  1. New thread for the new build, The quest for insanity continues. I wont build this one for numbers either but will be active at Meca meets and just having fun. The goal here is to be very loud, low and sound good doing it. I'm hoping for 154's but want to do it peaking low, I would like 152's+ around 30hz, but main goal is to sound good, this will not be a burp box. Updated Equipment List for this build Power / Electrical Mechman 370amp alternator, over 200amps at idle.... props to Mechman Adjustable voltage regulator set at 14.7v 4 XS D3400's, 2 XP3000's (may change that up some) 4 runs of power, 2 runs of ground to back batteries wiring is Knu ofc 1/0 and also a lot of Coleman 2/0 ofc stage cable Head Unit Pioneer deh80-prs (running active) Mids and Highs Alpine PDX 4.150 on mids, Digital Designs SS2 on highs 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch Pro 6.5's 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch Pro 8's 2 Crescendo FT1 super tweeters, may add 2 more Subs, box and sub amps 2 Crescendo BC 5500's strapped at 1.5 3 FI SP4 18's, dual 1, cooling, spaced spiders, loaded The wall will be completely double walled 3/4in 13 ply Russian Baltic Birch with 1/2in all thread bracing 19.5cu tuned to 31-33hz with 250-300sqin of port Today I picked up SEVEN 5x5 sheets of Birch (420lbs worth) and will start making cuts maybe this weekend. I wanted to get the thread up so when I takes picks I can just add as I go. The best part is I can build this in my garage and slide box in when done, add the front beauty panel, seal the edges and done. I will be removing the bed of the truck to run all thread through the box and cab to secure it. Dont need a 600lbs projectile behind me. haha

Simple solution. Contact Don @ Sounddeadenershowdown.com Tell him exactly what you are looking to do, your vehicle, what the goals are for the deadening. He'll email you back requesting a list of measurements from the vehicle if he doesn't already have them on record. Once he has the vehicle measurements he will email you with an extremely detailed plan for deadening the vehicle based on your goals. That includes a break-down of exactly how much of what products he recommends for you vehicle and how or what method to apply them based on your goals and proper sound deadening techniques and performance along with a break down of cost. From there you can decide if you wish to proceed with his recommendations (which I'd recommend), or if not which products you do and don't want to use if there are budgetary or time constraints. He's sometimes bombarded with emails, and his responses are time consuming as they are very detailed, so do allow him a little bit of time. If you don't hear back in a couple days, shoot him another email or PM him on one of the forums and just ask him to check your first email. Not only is he one of the most knowledgeable in the industry when it comes to sound deadening, but he also has the most detailed and thorough method of laying out a deadening plan for the vehicle as well as some of the highest quality products on the market. There really isn't a better option. You won't have to guess at how much deadener or take suggestions on how much of your money to spend on deadening from some random person on an internet forum who may or may not know what they're doing. You'll get a detailed analysis from the most knowledgeable guy in the industry
  3. now that i got my subs and box done, its time to look for an amp. not looking to spend too much on an amp right now. would like to send 600 rms to each sa12. trying to stay under $300, ive been looking around the web and found a couple that i might be interested in. but i wont get it unless you guys say its a good buy. this one i just came across, not sure about the brand though http://www.woofersetc.com/p-7635-bamf-20001d-power-acoustik-monoblock-2000-watt-class-d-amplifier.aspx heard soundstream was pretty legit, so i found this one http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9571-dtr11700d-soundstream-1700w-d-tower-series-class-d-monoblock-power-amplifier.aspx read on Steve Mead Designs that this was good for the money, but is power hungry. http://www.woofersetc.com/p-8840-brz17001d-hifonics-brutus-series-1700w-rms-1-channel-monoblock-super-class-d-amplifier.aspx those are the 3 that i can recall right now. are any of them worth getting as a temporary amp? suggestions?
  4. as long as you do not account for port displacement, you are alright. Since his port is completely external, he will do trial and error tuning himself so impossible to advise proper tuning without being there. As well, i hope the tuning frequency chosen doesn't alter your recommended enclosure volumes. What i personally do for SPL only is to build a box larger than normal with a larger than normal port. IE, if i were to build a box for a 12, i'd build it using 4cuft net with 120sqin of port. I would then, by trial and error, start slowing displacing volume AND measuring peak frequency response for ALL volume changes. This takes a LONG time, but in the end, you get the right volume with the right tuning.
  5. It's ~2.5 tuned to ~35.
  6. alright, im looking on craigslist for another jl 500/1
  7. I'd get another 500/1. Should be able to easily find one used for $200 or under.
  8. Best, you can't afford. Best value isn't new.
  9. I thought I had fixed this, I will work on it right now. Because of the way the new website is, it uses a plugin from Fedex that takes the weight of the sticker, which is a pound or two with box, and the zipcode, and gets the shipping cost directly from fedex. We ship all of our stickers via USPS, so its a flatrate. I will work on this again right now. In the mean time, if anyone needs to purchase stickers just email me at [email protected] and I will get it taken care of for you. Shawn
  10. Having alittle fun behind my office on a Saturday Morning. Volume is about 3/4 since I'm just walking around at idle and not monitoring voltage although its not much a issue with this new badass alternator.

Congrats in the wins to all three of you.
  12. That is going to look awesome! Please clean that sub, I hate to see dirty subs.
  13. wish I could have taken better pics, but here is some of my Kenwood DNX9980HD head unit ... And we are in the process of relocating the Air Conditioner controls where the ash trey use to be ... Just got to wait until payday to buy the materials to finish it ...
  14. It's been my experience as a public educator that people can, and do indeed, fail harder. Indeed, holy fuck. http://www.soundsolu...__fromsearch__1 I almost felt bad jacking the thread to salmon, but I couldn't help myself. I cut the guy a little slack because he is from Columbia and English isn't his first language.
  15. Looking good. Makes me wanna try some out. Wait, don't tell the wife I said that. On a side note, I just want to say what you are doing here Jacob, showing and sharing the developement of a product is a great move. This is about the best way of being accessable for a company with such a large following.
  16. How about ferrite and cut the price in half?
