  1. 2X 1/0 = 107 mm^2 1X 4/0 = 107 mm^2 If you compare the 2 runs of CCA to the single run of Copper (the same cross sectional area) the Copper will absolutely destroy the CCA by a HUGE margin....
  2. "2x 1/0 CCA has the capability of being just as strong if not stronger than 4/0-300MCM Copper." God dammit Shizzon, check you math before posting things like this.... THIS IS NOT REMOTELY CORRECT!!!
  3. this topic has been covered many many times... save up and buy ofc and end this thread
  4. Just make sure everyone understands a few things from this thread: CCA and Copper of the same AWG are the exact same size. CCA does not have the same current carrying capability as Copper of the same AWG. The copper coloring of CCA is very thin plating that doesn't really help much. It is mostly there for looks. There are no performance advantages whatsoever for CCA. CCA has more resistance and therefore voltage drop of the same AWG Copper cable.
  5. Aaron approached me about building a budget 2.1 setup for watching movies on his laptop. We came to the agreement to build two small towers which will have four 3" full range speakers per side arranged in a line array. Each tower will be roughly.5 cubic feet sealed after displacements. A SoundSplinter Orphan 8 will be used for subwoofer duty. The woofer enclosure is .65 cubic feet after displacements, which is rather large for the orphan but very low power is being used. Amplifier to be used: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-775 Aurasound speakers: http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-3-fullrange/aurasound-ns3-193-8a1-3-black-cone-wide-range/ Wood cut ready to assemble:
  6. Cool story. Pics and price
  7. ok so my first issue is that i have found a usa company that builts box, for these trucks behind the seat, im going with 8s on this build.... so the options are 3 8s sealed or 2 8s ported im leaning to sealed as he listens to country ,. the issue i am having is finding out how much space is left between the back of the seat and the box.. so i can make sure the subs wont hit... im looking at the sundown SD 8s or the sundown E8v-2 if there is not much space left./ has anyone done an install on a crewcab 2008-2013?
  8. lol your such a loser truconcepts
  9. Thanks man. Good meeting you as well. Your car def has amazing SQ and gets down for shallow mounts. You will def enjoy that Xcon man. We will have to meet up when you get your Xcon/Box and when I get my box. Dave said about 2-3 more weeks. Our plan with the box changed (for the better) and it will now have three diff tunings using add-on ports. 28-29hz for daily, 45hz for SPL and 20hz for fun because I really enjoyed that one trunk car we saw doing 145+ at 17hz haha. BTW my voltage is back up and not dropping past 14v (I was so angry that day lol). I am also upgrading the Hifonics brz1700 to the 2400 for my twelves. Maybe we can meet in like Richmond or something
  10. We got a letter the other day stating that our insurance rates were going to rise due to the Affordable Care act. We contacted Blue Cross today to find out what the rate increase would be. BCBSNC will be raising rates 52-80%. Thanks to our age, the purchase of a high quality plan, and previous health issues we can expect to see rate increases in the upper tier. But fortunately for us, the government will help subsidize the rate increases!!! NOT!!! We make too much money. So now what do we do? I am planning on dropping insurance, eating the new tax, and sucking the system whenever we get sick. I am fucking tired of paying for the lazy fucktards of the country and getting shit on in return.
  11. name droppers !! you said hoe.. lol
  12. i would have been scared letting it burp for so long!!!
  13. lol you mark my shit negative because your a fool? lol ok .
  14. Didn't think so..............
  15. 1/0 aluminum is the exact same size as 1/0 copper, unless one manufacturer is lying. AWG doesn't change based on conductor material. AWG is not based on current carrying capability, it is based on cross sectional area of the conductor. This doesn't change when a different material is used. CCA is aluminum and is garbage. It is a marketing gimmick. Copper cladding on the aluminum is used for looks as there is no skin effect with DC to make the cladding worth anything.
  16. some will not like my response..... but to cut right to the meat of it... at your run length and draw. get what you can afford.
  17. @ tuning DD-1 works fine, if you use it right. Not setting your gains with -15.... It doesn't work for setting gains, fucking stupid device.
  18. 1 point
this is what I read.... a/s/l
  19. yeah the Sa 8 is too deep .. thats why i was looking at the Sd8 and the E8v2 the depth i can find on the boxes im looking to use is 5.25 and thats based on a 6 inch diameter motor i was looking at the Dcon 10's but they are too deep... i really do not want to build my own box. i would rather just order a made to order one.
  20. This is what i did with my last build. When 1 run of copper cost as much as 2 runs of CCA, i go CCA. It can handle more current and less voltage drop. I make my own fuse blocks, termination points, etc so it's well worth it in my case. Copper handles more current and has less voltage drop. You have the terminology backwards my friend.
  21. There is no such thing as under powering, period.
  22. i would also like to know this, and also what is the diameter of the motor it is above or below 6 inchs ?
  23. No, you are not understanding this thread. Copper vs CCA or aluminum is better but not 2x CCA vs 1x copper, lol. 2x 1/0 CCA has the capability of being just as strong if not stronger than 4/0-300MCM Copper.
