yeah i know they make an amazing alt, and its really my only option for my truck, but the website is kind of making me doubt wether or not im buying the alt that fits my truck or not

wow thats weird, im glad you said something cause if you look at this page https://www.dcpowerinc.com/alternators/xp-series.html which is the page right before the actual item, it lists the alt for 629.00 I see what you mean, that is weird. One price on the listing, another on the actual product page. I'd also double check that they are the same alt types for the same vehicle. Just because it says dodge and or jeep doesn't mean they are all the same (although they vary well could be) I know for 50 bucks I'd get the slightly bigger one. they need to fix their website in a few areas definitely if you go to https://www.dcpowerinc.com/vaf/product/list/?category=%3F&year=5&make=79&model=299&engine=687 and click on the first on (270 amp one) you can clearly see that before you click it, it says 2005 dodge dakota 4.7L, then when you click it and go to the item page, it says 2005 dodge RAM 4.7L...im losing my confidence in buying an alt from these guys now, there website is really messed up.

wow thats weird, im glad you said something cause if you look at this page https://www.dcpowerinc.com/alternators/xp-series.html which is the page right before the actual item, it lists the alt for 629.00 i also want to hear from one of the DC power guys to make sure that the alt for the 2005 dodge dakota 4.7L also fits the 3.7L engine, i work at a parts store and today i looked up both vehicles and they both take the same part number for the alt, but DC power doesnt have one listed for the 3.7L, but it should be the same alt, the 4.7 and 3.7 are the same block but with 2 less pistons on the back, they take the same egine accessories i believe, i just want confirmation that it will fit before i do order it.

im taking about comparing the 270 amp XP series alt for my truck to the 250 amp XP series alt for my truck, https://www.dcpowerinc.com/fit/2005~Dodge~Dakota~4.7L-V8/alternators/xp-series/13912-270-xp.html and https://www.dcpowerinc.com/fit/2005~Dodge~Dakota~4.7L-V8/alternators/xp-series/13912-250-xp.html to me, from reading the descriptions the only difference is 20 amps, for 80 dollars more, i guess im just confused as to why they would make 2 alternators in the same series, that have very minimal differences, but a large price difference.

im about to order an alt for my 2005 dodge dakota 3.7L (DC website only lists alts for the 4.7L V8) but they happen to take the same exact alternator anways. so im 100% sure i want to go with the XP series, but they have a 250 amp alt and a 270 amp alt, and i cant really see any other difference other then 20 amps, is it really worth the extra 80 bucks for 20 more amps? that is unless there is more of a difference between the two then i saw.

so i take it the reason no one is responding is the fact that there is no available HO alt for that truck

i might be getting a 2005 ford ranger 4.0 and i want to make sure i can get a high output alt for it before i do buy it, on DC's website it doesn't even have a listing for a 05 ranger but i figured i would ask you guys here if there are any options, preferably a DC alt, im looking for the highest amperage i can get, which going by there normal alts would be like 250-270 amps. thanks guys!

good luck and be sure to do a build log!! i definitely plan on doing a build log, although the build isnt gonna be too fancy, just a box ontop of an already existing false floor, everything else is already done. im just upgrading the substage.

thanks for the help guys, i figured i was right, but i just wanted to double check, if i get enough money back from income tax, im going with 8 sa-8's if not, im going with 4 sa-12's, i know the 4 12's is more cone area, but i like the "wow" factor of 8 subs.

so say if someone was to buy 8 sa-8's and wants to wire them to 1 ohm... would it be easier to take 4, 4 0hm dvc subs, wire them to 2 ohms, and do the same with the other 4, then wire those positives and negatives to the positives and negatives on the amp? or is there an easier way of doing it? i may not even go with 8 sa-8's but if i do i want to understand how to wire up that many subs, because the most ive ever wired up is 2.

i have a 2002 dodge dakota extended cab and im running 2 15's ported, box is under the rear window line. its 2 AQ sdc2.5 15's and it gets loud, but im gonna wall it and do 4 sa-12's. i think i could get roughly 8 cubes under the window like and like 12-13 walled off. just letting you know that you have the room to do it. also this is with the box being only 15 inches deep due to the fact that my amps are infront of the box on a false floor. Thanks for the info, what are the dimensions of your box? my box for the 2 15's is 45 wide, 15 deep and 23 tall. its slightly small for 2 15's but i could of EASILY made it larger. my new box for the 4 12's is gonna be 47 wide, 15 deep and 33 tall.

