also have. In that case, nearly all bets are off depending on how closely the manufacturer wanted to make the specs. The 15" could be such a different animal that it could actually belong in its own model line and not grouped with the 10 and 12 inch versions. Or they could make it so that the 15" has very close specs to the other sizes by machining the motor a little differently.
  5. They do, under settings -> ipod
  6. Did some thermal testing on Friday with it. Im happy with the results so far, but I just finished coding another sink for this one and will machine it tomorrow (if I can get time on one with BTL parts going...). Seems to cool exceedingly well and we had good long term thermal stability with the neos. Ill keep updating this one as we do more tests or make changes. Thanks, Scott
  7. You should really stop going mainstream, there are tons of companies (on this forum also) that sell great products for less then what you can get mainstream woofers for. The SSD's will blow away the type R's and so will SSA Icons for a similar price.
  8. I really don't know how long i browsed SSA for, just lurking and reading. Finally I signed up, I was on ROE, CACRAPO, and other sites. They do not even compare to SSA, stupid people, even dumber answers to questions, just horrid. Also i love how there are rarely "v.s." threads, those really piss me off! Thanks for a great site SSA, thanks to all the mods, to M5, Impious, Sandt, to name a few you guys have taught me a lot. I've made a lot of great friends here, I can't think about going to another site. Great site Aaron and Mark!
  9. has anyone heard anything about planet audio's big bang 2 series of subwoofers? the 12" has an efficiency of 95db at 1W/1M No they don't. That's called marketing. Link: Sensitivity Sensitivity (SPL) = 112 + 10*Log(9.64 * 10^(-10) * Fs^3 * Vas / Qes) SPL = 112 + 10 * LOG(9.64 * 10^(-10) * 29^3 * 39.64 / 0.586) = 84db So the actual sensitivity of the driver is a full 11db lower than advertised at 84db.
  10. Jeez....more post make you more of a man?^Its listed on the company's site 2000 rms, it can take more or less and be fine but be smart.
