SSA ICON 12' vs SSA XCON 12'
2 pointsYou will get the same quality sound from each driver. Think of the icon as a v6 mustang and the xcon as a v8. Basically the same machine however the xcon will provide more output being it has more motor force and xmax, but like the v8 it'll take a little more gas (power) to get the extra output.2 points

2007 Chevrolet Cobalt
1 point2007 Chevrolet Cobalt Sedan Equipment: SSA XCON D1 10" Subwoofer powered by two Zed Minilith's strapped @ 2 ohm. Mach 5 MLI 6.5" mids with LPG 25NFA tweeters powered by a Zed Draconia. Pioneer 2300 DVD. SDS products. The Mach5s are crossed over from 60hz up to 2000hz. The LPGs are from 2000hz and up. I can not be more happy with how this pair sounds. They blend very well together. This build is still a work in progress. I have everything except the Miniliths, which are on their way. I will continue to add pictures and updates as work is completed. Some starting pictures. The car: Car did not come with a center console, so I bought one. Sound Deadening Process. I would like to thank Aaron and Don from SDS. Aaron's build log on his Mazda help alot with this process. All four doors got this treatment and so did the rear deck. XCON. MTX ten for reference: Zed Draconia:1 point

Welcome to the IHoP
1 pointUniversal health care is a fucking waste of time. So is the opposite of granting benefits to people/employers for benefit programs. It allows the market to be controlled and monopoly programs to be made. It's not part of infrastructure so stay the fuck out. A government option for roads, for military, for emergency aid etc....... Perhaps. Fuck even broadband communications should fall under the preview of infrastructure. We are behind Korea for fucks sake. But leave my cock and balls and flu shots and everything else that is my choice up to me. If I don't want to drive I don't have to. If I don't want to surf the net fine. But don't flex the costs to persuade the public on what they should and should not do for health concerns.1 point

Two 15' Dcon vs One 15' Icon
1 pointMy trunk is huge. About 54 inches wide and about 18 inches tall. Does that help? Trunk eh? Listing the trunk opening would help, that way we know what you can actually fit, unless you want to build inside the trunk. I have zero experience with trunks, and I don't know if putting a large enclosure in the trunk that fills up the majority of the space, would cause any problems for getting the output to the cabin VS having a smaller enclosure and more space around the enclosure. So normally I would have gone with the 2 15" dcons, but with a trunk, I'm not entirely sure what I would do. At this point hopefully others with experience with trunks can lend their advice. Good luck1 point

Two 15' Dcon vs One 15' Icon
1 pointHow large of an enclosure are you able to fit in your vehicle. That's the first question to address. If you don't have the proper airspace for 2 15" drivers you'll be better off with the one 15" ICON.1 point

Two 15' Dcon vs One 15' Icon
1 pointI would be getting the custom enclosure and let my friend build it for me. I'd still be using a 1500watt audiopipe amp. Is that to much? As long as you have enough space for a proper enclosure, your good. Headroom is your friend, you will be gaining down the amplifier, so no it won't be too much power. Dcons are always overlooked because their price point, but don't let that sway you away, they sound great, and with that much cone area, they should still get excessively loud.1 point

Two 15' Dcon vs One 15' Icon
1 pointAssuming you have enough volume for the dcons, and the enclosure alignments are the same, the dcons have more cone area, and more then likely yield more output.1 point

Ok, so I am going to be painting my Yukon
All right guys time has come to repair the ripped up quarter panel the Zcons have blessed me with and put a fresh coat of paint on my Yukon. I am also going to do a couple other mods on it that should set her up right when I get it done. Throwing a 6" suspension lift and 37's on it. Muahahahaha! Anyway, back on track........... I have narrowed my choices to the following and by doing this I have realized that there are a bunch of people that do not like my choices. If you dont like my choices, that's okay and feel free to say so, but it's my truck and Imma do as I please. lol I think people hear satin and think chalky and cheap looking and they say yuck. I agree the crappy flat paint jobs just look dirty. That is not what I am after. I want a nice paint job with a clean industrial look. There is a difference between flat and satin. I am having a really hard time deciding between my two choices and thought I would put up a post and get some other opinions. Personally I think either would look great, but I am kinda leaning towards the stormtrooper look. First choice: The brightest white I can find with a satin clear. Not flat, but no gloss and no reflection. Second choice: Satin Black. Not flat, satin! So, what ya got? Good or bad lets hear it.1 point

SSA ICON 12' vs SSA XCON 12'
1 pointI'm guessing you already have an enclosure? Or set on a 12" for space reasons? Otherwise more cone area is a good way to increase output. If your current enclosure is an off the shelf one purchased from Best Buy, I suggest you invest some money into a custom enclosure, or build one yourself, as that will make the biggest difference. The Xcon does have a higher power rating then the Icon; however, that doesn't make it any less efficient, in fact it's slightly more efficient in comparison to the Icon series, according to modeling using WinISD. But the difference shouldn't be audible. I have an Icon and absolutely love it. I've also had a pair of xcons and loved them as well.1 point

SSA ICON 12' vs SSA XCON 12'
1 pointWe can't tell you if it'll be loud enough for you. We can however say you will not find another woofer in it's price range with the same output and clearity.1 point

1 pointNight and day. Well worth the work and cost of products. I will put my car up against anybodys on how quiet it is inside going down the road. The road noise was very bad and now it is non existent. Along audio lines I don't know. I installed the SDS products before I upgraded my stock speakers. But The bass response from the Mach 5s is amazing.1 point- How Good Is Your Port?
