05 chevy malibu. 52xxx put about 20k on it in 3 years. my stepdad has a 2009 toyota camry, owned it since november and already has 25xxx miles.

thats the volume for 1 sub. when we made the box, we had to make the back side 3 inches smaller than the front so that it could slide into my trunk. the total box is somewhat close to 8 ft.

its some what shy of 4 ft. the box is currently tuned at 40hz, which i can lower if need be. I am looking for the loudest subwoofers. I am not too worried about SPL but i dont want it to sound like pure shit. I was thinking about l7s, but thought id ask to get others advice. thanks! btw, i need two and would like to stay under 500 but i can change my price a little higher......... edit, just realized i typed SPL when i meant SQ. its time for me to get sleep. lol

Last time i went to an audio shop i was buying a crunch amp for my friends install. 2 12" kicker cvx's. I asked the guy if he had the terminals to hook the wire up to the amp, he said "you want an amp wiring kit?" i said no, just the terminals, "he said oh ok, yeah right out here." we walked into the shop and asked whhat size i needed, i said 4 gauge. he handed me terminals that could barely fit the 16 gauge speaker wire.

naw, i was eager to hook it up since it took me over 3 weeks to build the box due to florida rain and my work and school schedule. i meant to sauter them together, but i never bought more heat shrink tubing.. idc about the amp anymore. it was a piece and now i have the most awesome end table ever made. A sub box!!

so today i decided to take out my sub box since its doing nothing for me. And when doing this i had saw that the speaker wire had melted. It melted in the spot where i had taped the wire that came from the subs to the wire that goes to the amp. Duct tape fail. but quick question- since the + and - wires proablly touched, causing the amp to burn out. will the subs be burnt too?

Its a 2000 watt volfenhag amp. not sure of the exact model. i had it wired at 1 ohm, and from what i have read online the lowest it should be wired is 2 ohm. It started cutting off after 10 mins, then 5, then 2, then it stopped working. I took the cover off, to look for burnt pieces, but i found nothing. it all looked fine. now, what could cause this? can it be fixed cheaply? if not, could i repair a memphis pr 600 using this amps parts? im uploading pics now and yes, i know this is a POS amp, but currently im saving up to buy a fi btl then a sundown amp. ok, photobucket is being gay so ill get pics tomorrow.

I forgot to add, that my alternator will put out ~13 volts, with no electrics on. Will i have to upgrade it as well?

Once again thank you all. I am going to go with a fi btl 15" and a 2000 watt sundown amp. As of now, I am going to save up and buy the sub. I can hook it up to my shit amp til i save enough for the sundown. But i would like to do the "big 3" to my car because from what i am reading it seems that i will need to add a second battery.. now, do i have to use 0 gauge wire for this? or could i use my 4 gauge wire? (that is hooked up to my 2 amps) I do plan on getting 0 gauge to run from my engine battery to my second battery. And another question, do i need to upgrade my engine battery? its not stock, its an autozone silver one, it currently has 1 more year on warranty. Once again, thanks for the advice/answers.

Thank you. And yes, 500 is a good price for me.. but im confused on this porth thing. do i need 16 cubic inches for each cubic foot that the sub woofer box has? ex- 3 cubic foot box, so i would need 48 inches of port? i used winisd for my last boxes so its confusing without it..

its net space, its a 5 inch port tuned to 38hz.. as said earlier though, i want better sound quality. which is why i would like a sealed box, but i also want to be able to feel my bass.

its an 05, so the trunk is slighty bigger than the older models.. but your right, i dont have room for a battery or anything. my amps are mounted to a piece of wood thats sitting on the 6 inches between my box and the place where my trunk ends. And i want to downsize, but i want a better brand too. im tired of getting tired of the shitty noise my subwoofers make. Which 12" sub would you reccomend, ill make a profit of 200 from selling my kickers. And i usually have around 70 dollars a week that i can blow on whatever.. I would like to get my subs, then buy a better amp ( i know both my crunch and volfenhag are crap). and ps, i think you thought i had all 6 kickers in my trunk, i only have 2. i had all 6 in my explorer, but then me and my mom traded cars.

Whats going on? Im looking to buy some Fi subs so i thought i would register.. currently i have a clarion duz385sat head unit; a 300 watt jbl amp, a 1000 watt crunch amp, and a 2000 watt volfenhag amp; 2 selenium horns; 2 selenium 6" door speakers; and 2 15'' kicker cvr's.. but i hate my cvr's! anyways, nice to meet you all!!
