  1. Inductance could easily become another issue. I don't really know how much SPL guys look at the inductance of a coil, but if the inductance is high enough (which will increase as coil diameter increases) it will negatively affect the performance of the driver within the frequency band SPL'ers use. With great coil size, comes great inductance. (Anyone catch the Spiderman thing I had going on there?)

Trust me. save your money and email [email protected]. you can thank me later. Better to do it right the first time than the second like me.
  3. We can run this thread for a week. After that, it's time to ship out some free bravox! Voting Ends: 10-27-2010 5pm. (Pacific Time) Entries Twistedchild420's (SSA) Cory.Wasco (SSA) RidinLoudProd (ROE)
  4. Video's or lies. /thread.
  5. There are a few pro-audio drivers with 6" coils and resonable inductance w/high power handling. High efficency too.... Also, you need to think about it as surface area, so a large diameter coil may have no more inductance and weight than a smaller diameter coil that is longer...
  6. For those who don't believe in bracing... And those cheap asses are cutting corners like hell in that measurement btw.

you think so? would you use it? Here's where it is made. Notice that they also offer "Extruded Butyl Rope"? Kind of flattering, I guess, but I'd be willing to bet they don't know what it is for. All of the product packaging photos are crude PS mockups I did order some of the AudioBarrier to check it out and the quality is decent. Probably wouldn't use it myself though
  8. i had the same problem on mine. a 12-24 machine screw worked for me
  9. if you dont get an answer by tomorrow just call Db-r. Chris would be happy to help ya out
  10. What the hell is dubstep? I wouldn't expect much from that Pioneer anyways, it's their toilet (read Walmart) line. Start here, Then make a new thread in the subwoofer section.
  11. Alright, I finally got some time to work on my kicks since I'm between jobs again. I put on some more Everglass filler and blocked it. Next I will try laying on some Rage and getting it smooth so I can texture and paint them. Here's a couple pics from my phone.
  12. LOL... Trial and error! J/K Better let Jake answer that one. Could try Chris at db-R.
  13. Not caulked and sealed yet.. Could've been better, but my friend didn't want to bring his table saw..
  14. Today is the day of no return. I've hacked my door panels and from the looks of it some might assume I used a hatchet. Here are some pics of the carnage. The door panel Here is the drivers side door Up close of the hacking Here is a shot of the passenger side. This shot gives a good view of the area I am working with. I'll be making a simple pod by stacking some MDF pieces. Sorry no fiberglass work here. I'll keep it simple, I think it'll look good. More to come.
  15. In the spirit of Halloween I am resurrecting this thread from the dead. Muahahahah!!!! The MS8 has been incredible. Best purchase period. It's time to step it up a notch. Time to add some mid-bass to the system. My poor 18s are crossed at 250Hz because my little Powerbass 3-1/2 co-ax just can't dig any deeper. I have gone with el-cheapo, Peerless made, Miller & Kreisel 8 incher from the Parts Express Buy Out bin. A little woofer porn The junk in the trunk shot Since I can't leave well enough alone I am going to flex my muscles and yank off the bucking magnet to reduce the mounting depth by a whopping 1/4". This is how I did it. The tools The setup Make sure the get the fingers under the bucking magnet It takes a couple of hands to pull it off, especially when try to take pics at the same time. The little helper is my seven year old daughter. All it takes is getting the puller snug by hand then one turn with the wrench and the magnet pops right off. Bye, bye, bucking magnet. Looking fit and trim now. Here is a little profile action for you all. Look at me. I'm going to paint my woofer. Meh. :/ Stay tuned for more pics by your truly.
  16. i would be willing to test a neo Q for a week or two. and i run my Q on 1600 daily and its happy and only gets hot if i take it out side the max settings i set, aka 15-30 sec boost's for demos or at a show. i would like to see a Q that would take ~3k rms, i will drive all the way out to you from GA to kiss your ass.
  17. 3K is not asking to much is it? i could probably get a 2k rms to take 3k and use common senths not to blow it.
  18. troy, just buy 2 of each, you can give us a review and if you blow one set up you will have a spare.
