  1. got the box done, wired up, and in the car. I got the pods done except for tomorrow Im gonna grind down any high spots and smooth it up as best as I can(or as good as needs be) with the grinder, then I have some polyfill type material to wrap it in and then black vinyl to go over that. UPS says my dash kit is here tomorrow so I can get the deck installed for good. get my tweets in the door and mount the crossovers. then the worst part- getting the wiring into the door... then put all the trim back in(except the rear section where I still need to get a new seatbelt) and its finished. cant do the big 3 because I need to take the ring terminals to my grandpas house and put them in the vice and drill out the hole a little bit on a few. 1st layer of glass couple more (probably overbuilt this thing but oh well) subs about to go in all wrapped up and its in!
  2. I personally wouldnt trust the light to set the gains, what sub/s are you gonna run because that amp can put out 2200+ and you might not need to throw all that power at the sub/s. theres a sticky in this section about setting gains, an oscope wouldnt hurt but at the same time you can get by without it as well.
  3. then when somebody gives you one you can just turn around and send it my way.
  4. the nine.1 puts 1200+ at 1 ohm though, how come youre now looking for only 600? always nice to have power to spare.
  5. yeah, not sure the price of leather vs vinyl, but I bought some vinyl to cover my pods today and its 10 bucks a yard, so depending on the box your gonna need at least 2 probably if not 3 yards. so vinyl will be a little more than triple the cost of carpet, then theres even more money since its leather.
  6. I ended up going to walmart and picking some up for 8.88 a roll, 3'x6' I first went to checkers to get it, but it was 13.99 for a roll the same size. different brand names but I swear they both originated from the same factory.

  8. Im doing the circumference method on my next box as well.
  9. AW120Q? or AW1200Q? ive never heard of the 120's before, and Ive owned the 1200's before. I had one 12 in a box that was around 3.5 tuned to 35 off around 400+ watts and it was pretty damn loud. and Ive never heard a Xcon, or a Q, or anything like that, but I had no complaints with the sound of it, because I was more interested in loud, which it was. both the other series of bahns Ive had were both in pretty big boxes also. never gave any of them their actual RMS rating, but I always had them in a pretty big box. and they all lived through it.
  10. neither of the links work for me.... every other website works for me though... weird thing is my mom called me earlier (I tell her to email me if its not important so I dont have to talk to her 8 times a day! lol) and it was to tell me she couldnt email me cuz hotmail wouldnt work for her but it worked for me. she has a different ISP than I do, I was gonna have her try PE for me but she was no longer at her computer. not sure whats up, because I also wanted a pair of those active crossover simulators to use as a preamp SSF for the wifes car.
  11. maybe he mislabeld the height/width/depth. because one measurement he gave was 16", so maybe his height was 16, width is 21, depth is 20. although that puts it way out of scale in the drawing because if it was 20 deep, that 12" port is way to long compared to the 8" behind it. but the 2" wide ports arent close to scale in regards to a 21" width, so it could be 16 tall and 20 deep. I plugged it all into winisd and assuming 3/4" port walls, and your 12" port is measured from the face of the box and only extends into the box 11.25" as well as the port being 16 and the height being 16. then I got 3.316 ft^3 tuned at 52.35 if you took one of the ports and broke out the inner port wall, and cut a little 2"x16" peice of mdf and glue it in to seal off one port, then the box becomes 3.6ft^3 tuned to 35.5, but then youre quite a bit short on port area as it will be 24 in^2 where it should be anywhere between 43 and 58 in^2. you might end up with port noise, but if you got lucky and didnt, this box would at least sound alot better than in its current configuration. it could get you by while you wait to buy/build a new box.
  12. ah, I hate those damn spec v's. well, not really but I used to have modded hondas and now im in a bad spot with money and drive a junker while a buddy has a spec v and I always get to hear from his wife how "fast" their car is. because the closest thing to speed I have right now is the wifes 01 accord w/ intake and exhaust and its not enough to keep up with a spec v(I/H/E). I wouldnt have thought they had the room in their trunk for one of these though. but I guess if you want it to fit that bad theres always a way. Im gonna have to put a H22 in my 93 I guess. lol anyways good luck on the sale.
