  1. How expensive can the deadening be ? Just curious. And I will try too. I'll visit some shops I know of.
  2. Ok, So. I'm going to be getting a 1989 Jeep Cherokee sport soon here, and plan to do a decent build with it. One that I can afford of course. I don't really have a set budget, but I'm just looking for some certain things, and will amass the money over this summer. First of all, I already have a sub for the car, which is currently in my room. 18" Fi SDD (copper coil only) w/ a 9cuft box @32hz. Sounds fantastic off of my receiver in my room. I'm sure it will sound even more fantastic inside of a vehicle with the right amp. I also already have a head unit I got from a friend for cheap, a Pioneer DEH-2100IB. Right now I was looking at the Sundown SAZ-1000D. Seems to be a perfect amp for an SSD, although I'm not sure if my alternator will be enough for it. Anyone else agree, or maybe have one for their sub ? Also, I know the terminals on the amp are for 4 gauge wire, but maybe I could fit 1/0 in the terminals ? Wouldn't hurt to have the wire, but maybe it's overkill for the wattage I'll be running ? KnuKonceptz seems to be what a lot of people around here buy from, and there 1/0 gauge amp kit isn't too expensive: 1/0 Gauge Wire Maybe I should just stick the the 4 gauge they have though ? I'm unsure. I'm also looking for some good component speakers for the doors. The doors are 5.25" with a 3" depth. I'm looking for SQ with my fronts. I don't really need strong bass out of them, as my sub will handle that fine, and as of right now I only want one pair as I won't replace the back doors right away. And last, I might want to pick up some dampening. I'm not sure what most people use, but whatever is really this best for the price sounds great to me. Any recommendations and help are appreciated

I wouldn't say its looked down on, just that more people tend to go for the BL or BTL when it comes to Fi subs, since they are known to be the loudest of the Fi lines. I myself have an SSD 18, 9cuft box ported to 32hz. It's not in a car though, it's actually in my room. But it is still very, very loud. I listen to mainly rap, but it works well with all my other music too. I highly recommend one to you
  4. Thanks thats exactly what I was looking for. Good to know for when i get another.
  5. Just curious what the difference are besides the copper coil being standard now. Has any of the specs changed at all ? I don't exactly remember what they used to be. I hope to get another one when i get the money. I'm loving my current SSD 18
  6. Wow I thought everyone knew this lol....
  7. SSD is a great sub man. I have an SSD 18 and couldn't be happier I highly recommend one. They get plenty loud, and work great with all my music. (copper coil option only)

X3 I have an SSD 18 and it pounds.
  9. What he said. I found someone on here also who helped me with my box build.
  10. I'm sure you will be pleased with your purchase. Fi subs really are great. I recently ordered an SSD 18 and am very pleased with it. Now talking about an enclosure, you not suggesting your going to be a prefab one are you ? You should always make your own enclosure. Its the most important part of a system build.

Yea I get that. I will be more careful. But I turned it up yesterday with my new settings and it sounded a lot better.

Its just gains. Its under "Level Cal". I can set dB gain for every speaker (5.1 system).
  13. hatrix replied to hatrix's topic in Fi Technical
Box is 9cu ft tuned to 33hz. Gain on receiver is set to +12 dB for bass. I also use virtual dj and set gains in the program to. It sits at about 5. I think virtual dj is the problem, so I just turned the gain down on my receiver for each speaker except the subwoofer, and I just don't touch the gain now in virtual dj.

To much ? Well my receiver is only 700 watts. That seems rather odd.

Oh yea I hear you. I for sure won't be. I had some people over so it was an odd occasion. I usually listen to it in small amounts.

So I know these Fi speakers can take a beating, but I had my 18" SSD playing for maybe an hour at pretty high volume with some really heavy bass and I noticed a burning smell coming from it. The dustcap was pretty warm. I know its the voice coils, but I play at the same volume all the time and have never had this problem. Is it just because of the extended usage ? I know its not good when it happens. I'm running it off an Onkyo HT-S3100 5.1 receiver. I don't think its clipping, as the receiver would shut off. The sub is fine when not played for extended periods though. Should I be worried ?
  17. Nice looking box. I'm sure they sound awesome.
  18. Prefab box ? Bad choice imo. You will hear a significant difference if you make your own.
  19. So if I run my 700 watt receiver to my 800watt sub it should be ok though right ?
  20. But that wouldn't matter with an in house receiver would it ? They will shut off automatically.
  21. I'm sorry but this thread is lol. But the above response should be all you need now. Right click, copy image location, paste into tab.
  22. Well that's good to know. Guess I can hear what my new sub can do right off the bat.
  23. But if I jus got a brand new sub and cranked it all the way up, wouldn't the spider rip ?
  24. Oh sorry. Google results came up with a crunch amp. Took me a while but I found what he was talking about. Seems like a pretty solid amp. Only thing though is that I won't be buying my amp until around christmas time. Ok will look into it.
  25. Its D2. And the crunch P1500.1 is what you meant correct ? Its rated at 750RMS @ 1ohm. And its $159.00 with free shipping here
