Worth the wait? If you mean for the design then absolutely--two days to have a complete comprehensive design FOR FREE from an awesome guy? damn straight worth it If you mean build time for the subs-I have zero doubts it will be worth it, as I cant find a bad review PERIOD for an xcon and trust me i looked.
  2. You wired the coils out of phase and overheated the voice coils. Warranty won't cover this, sorry man... This is the only way you can pour enough power into a driver to overheat the voice coils without causing any cone movement. The only other possible thing that could have happened was your amplifier was faulty and was in some kind of uncontrolled high frequency oscillation. Warranty won't cover this, either...
  3. List updated, just passed the 100 ticket mark!
  4. Why did you even box them up? Do you know that they are blown? No offense but you definitely don't sound like someone with 20 years of experience.
  5. Wow, to have been sponsered by MTX and Soundstream, you really do create some questionable threads in regards to anything car audio related. Also, you seem to make a lot of mispellings, as well as a lot of misunderstandings of the basics in regards to competing, especially for somebody that has been doing for as long as you have. I understand you've stated that you have been out of the game for some time, but fuse ratings and such still obtains the same technology as it do before if I'm not mistaken.
  6. A GIRL with zcons in JAPAN!! haha nice man!! I like the build and no worries with the xcons! You will still be happy for sure. Maybe though, it will convince you to step up to something EVIL!!
  7. I would definitely +1 this, but add that after seeing a single 15" take the 5500 I would say definitely step up the power from the 3500 to the 5500 and these will slam. Hey Terric, really quick man, its not so wise to go telling everybody how much this person or that person can put to a certain subwoofer. At the end of the day, it actually cause more harm than good. Because the end user will listen to people on the forums, listen to what they see on youtube, and will try it themselves and many times end up having failed equipment, and which can come back to bite SSA or whomever in the ass. "Oh, well I seen this one guy put 5000 watts to a zcon, so I can too.". No, this is not what we want to spread. For many reasons, main one being, not everyone has the same experience, many people don't know what signs to look for, or how much is too much, etc. Then theres the whole thing about cost, and the electric systems needed for said system. Its just a whole bad of worm that IMHO should just be avoided all together. SSA is not "underrated", they have published power handling that a true and are not used as a selling gimic. They are provided for a reason and are givin for subwoofer longjevity, along with other reasons. Any subwoofer can be "underated", but is Completely install and experience dependent. They are many reasons beyond power handling means to go with a more powerful amplifier. Less stress, more unclipped power, which means happier subwoofer(s), cooler operating temps, etc... I would suggest yes, something like two 3500s would be a good match for 2 18"s zcons and placed in a wall as mentioned before. But be sure you have a stout electrical to back it up. Big 3, big power/ground cable, big alternator, decent battery bank, the works. After you calculate how much money it takes to operate such a system, you may want to take these things into considereation prior to making such a big decision. Good luck and keep us updated!
  8. Carefully inspect the motors. It's entirely possible that they got abused during shipping and the motors shifted and locked the coils. It's rare, but it has happened before. It would account for the cone's inability to move right out of the box.
  9. Could you post some good pics of the install?
  10. Just about any of the battle scenes in Battleship will do it, especially the last one with the old battleship. Also the movie "The Haunting" with Liam Neeson. Badass bass in that movie with the house moving and things.
  11. Why not use a screwdriver so you will be less likely to damage something? Did you call RF to tell them the connectors don't fit? (I would be surprised if they didn't help you out.)
  12. It depends on if you want to compete and stay in a certain class. Cone area can sometimes be good or bad. 2 Zcon's may meter higher if done right and 4 Icons would be nasty as well and be a great ground pounder. Sounds like a good plan either way. I would probably go 4 15's because down the road if you upgrade to 4 Zcons or Evils it will become just that much more painfull.
  13. I second the motion.
  14. Hifonics rates the brz @ 14v so the numbers reported are a little off However they are clean sounding and handle loudness well IMO they poo on everything bestbuy has Ive lurked alot of forums and have never read about someone who runs brz's and is unsatisfied Ive never seen a bad clamp report from any brz Ive had one of my brz1200 for 3 years in that 3years time i tried running it @ .5ohm on walmart wires (ground end burnt, amp protected) I played it at FULL gain for a year before I learned about square waves I turned it on once not knowing it was full of water (the led blinked, protected) My trunk had leaked Im now running two brz1200 on 4 12's Most people who have bad things to say about hifonics/brz have never ran them before The brz is known to be very power hungry I have 3 optimas to power (2) brz1200 If i were you I would get a hifonics colossus instead of buying (2) brz2400 (save $) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_32990_Hifonics-Colossus.html It can be bridged @ 3200 watts and has a nice clipping indicator (for what its worth)
  15. I heard he was painting red strips in his hair.
  16. I wouldn't consider calling an alt a piece of shit as attacking anyone.
  17. I would suggesting a wall. Have sub and port forward. Having port behind a seat going up/down would sometimes yield loudest spl numbers usually.
  18. So you're complaining that you didn't research a product before you bought it?

I had blown one of my subs a few months ago so I unhooked everything and removed from vehicle. After doing some upgrades and getting new subs in, I finally reinstalled them yesterday. The problem I've ran into is that the amps aren't producing any sound. They power up and show that there on, but no sound. What voltage should the remote wire show? This is the only thing I can think of to check. I will say though that when I had a sub blow it blew the fuse between batteries and the amps where underpowered for awhile. Could this have caused internal problems? All help needed fast!!!

If you someone told you they 'come alive' with a couple hundred more rms and you believed them, just stick with the rated rms.
  21. Just wanted to know the opinion of someone who owns one. I am thinking about this or the dc 2k so input would be much welcome. Sincerely, Matthew
  22. Yeah dc 2k or Cendo 2k for sure. Just in my personal exp, the aq seemed to be a bit picky on clipping, now that may or may not be my fault now realizing the zcon wanted more power than the aq1200 I had lol
