  1. Yes thermally they will take more power but you gotta remember all subs dont fail from thermal failure, some fail because of mechanical failure as well so its not always can they take the power thermally. It will boil down to enclosure and how you play your sytem, your electrical as well. Set your gains correctly and be smart with the volume on your headunit, remember you have to worry about thermal and mechanical problems when it comes to running more than rms to a subwoofer. If done correctly then yes it can be successful.
  2. "don't like just doing RMS power." Why not? That's why they are rated there. More power can damage the driver more easily. Headroom is nice, but there becomes a point of overkill. Besides, are you going to clamp the amp to see how much it's actually putting out? If not, any answer here is meaningless. It doesn't matter if we tell you 1000 watts or 1500 watts, you won't know what your amp is actually putting out anyways.
  3. consider something like this : doorboard Audi A4 stuff like that can be found in the parts where i live like here : audioshop you could also look for the doorboard fabricators : Jehnert , Poket or PM .
  4. The funny thing is we are one of the most dealer friendly companies out there... I get alot of crap on the net about being "overpriced" since we actually defend profits for our dealers. You can buy most brands on e-bay for dealer cost... guess what ? All Sundown sold online is at MAP pricing -- a level that dealers can make money at. If they choose to carry products that cut the throats of the shops selling them so be it. Dealers that do carry our line are quite pleased.
  5. The harness adapters are only a few dollars, why on earth didn't you make sure he bought one. I'm not familiar with that vehicle at all, but chances are it has a factory "amp" hidden somewhere and it's now fried either due to getting 12v run through it or too high of an input signal because of the amp built into the aftermarket HU. That would be my guess. They make harness adapter's that for connecting the HU to the factory wires and in the case of vehicles with factory "amps" a bypass harness for those. Try hooking a speaker directly up to the output of the HU, not through the factory wiring and see if it still plays. If so then there's something in the chain of the factory stuff that's bad, if it doesn't then something happened to the internal amp of the HU.
  6. Yes it is, I did an installation with a 12" DCON powered by a Rockford Fosgate 200.2 12" DCON in Mazda Protege5 - SSA Car Audio Forum
  7. So you currently have a 10" Dcon? What amp are you using? the one in your sig? As far as your sig goes, all that power you got going and you don't have a more powerful battery? Is your alternator just that good on your truck? Sig is a little out dated! I will be adding to the electrical as time and money allow. I ran my DCON 10" D4 off my Sundown SAZ-1000D at 600 watts rms. Gain was very conservatively set and never had an issue with it. It was in a 1.33ft^3 ported enclosure tuned to 33hz. I never did run it sealed.
  8. You should fine! Do not use any kind of bass boost on the amp. You will be amazed at the output of these woofers! I have a DCON 10" and it was very impressive in output and sound quality.
  9. Agreed. Superbly efficient in the 300-350w range of power. There are several reviews and youtube vids w/folks running these subs in this range of power and getting incredible results.
  10. Ok so I had a chance to make a quick video today. No editing or anything, I'm busy at the moment. Hopefully I can get another one done tomorrow or something. On an interesting note, the Xcon's made a screw fall out of the dash today haha. I was just driving along and felt something hit my leg. When I checked, it was one of the screws that holds the dash up. Here is the video Hope you enjoy!
  11. Ok, rained all day so no video . I do have some pics though! Played around with it a little more today, so far I'm really pleased with the Xcon's. I listened to a bunch of slowed rap songs and they sounded great! It's crazy because I feel like its louder than some of the high SPL vehicles I've sat in even though I know it's not. Video's do no justice for these woofers. I also listened to a song by Rage Against the Machine while I was demoing for my dad. It sounded like a concert! You get that feeling in your chest every time the bass hits. Nice and precise. Unfortuately the dimming is back lol, but I it plays fine at idle. Voltage only drops down to about 13 on most songs. Hoping the sunroof isn't going to break but it seems inevitable. Anyway, here are some pics. Hopefully I can do a vid tomorrow if it stops raining. This is the unloaded enclosure that Dave the box guy built me. My signature yellow port lol. This one is neon and it will actually fluoresce with a black light. Some nice bracing. Good thing I didn't make this lol. Shot of the port from the inside The Xcon's installed. I still need to brace the rear deck and finish the sealing. That means it will be even louder with less cancellation! Also it will get rid of that annoying metal flapping sound lol. Wish I could have gotten some shots of the amp, but it's still raining... I'll be sure to post a video and some more pics. I'll document some of my sealing progress as well, now that I think about it I don't think there is enough of that online for us trunkers.
  12. If you have to ask, your not ready for 7K.