  13. upload to something like photobucket, and then copy the link they give you and then paste it into a post. just get a hatch like an integra or something and throw that 15 in there. just make sure you at least get the gsr so that after you have that monster in a huge box, all that weight will only slow you down to about a non vtec.
  14. not a bad car for 16 either... I drove a 72 superbeetle at 16, then upgraded to a 78 280 at 17! so youre doing good as far as that goes. until you figure something permanent, fold a small kitchen towel lengthwise and make it narrow and stuff it inbetween the window and trim. also, build a nice ported box for those subs.
  15. is the motor still bigger than the basket?
  16. nobody said they dont sound good, or wont work back there, its being said that it would be better to put them up front if possible, because you want the sound coming at you from the front, and not the back. and you have no crossover on them at all? no LP, no HP? what kind of enclosure?
  17. well, maybe Ill check that out someday, but now that its working Im gonna focus all my energy on my setup until its done.
  18. well, didnt get as much done as I wanted. me and the lady went to breakfast since it was her day off, then home depot. then I had to help her take her seats out because she wanted to really get her car clean. but I got the radius's in the box glassed and got the pods built/wrapped/first layer of glass brushed on. tomorrow Im gonna go to walmart and get my carpet, because I cant even browse parts-express right now, plus Id have to wait on shipping... I think I am going to wrap the pods in vinyl. probably black because the dash is black and I think that will look better than the wrong color of tan. I was going to paint it but I really hate sanding so if Im only going to wrap it in vinyl I barely have to sand it at all. I also made them so they utilize the stock grilles, screws to the door panels in 4 places and pops into the door in 3 places. Im going to try and put some foam between the panel and the inner door right around this setup to somewhat seal it to the door, and to help stop any possible rattles. basically the only things I am waiting on now to finish it up are: *the dash kit to get the cd player installed permanenetly *carpet for box *vinyl to wrap the pods(and to finish them of course) also, unrelated to audio, I have some tint coming thats supposed to be cnc cut to fit my car perfectly with no trimming so Ill see how that goes. they have about 27k messages in their feedback and its 99.6% positive and all they do is tint so it must fit pretty good. I got 35 for the front, and 20 the rest of the way around. wanted to go 5% in the back, but the law here is 33% minimum VLT for the front and I have gotten in enough trouble before to where I dont wanna draw any attention to myself. and I thought 35 would look dumb right next to 5 so thats why I got 20% for the rear. and it was only 27 shipped so worst case is Im out a little money, best case- my windows are tinted.
  19. I can still get to the pages in my history and thats it. Im using firefox as well. I heard that they had carpet for speaker cabinets for a cheap price. but since I cant get to the site, Im just gonna get some from walmart tomorrow so I can carpet the box, got the glass done today so now its carpet, wire subs and install.
  20. alright, I think it must have just been bad connections at the battery. took the seats out to vacuum under them, and had to disconnect the battery so that I could disconnect the side air bags to get the seats out, and now its working much better after reconnecting the battery. battery was sitting at 13.02 when I popped the hood (had been running about 10 minutes before though so not sure if it would drop as it sat for a while) never even got to the 2k rpm tests because the results at idle were good. all these were at idle. no load: alt-14.75 batt-14.14.41 headlights only: alt-14.67 batt-14.28 headlights and system cranked (tones were MP3's and her deck doesnt play em, I forgot about that, but I played a lil wayne song thats pretty bass-heavy. best I could do at the time) alt-14.41 batt-14.23 amp-(when there was a pause, it would go right to 14.15 and stay, lowest it ever hit was 13.6x) also, no dimming of dash lights at all, no dimming of headlights at all either. dome light does dim though, but it must just be something with that circuit because it was the only light that suffered from dimming.
  21. no, read the sticky about setting gains. bad voltage drops will f the amp though
  22. at least its not a 93 sedan. lol
  23. I think you went and checked your thread without seeing the second page. my question was the last post on page one, and he already answered in the first post on this (2nd) page.
  24. I always use winisd, start a project and then enter in the volume of my box, enter the number of ports and port area, and then keep adjusting the tuning freq. til the port length it gives you matches the length of the port in the box.
  25. at least Im not the only one not paying attention. the link to the vid is right at the bottom of the post. and the answer to my question (what year is it? -> 2008) was right in the topic...
