  1. awesome. nice to know electrical should be good. thanks
  2. the sundown saz 1500d is able to be run lower than 1 ohm? or at a .5 ohm load? did i read this right? lol..
  3. Ok, sorry to jump in here so late.. i read most of the first page and the 2nd page. I suppose my battery question can go here. No need to start another one. M y situation is this.. I have a.. hell i dont know what it is battery in front. its not very big, not name brand. kinda weak to be honest. and i just got my Kintik HC2000 in today.... hooking them up i understand, my question is will there be a problem if the batteries dont match? id hate to have to go buy another one..no aftermarket electrical has been installed in the vehicle. Im taking my time, i have a pile of goodies sitting in my room for when i install everything including a 220 amp HO alternator, all 0 gauge wire, sundown 1500 and a crap load of connectors and fuses...sub will be ordered by the end of the month... so back to my question.. will there be a problem running a power wire between positive on the starting and positive on the kinetik? If it is a problem will just scraping the old cheapo battery and slappin the kinetik in there as a single battery be ok?
  4. worked just fine. replaced the 80AMP fuse in the front (thought it was a 60 lol) with a 150 ANL knu fuse. And let me say.,. that audiopipe 1500 is a bad little sob. shocked the shit out of me to be honest. such a small amp and so much power. it's only hooked to a set of kicker cvr 12's right now and it blew me away.. cant wait to build him a box this weekend for his Q and see what it can do. im expecting something real sweet
  5. kinda had my mind made up before i posted this thread bud. but appreciate it goin with the 18" BTL hence the title "Looking for an amp for BTL 18". already have the sundown 1500.. you guys can let this thread fall to the bottom for anyone who has the same question one day. also let me add this.. my friend got his hands on a audiopipe 1500 and we hooked it up today.. that little sucker is powerful! shocked the hell out of me.. if that sundown wouldnt have came through at the price i got it.. audiopipe WOULD have been my choice, and from this day on.. if im asked what is a good budget amp.. audiopipe will be my answer. very impressed. You guys know what your talkin about thats for sure. .. well most of you
  6. the audiopipe 1500 is tiny.. i expected something bigger. the terminals look so small lol.. i had to have him make sure a 4 gauge wire even fit in the positive terminal. he says it fit.. there is no way in hell that amp will take anything bigger thats for sure.
  7. when he first decided to run a system in his car he went out and bought a monster cable 4 gauge power/ground kit. I think it should do alright, just 1 Audiopipe 1500 and a Fi Q 12". i know 1 gauge is optimal, but im thinking he should be alright with 4. its not some flea market brand wire, he went with monster. not my number 1 choice but hey... its not my ride either lol.
  8. ok. good enough for me. appreciate it. ill be staying away from these little bastards
  9. awesome, appreciate the help. roughly 45 minutes to get an answer. one that i TRUST!. you guys are great.
  10. lol.. 1 for 2 fuses 1 for 1 fuse.. lol.. im assuming either way ill be alright.. so this is what i think were gonna do.. gonna go out and buy 1 150amp ANL fuse and replace the glass fuse in front.. leave the back without a fuse.. this sound ok to you guys? am i in any danger?
  11. ive had him spending a bunch of money lately lol.. just adding to it with this stuff.. but if they are a must have then it has to be done. rather order up the fuses from knukonceptz but i dont think he is gonna wait, so we might be goin to the local rip off shop to get them lol... probably 30$+ a piece without fuses lol.
  12. ok, so 150 it is, as i mentioned his setup will i need 2 150's? 1 up front and one in back? just want to get this straight up.. is replacing both fuses a must?
  13. He also mentioned one of those circuit breakers lol.. i used to have one and he liked it.. believe the shop around here that sell's those the amp rating is around 100-150.. is that too much? is it pointless to run 1 of those in the back and still keep the glass 60amp in the front? lol.. still a little uncertain with my fusing.
