  1. Yes and also remember to subtract speaker displacement and any internal bracing. Roger that, so subtract .18cuft(BTL) and would you suggest internal bracing? Ill be running maybe 1900Wrms or a lil more to each.. with 1in MDF and Ill screw it all together and use the sealant around the seams and stuff.. And thanks a lot for the help, very useful With 1" MDF and a slot port you should be fine! I would use a quality wood glue like Titebond and clamps when attaching your panels. Don't over do it on the screws. Ha quality wood glue, Ill drop $3000+ for a system but buy the cheapest glue possible Ill make sure of that and how many is too many would you suggest?
  2. Heres my 2cents, do you really wanna go through all that just for one more seat? And if so what if you buy another 'captains' seat and mount it back there instead of having half a bench?
  3. HAHA true that! I love this place.. It has so many resources and helpful people, all the research needed concentrated to one site..

  5. Well I use this site plus some very reliable sources, and that guy uses sources that tell him 86% eff amps suck and lower Hz are used for competitions.. so I think I have a better backing. And Im working on the big3, 2 batts with 0ga all the way, he has stock elec and a 5F cap.. I think Ill win.. but yea, just askin you guys
  6. Alright and when your measuring the internal volume you take the width*height*depth and subtract the total volume of the port right? So if I have a box 14*14*22 for internal dimensions and a port 2.5in wide, and 14in tall, and 26in long(35hz), I would do the volume calculation and subtract the port volume from overall box volume correct?
  7. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp what about that site?
  8. I want to check some numbers but Im not sure if there are any trustworthy sites.. Got any?
  9. Ok I have a friend gettin two alpine mrp2000 amps each pushin about 2248wrms at 2 ohms and hes running that to two alpine Type X 12s.. Now me being me I just wanna 'keep up and surpass' him and Im gettin 2 BTL 12s with a Sundown 3500D but I dont have either yet.. Will my car still be louder? p.s. I plan to have 2.5^3 for each sub and tuned to about 35hz
  10. Yeah I feel your pain there since my starting battery is in the trunk as will be my secondary battery when I get one. Yea no joke, its funny when people are like pop your hood and let me see.. they look and they are like wtf wheres your batt? What kinda car you got?
  11. also is the 3500D underrated? Should I expect around 4kw or 3500-3800kw? All Sundown amps are underrated, your making this amp selection process harder than it has to be. Whomever your listening to about the information their giving you about the efficiency of an amp at 4ohms when you wont even use it at that ohm load should not be listened too. I think you may need to start at a lower power level amp. What equipment are you using, what electrical upgrades are you gonna do or have done? Im going to do the big 3 with a 220a alt, and two HC2400 batteries, plus the 3500D and two BTL 12s.. Makes sense to me, and the guy was a friend who I trust but yea, hes wrong on that one part I guess huh.. Just because you know someone and trust them doesnt mean they know everything. Make sure you read up on everything your doing such as Big 3, upgraded alt, how to wire those batteries and so on to get a good install. I wouldnt suggest you and your friend do this install unless you guys really know what your doing. Well im really good when it comes to wiring and electronics.. Im self taught so I dont really know terms but big 3 is ground and power wires on batts and alts, and I know what Im doin for the most part, just he threw that in and he was told that from an audio store that sell him stuff so thats why I believed it, but I believe this site and you guys more. Me and a totally different friend plus and uncle who used to compete will be putting this build together. ps the only thing that sux about the big3 for me is I have to run a 0 or 4ga wire from the front of my car to the rear, where all 3 batts will be..

  14. So just forget about the whole eff thing? with the 4ohm 100hz 86%? And I was thinking what if I get the 2000D, one for each sub, would that be fine?
  15. So I was running two subs before, 500RMS, 1500 peak with DVC and I only hooked up one coil and ran about 600RMS through it.. So if its 500RMS that means 250 per coil?
  16. Alright lol thanks you guys helped me a lot.. I got super lost
  17. ok not gonna lie, thats kinda confusing to me and I was planning on a 2400 kinetic batt per amp, 220amp alt(220 output at 1800rpm), and big 3? big 3/0 gauge wire you mean? IMO It seems like your not ready for a big system like your planning. Your going to need 2-4 2400 per amp depending on amp. And big 3 is upgrading your main grounds and power wires under hood. The alternators grounds/outputs and stuff right? Also my cars battery is in the trunk, so yea.. But I can handle it, Im just being mislead in so many ways lol

  20. holy shit 555 total? and I would but I am addicted to louder, so its BTL all the way for me probably gonna cost around 3Gs for me
  21. Well they said 86% @ 4 ohms at 100Hz is bad, and showed me these.. I was surprised myself. Im planning on 2 BTLs so I was counting on 2 of the other amps listed, I want 2kw rms atleast on each. So the 4500D is perfect right? 2 ohms on the subs, 1ohm at the amp.
  22. Id say just build a box that matches Fi's site enclosure recc's..
  23. does it have great SQ? I mean I understand its a massive amp but yea.. So you think the original plan for the 4500D is still the best idea? And if I run it at 1O for 2 12 BTLs it should be fine?
  24. Yea, I didnt think it was either, but all the amps I posted do rated power, then some. and the sundown has a 'supposedly horrible' eff ratio.. Im so confused now.. I was just gonna get the 4500D plus the BTLs but then my friend told me about that eff thing now Im lost lol
  25. So if I get a DVC 2ohm BTL that means there are two voice coils, which just ONE can handle 2kwrms correct? So if I hook up 2kwrms to each, shouldnt that work? Or lets say 1500 on each coil for less heat? Yes yes I understand Im retarded, but you never learn if you never ask P.s. figured out my other question..