yeah i got a month or so before im ordering everything anyways so i got a bit of time to think about it. might go with a AQ3500D.. or even better, does anyone know if the crescendo 3k is gonna come back in stock or are they discontinuing it? because that might be the amp i buy, ive been eyeballing it for a while and seems like a good amp.. especially for 550 bucks considering its .5 ohm stable

You can try Strapping 2 Sundown SAZ-1000Ds at 1830 RMS @ 2ohm. They are still $279 a piece on Wooferetc. A 2 ohm load would not be such a strain on the electrical and each SAZ 1000 is about 11" long. well now that you mention that... i am currently running an AQ1200D, i could buy another for 250 shipped and strap it at 2 ohms for 2400 watts, thats probably the cheapest way i can get more power at this point. Sounds good, especially if you already have one now...I am not sure on the watts @ a 2ohm strap...but physical size deminsions look good. The 3500 sounds good too, but looks like you would really have upgrade the electrical, which would be needed anyways either way at this level yeah either route i take i plan on upgrading my electrical accordingly, its in the budget

im trying to design a box for 4 sa-12's and i want to make sure its not too big. its 8.5 cubes after all displacements with 108 sq inches of port area. ill be powering the subs with an AQ2200D so each sub will see roughly 550 watts, which is why i made the box slightly bigger then normal, i just wanted to know if you guys think this sounds ok. ohh and it will be tuned to 32hz

on a side note, i may save up a bit more and grab the 270xp DC alt and grab an AQ3500D. would i need a larger battery bank for that or is what i have sufficient for that?

i have no intentions of ever metering this system, this is just gonna be a daily ground pounder that will get sick nasty low... im probably gonna tune to 30hz. do you guys think i would be fine with a AQ2200D electrical wise? as in pretty much stay above 14volts? and i know sa12's can be in a box up to 2 cubes per sub, but what if i went like 2.2 per sub? would that get me a bit louder off the same power? or at some point is there diminishing returns as far as box size.

see, your automatically assuming i dont have the room for 4 12's.. no i dont want just 2 12's...i have 2 15's right now and i want 4 12's. i have the room and i have the electrical to back it up, so i see no real reason to go with 2 12's which would be a downgrade from what i have. fyi i have 11-12 cubes to work with.. the sa-12''s will require 2 cubes each..so i have 3 cubes for port and sub displacements, and bracing which will consist of 1 1/4 inch wooden dowels which hardly take up any space btw this is an extended cab dakota. im walling it. aww i see now what you are going to do! i guess i should have asked what kind a space you had available and what vehicle you were going into first! and if you were going to do a wall or not lol got ya now wall away! and also i did assume because you didn't tell us/me off the get go what was going on! and since you siad you didn't have room for a BIG battery in the back i assume you didn't have much in the way of room for the subs! hell isn't the hc600 like 4x6x5 size wise? yeah i guess it was my fault for not giving all of the details...this is how its gonna work, im wallling it, and infront of the box on my false floor is where my amps are... there is one in front of the box behind my drivers seat and one in front of my box behind the passenger seat, and the only place i could fit a battery is behind the center colsole infront of the box. there is no room on the sides for anything. but i was toying around with the idea of making a weather proof box in my bed for like 2-3 more batteries, i dunno if i want to get that crazy or not.. cause i do use the bed of my truck for hauling around my atv and whatnot

sorry but i dont agree with your voltage statement.. cause realistically you should be able to stay at 14.4 volts constant if you have the electrical to support your system... right now im running an AQ1200D on the electrical i mentioned minus the DC power alt... meaning im running on a stock alt and i stay right at 14.4 volts even while idle. so yes i would get the 3k out of the AP at 14.4 volts once i get the alt.

thanks for replying, but as mentioned in my first post, my budget is 350 maybe 400.. but not 850 i dont think the SAZ1500 will give the sa-12's the power they can take.. cause that would only be 375 watts each.. maybe like 425 each considering its a bit underrated..but thats still not enough.

im gonna be running 4 sa-12's, my electrical consists of 180 amp dc power alt (coming very soon), big 3, kinetic hc2000 under the hood and a hc600 in the back(all i could fit) so with that electrical, i need an amp that will power those sa-12's @1ohm. im thinking maybe 2500-3000 watts. has to be fairly small...maybe like 12 wide by like 22 long or so. i was gonna get the AP3000 but i dont have room for it unless i mount it on the backside of my box and i really dont want to do that. so any suggestions for amps that fit that criteria that will run with little to no voltage drop on my electrical in the 350 dollar range? i was thinking AQ2200D but i think the sa-12's would like more power

im thinking about going from 2 15's to one 21" DP, my question is what is the recommended box size for these? and can they take more then 1500rms daily? i would be putting 2200rms on it daily. thanks!
