Questions about the 187.
It was a joke. Chill out.

Questions about the 187.
I might. Ok, so if they are dual 4 ohm, is there any way to run two of them off an MTX RFL600D at 2 ohms? I was never really good at figuring out multiple sub wiring. I'm basically trying to decide between 2 187's (I'd have to build a box) or a single LI (already have a box). Daily driver, all types of music.

Questions about the 187.
I'm trying to do a budget build for my truck and am very interested in the 10" 187's. I've got a couple of questions about them. 1) What is the actual ohm load/number of voice coils? According the IA's website, under "187 Series" it states 6 ohm, but under "Recommended Enclosures" it states dual 2 ohm. SSA's website says dual 4 ohm. 2) How much power will they actually take? I know they are rated at 300 watts, but I read a review (not sure where but I'll try and find it) that says they will easily take double their RMS. After these questions get answered I'll probably have a few more. Dan

How much air space?
After taking a look at what space is there, it looks like nothing substancial is going to fit under the seats. However, I'm still open to the possibility of unbolting the passenger side seat and using that space (need to measure the available space to see what will fit). Also, the storage tray under the rest of the seat looks like a good spot for an amp rack.

How much air space?
I've got a 2000 Dodge Dakota Club Cab. I was wondering if anyone has any idea how much air space I can get under the rear seats? I don't have a problem ripping out the jack holder, storage tray, etc, but I really don't want to do any kind of modifications such as lifting the seats and such. I did find a Q-Logic enclosure for a single 8" sub that is .35 cubic feet. I know that MTX makes Thunderforms (or whatever they are called now) that hold 2 10's, but I'm having trouble finding what kind of airspace they run. These were just for references. If I can make it work I will build my own enclosure. The thing that worries me is finding a GOOD sub that will fit. I'm looking at brands like Fi, DC, IA, etc, but I don't know if there will be enough room for those that have larger magnets. Now it's obvious that I'm not going for an SPL monster, but I would like quite a bit of output if possible. I'll be using an MTX RFL600D and would like to run it at 2 ohms. I listen to just about everything. I'm not real sure what to do. The only other thing I can think of is take the passenger side rear seat off (it's split something like 80/20) and build a box in that space. It would stick up over the remaining seat line, but as long as I make it look "stock" it would work just fine for me. If I did it that way I could go with a larger sub. Anyway, that's what I'm working with here. Any thoughts or ideas? Dan

New guy from Kansas.
A small town about 40 miles south of Topeka. Well, as old as that movie is, he's probably dead.

New guy from Kansas.
Hi all. Another new guy here. Been lurking for a while and finally decided to introduce myself. I'm Dan from east central Kansas. I was into car audio in high school and for a few years after, but got out of it about 5 years ago. Somehow I came across ***** *****'s videos on Youtube and got bit by the bug once again. Looking to build a small system for a 2000 Dodge Dakota Ext. Cab since I've only got one payment left on it (yes!). Very intrigued by the non-mainstream brands that have come out since I've been out of the scene and I'm having a hell of a time deciding what to get. That's about it. I'm a pretty boring person. Dan
