Just out of my experience, the design you have on the port has yielded you a very poor output. With the numbers you put up & equipment, you cou do far better with a simple redesign of your enclosure. The port design is killing your output. With a dual common chamber you should never increase then decrease port area as you have done in the design. Modeling the design with such a dramatic change in the flow on the port is next to impossible to accurately model. You should keep the port equal throughout in the design and you will put up higher numbers on output. I managed going from 146 up to a 150 on 2-15" Icon (3500rms @ 32hz) just by redesigning and testing about 6 different enclosure designs. Change the internal net volume and port volumes, then adjust tuning to accommodate you vehicle peak. After that, model the enclosure to find a comfortable preference on the tuning to accommodate your response graph.
  2. Yeah you guys are a big help. And not bustin my nuts in the process. I appreciate that. So what kind of watt range should I be looking for for this 4 channel amp ?
  3. If your mids are 4 Ohms, you won't play at 2 ! It's unnecessary. I was worried about the loos of power from going to a 4 Ohms set, to an 8 Ohms one, but it was a mistake : less power, but absolutely no loss in output, with the new speakers ! You're in good hands here, with M5. Just do what he says ! Get a mini dsp and a 4 channels amp. Keep the ssa mids, and your current tweeters until the SSA ones (I'm waiting for them too) come out. It's what I did in my car, and I love it ! The mini dsp is easy to use. I set the crossovers a few time, and a few weeks later, I used the Time Alignment settings : it's amazing !!!
  4. Ok. I already ordered the 4ohm 6.5 ssa drivers
  5. If it helps, this is a great resource that I use on you tube... He has a large amount of vids for Fords & used to be a ford tech. Sorry for the kinda wacked link but you can find his stuff on YouTube.
  6. There are two things I have never had since I got "serious" into car audio. A 10" sub, or a decent dual sub setup. So this is my build for two 10" xcons! Im super excited, they should be finished building and arriving soon, I hope. I am fitting the maximum dimensions of my trunk while still being able to fold up the stock floor and access the spare tire. I was left with 3.11 internal cubic feet without sub, bracing, 45s, or port displacement. This is firing into the car, so I also needed the subs and port to be on the same face. The triangle port is unconventional but takes up less volume than a typical slot port inside the box and also has less port wall surface area, so I'm hoping it works out. That angle took some wizardry to figure out, and it still came out a little crooked but oh well. The "45s" are little pine cove trim pieces, figured this is the best I can do without sacrificing internal volume. I used minimal bracing but it should be enough, and undercoated everything with two cans, I honestly dont think it does anything but I like to do it on my boxes. it gives a solid completed look to the inside of the box and its extra leak insurance. Final volume and tuning should be 2.4 cubes at 31 hz with 25 sq in port area. The box is a little too small and the port is a little too small, but its all the space I have. Got some black base down and some custom copper orange pearl, trying my best to match the faceplate of my Crecendo BC3500. All thats left is to carpet it with black felt, wire the drivers in, and go to town!
  7. I have to drop one more update now that these pups are mostly broken in. They are absolutely phenomenal. Im in love! Flat as a pancake from 30-60, solid midbass rolloff so they blend well, and they can dig down to 25 before losing most of their output. Did I mention the really loud part on ~3k, yeah they do that really well too. I had a few friends throw random demo songs at them and everything sounded crisp, sexy, and loud. Thanks SSA!
  8. Made some awesome progress this weekend!! Got my terminal hole cut then went to carpet town. Its hard to get the gloss metallic combo in a picture, this was the best closeup I could get Im very happy with the results. Of course there a few imperfections but thats DIY life. Up next is the wiring. My homemade terminals hold two strands of Sky High 8 gauge perfectly. Man I really want these subs to show up soon now that the box is finally ready. Stay tuned for their arrival!
