  1. It's all personal preference. I wouldn't recommend one that is a bass "boost" knob though. And I think I'm speaking for 90% of the people on here when I say that. However, Bass level control knobs are fine, and I find them quite useful. I wouldn't base my purchase on an amp on whether or not it comes with a control knob though. You can always buy an RCA knob from almost anywhere and run it to any amp for cheap.
  2. I had this problem a couple days ago, I checked under the hood to find that a hose (some sort of vacuume hose) had come loose from my engine and was just sucking air, causing my car to idle rough and drop down to the mid 12's voltage wise. I connected the hose back to the engine and haven't had a problem since.
  3. I would have just went with a 12" and built a box to slide in >.<
  4. I'm in the process of doing the big 3 in my '99 Grand Am; problem is, I only have 2 ring terminals to work with right now. Question: If I do the run from my alt to the battery with 1/0 and leave the grounds with the OEM cables until the rest of my terminals come in, will that cause any issues? The current flow to my battery will be improved, but the grounds from the battery to chassis, and engine to chassis will be the same as before. Will this be ok, or should I just wait til I get all my terminals in to do the entire upgrade at once? Thanks in advance
  5. As long as you're happy!! haha congrats?
  6. Since you still haven't stated a budget.. SAZ-1500d
  7. How are you going about tuning your amp?
  8. I'd sell the BL's and pick up a couple Q's or SSD's and have a little extra play money. Or at least Recone the BL's smaller to fit in an optimal ported enclosure
  9. Why are you so hell-bent on buying a new sub if you don't mind me asking? Since you haven't heard its potential in an optimal enclosure yet. You could build a nice box and be blown away with what you already have. I'd at least try it, and if you don't like it, THEN go towards getting the new driver. Could save you 75-150. Just my .2
  10. why not just get another BTL and put one on each.
  11. bump. anyone tried this in their vehicles yet?
  12. that's what I'm sayin! haha.. guess it's a deal then
  13. I had a guy offer me a Kinetik HC600 for $30 today. He said it was in good condition and everything, just trying to get rid of all his old equipment for his new build. Are these things any good, and is this a good price for one? I was planning on getting an extra battery for my trunk soon anyway so this may help.. what do you guys think?
  14. I wouldn't consider an SA-8 a "complete downgrade" from an SSD... Those little farts can put a hurt on a man. Also goal dependent.. The guys burped 150+ off a single SA-8. youtube it. As far as the old vs. new, duran is right. Pretty much just a motor change to a midget BTL motor. The copper coils did add a little more power handling.. but a couple hundred watts isn't going to be audible.
  15. Could you be running your amp at too low of an impedance? Most amps will just go into protect and stay there if this is the case, or if it's a cheap amp, will just fry. Take a DMM to your terminals with the volume up to where the light comes on and see if you're getting a number below the amps stability.
  16. Well I ended up getting called into work right after school today when I planned on shooting my video so I guess I'm out However I did get the song recorded the other night.. I'll probably post it on here just for giggles and let you all see what I was going to be working with. I would do the video tomorrow but I have to work too.. so by the time I got around it'd be past the deadline wish I saw this thread sooner.. Really needed those speakers haha
  17. Thanks for the feedback guys! Much appreciated. I'd love to see it played in your guys setups
  18. I'll be sure to do some with different peaks. Mostly lower (30-37hz). Just keep on the lookout for my posts
  19. Haha! I feel you man. Yeah it's just a copy And pasted loop of chorus/verse. It started out as a legit song, but I felt like adding a low baseline and seeing what I Could with it in my car, so it never really Turned into a full song.. More or less just something to play with bass ya know? My future "songs" will vary more and be more like complete songs and not repetitive loops. As far as music experience, I've been writing and learning since 7th grade. I'm currently a senior in high school, plan on going to MTSU and majoring in recording industry, and minor in music production. Softwares I use are: ProTools Le8, Reason 4, and Cubase. 90% of my work is done in PT, I use reason mainly for sample based stuff, and cubase just for quick audio tests pretty much. Plus countless other small programs that aren't worth mentioning. Thanks for your interest
  20. Thanks for the clarification guys! Is that program freeware or is it buyable somewhere? It looks pretty useful...
  21. Ok so I guess my question would be, could you get a sealed enclosure to produce the lower frequencies comparable to that of a low tuned ported enclosure as far as output goes?