  14. ok, im thinkin in his car he has a glass 60amp fuse in front within 18" or so of the battery. So basically i want 2 fuses in the same strip.. 1 close to battery.. 1 right before it enters into the amp's + terminal? will another 60amp glass fuse be ok for this amp? He wants me to help him install tomorrow when we get off work i just want to make sure we are prepared.
  15. Just got my friend to pick up a audiopipe 1500 today, heard it is a decent budget amp. Notice it has no fuses, the guy tells me it needs external fuses. I understand what that means, but is there a distance from the amp these need to be? a certain amp rating they need to be? will the main fuse coming off the batt under the hood running to the amp be sufficient? just want to make sure i get this right before helping him install. thanks
  16. Well.. i have 2 different head units.. 1 which is a cheaper alpine.. think the voltage on it is low. have another premier that i believe has 5volt out?? could be wrong, might be 6, who knows lol.. well i have swapped deck's on the same system before.. the premier with the higher output forced me to turn the amp down. brought alot more power out of the system where the alpine i had to crank it back up. Also ive had a few EQ's along time ago that supposivly upped the voltage and lead to alot cleaner power.. Just thought it couldn't hurt. but so many of you saying i should walk away.. I respect your opinions, you guys know your shit im sure. but what exactly makes you guys think that way, just so i can further understand and not recommend these to any friends of mine. I have a friend who has a cheap pioneer that im sure the voltage is low on it, thought this would be a great product for him and while i was at it order myself one..
  17. Alright.. i ran into these things they call line drivers.. lol.. seem's pretty simple. rca's in then rca's out and bam.. higher voltage.. is it as straight forward as that? is there anything to watch out for? i see several brands including pheonix gold, rockford, hifonics and audiocontrol.. Do you guys use them? if so what are your thoughts? Just trying to get an idea of these things from all of you before i go out and buy one. cause so far its got my attention... thanks for any info you guys have.
  18. very cheap.. but test it well and if it works properly.. grab it up and you got yourself a hell of an amp for a good price. If you know where to look you can find cheap stuff all day long. picked up a killer sundown saz1500d for 270$ the other day :/ or a FI Q 12" for $150 (for a friend). just check it out real good, make sure terminals arent all beat up and make sure it works. then run like the wind
  19. still sunday.. thinkin your going to have to wait till tomorrow (Monday) for the answer your looking for.
  20. ok right on. and these amp's are decent enough to run a Fi Q properly? Other option was a hifonic's 1000 amp. probably the maxxsonic's one :-/ vehicle is stock electrical, no battery's. just wanna get the Q movin is all, if we try to push it more he will probably grab up a smaller kinetik for the back.
  21. Ive read several different things about this amplifier throughout this forum. Some people say its a good amp but only does its power at 2 Ohm.. i goto the actual website and it appears its stable at 1 ohm. let me cut to the chase. Friend needs a budget amp for his Fi Q 12" sub. Found a audiopipe 1500d on craigslist locally that is for sure in the budget. Guy says its hooked up so we can hear it work before purchasing. If this amp isnt 1 ohm stable then its pretty much worthless to us, since the fi Q is a dual 2 ohm sub and were planning on 1 ohm stable here. im going to attach a picture of the amp. If you guys know FOR SURE about these amp's please post, i appreciate it. Amp is also posted on ebay which leads me to believe its going to be in decent condition. pic is blurry, but anyone who plays with these amps should know whats up.
  22. maybe it was 1.4-1.5.. i dont remember now LOL.. but they were damn near identical on each side.
  23. we put the meter on each coil. 1.5-1.6 each... plugged it in free air and heard no scraping or rubbing sounds at all. Any other tests we can try?.. if there is something wrong i would like to get it back to the guy we got it from. plans are for it to just sit around till an amp is purchased and a box is built.
  24. Ok understood. thanks
  25. there may have been a more appropriate woofer.. but he got the guy down to 150 for a 12" Q in what appears to be perfect condition. cant pass that up, dont think he will be upset with his purchase.
