Poll: Text on SI T-shirts
Thanks guys. You've given us ideas for new shirts after this run, but the phrase for this run of T-shirts is staying. For the people who get the reference, it's classic. Two words; Boogie Nights.

Is the 5" 327 driver a Morel?
The only similarity is the look. There are about 5 companies out there that look like Morel's, but aren't. One of them at IASCA finals in '02 had yellow cones but looked identicle other than that. Yes it's a neo motor and has a 3" coil, but that's it. That's like asking if our new woofers are Eclipse's with paper cones.

SI 8s performance
Well I set off an Audi TT's car alarm with it yesterday. Right now the 8 is fighting through two layers of sound deadened steel to get sound into the cab, but it sounds great. For an 8, it goes incredibly low. The only things it doesn't pick up very well are subsonics, but down to 20 Hz is flat in my car. I'm doing my best to take care of it even though my amp could fry it in a second, but other than worrying about blowing it when I have it turned up the woofer is performing great. SQ-wise, the 8 disappears, which is great. The 8 will be KILLER for a two-way horn setup. That's literally all that would be necessary, a horn and our 8 per side.

Poll: Text on SI T-shirts
Knock yourself out on the visor. Just one condition - you must show the forum pictures after it's done. The front of the shirt will have our logo printed on the left breast.

Poll: Text on SI T-shirts
Now, for a little explaining. We're going to have our logo at the top across the back (where your sholderblades are), which is what "SI" is in the poll above. The first option listed above is to put the text "Subwoofers" under our logo and then start the phrase below that. The second option is just for our logo and then the phrase under that. The phrase that we've decided on will take up the back of the shirt, it's not just going to be a little line on the back. So anyway, put "Subwoofers" under our logo or no? I'm voting no, but the VP votes yes, so the rest is up to you guys.

Anybody live in mooresville?
I'm working on the merchandise page right now, but you can buy SI stickers. I just got in a batch of both white and silver large and small stickers. I'm getting some red one's in soon, but I have white and silver in stock right now.

impedance of the 302's?
4 Ohm.

Grills for 302's
302's possibly, but 307 grilles, no such luck. The 302's are a standard 6.5" "S" speaker, so anything OEM "S" should work (AKA: Over-sized). You'll know better once you purchase the last pair of them. Only one pair remains.

hmm
I am closing this thread. I know you guys are anxious about getting your subs, but every customer gets an email with their tracking number when their speakers are shipped. All threads similar to this will be deleted immediately. I am doing the best I can, and all that I ask is that you be patient. You will get your speakers as soon as I have time to test, inspect, break-in, re-package and ship them.

hmm
They will be shipped out today (Wednesday July 30'th).

Anybody live in mooresville?
Yep, that Del Sol is my car. That black Sunfire is my sisters car with one claw-basketed 12" in the trunk. PS: Steve, give me a call sometime. We need to go shows together once I get my 8's in.

SI 8 progress?
Go HERE for pictures of the 8.

SI 8 progress?
True. That 8W7 is by far the best sounding JL sub I've ever heard. But for your Neon...a pair of SI 8's would be the jam.

mag power handling
The mechanical inward limitation of either the new or the older SI 12's is not quite 1.5", which equals out to something around 2.6" total peak excursion. It sure does look like a lot, but it simply can't move more than 3". Either the cone will start hitting the spider rolls or the inner spider joint/roll will start hitting the top plate. Repeated smacking of the spider to top plate or cone to spider is not recommended of course and is not covered under warranty, so be careful.

DB numbers
A tuning difference from 29 Hz to 45 Hz is a HUGE difference. You'll still have bass, and lots of it, but it won't drop as low as before. Just look at where you're tuning the enclosure to. SPL drops off dramatically below tuning due to the way vented enclosures operate. Your SPL score might go up but you will loose low-end. PS: Keep in mind that the type of vehicle, enclosure type, enclosure placement, electrical upgrades, altitude, temperature, and all those other good things come into play with SPL. The same exact setup in two different cars will result in two different SPL readings.

Magnum D2 frequency response
My Koda's are running from 63 Hz on up to 200 for midbass duty and they are coasting. They handle what I've giving them without any problems what-so-ever. 50-65 Hz or higher highpass to the Koda's will do just fine.

Who needs a trunk when you have two 12" D2's?
WOA! SWEET! That install looks great Micheal! Wow...very very nice. BTW: I showed off the 307's in my car this weekend. Most of the responses were "wow". You know that all too well though.

SI 8 progress?
The 8 is fully broken in and sounds phenomenal. It's tight, accurate, and gets really stinking low for a single 8. I was going to put a 12 and two 8's in my car (switchable between the two setups of course) but now I'm just going to put four 8's if that tells you anything. We're working on raising some capital to get them made. Once that happens, a production run of the 8's will be made and all will be well.

They are in folks..
Well fella's, I'm back. The meet in TN had a great turnout of SIN forum members and also with a lot of big-dog's in the industry. The SI 8 and 307's did their fair share of impressing. I'll get to my emails tomorrow. And yes, the speakers are in. None of them have been broken in yet as they are sitting on pallets right now.

Ok. Another question from the new guy...
2 cubes isn't necessary for a 12", but it will certainly do. I say just leave it where it is, it'll perform just fine. As far as sealed enclosures go, there is no such thing as too big.
-
So whats the deal with the 15's?
Click Here They were shipped on Thursday. We should have them in by the end of next week.
-
Ported vs. Sealed
You can also get a 12 second car for $5k, but a Ferrari 360 Modena would still run a 12 sec. 1/4 but be a lot nicer. What I'm getting at is do you just want to be loud and nothing more or get loud and sound good while doing it? If you want to have good SQ while doing it, the choice is obvious...SI. Just ask around on this, or any other, forum.

questions for 12" or 15" with 1000-1500wrms
One of our 12's vented in anything larger than 2 cubes after displcement will be awesome. A 15 sealed will also be really cool. It's always neat to have people ask me "that's two 12's right" or "you mean it's vented...there's no way it can be sealed" when you're running a single 12 with 8 awg power wire and 600 watts (what we did at the '02 IASCA finals).

Finally built my box and amps!
Try 3 years without bass. Home audio is another story, but car audio-wise I've been without a system period for over 3 years. I am finally taking Clarke's advice and actually doing something for myself for once and it will be spectacular.

Box
For multiple amplifiers the Monster kit would be better but for a single amplifier install the Stinger kit will do just fine. What's more important about your box is placement, not the shape of the box. In a hatch, I'd put it as close to the back as possible. And if you end up with right at 2 cubes, I would definately stuff it 50/50 with fiberglas insulation and polyfil.
