  1. I have no idea. The quote from shizzon in your last post (second line) could be the reason. He knows more than I do. OT that cat looks pissed!!
  2. I would leave the speaker unhooked, but if the x-overs are effecting that one frequency and not the other or the bass boost is turned on (as shizzon stated) it could effecting the amps output. I'd turn them off or up/down and try again.
  3. I'd look at your manual for the radio. Most/all radio's output 1/2 the voltage with the radio versus cd. This could be the same thing. Do you have a level control for the aux. input? Check out mp3car.com, they have allot of good information on there.
  4. Where are your x-overs set? (infrasonic/subsonic and your low pass) Are they on? Did you have a speaker hooked to the amp when you checked the voltage?
  5. Well, today was almost a total loss. I started by repainting the port and replacing the c.s. screws with button head screws. While I was working on this I was almost run over by two pissed off squirrels. Then my brother comes out of the house to see what I'm doing, he looks up to say something, then his eyes got real big and he took a step back starring a the top of my head. To make a long story short, I thought there was a bee flying around my head or something, so I swatted my hand over my head and hit this praying mantis to the ground. I don't know how long it was there, I never felt it, I was wearing a bandana. It's about 5" long. I thought the screws and the port looked better. Then the brown truck showed up. My fuses, fuse holders, ring terminals, cushioned stainless steel clamps, battery terminal protectors and heat shrink tubing arrived. From this point everything went down hill. I got the black micro-suede out and cut "SUNDOWN" out in 4" tall letters, It looked pretty damn good. I sprayed the super 74 down on the backside of the black, reached over to get the silver suede and the wind folded the black over onto itself. NOW I'M F___KING PISSED!!!!!! I got it laid out smooth again, grabbed the silver and used the roller on it, o.k. I should be good. Right? I flip it over to admire the last 2 hours of work only to see the super 74 bled through the black and it's ruined. :suicide-santa: :suicide-santa: :suicide-santa: :suicide-santa: NOW I'M READY TO START THROWING S__T!!!!!!!!!!! So I head inside to do a search for a better adhesive. I don't find much. I head down to ace hardware to get some stainless wood screws and some stainless finishing washers to do the ends of the box. They had some Elmers spray adhesive that stated "low bleed through", so I bought a can. Well the Elmers doesn't bleed through, but I don't think it sticks either. I wrapped the box and cut the port and holes out. I check in the a.m. to see if it will hold the suede on or if I'm going to have to start over. THIS SUCK'S, a complete waste of a day!!!!!!!!!! If I redo the suede I may try the logo again, but for now this is what it looks like. On another note I picked up some strain relief's from menards to run the 1/0 into the back of the truck. I'll try to get the truck wired this weekend.
  6. Alton: That's good to hear. I've heard allot of people talk about products arriving DOA and such. Ether I've been lucky or they break it and don't own up to it, I'll guess it's the latter.
  7. Alton: Thanks again. I hope it sound good and rattles my teeth when I want it to. I loaded the area between the wood/steel with silicone before I bolted them down, then more silicone to seal the outside after it was bolted down.
  8. I got started this morning, paint is drying right now. I rushed it a little and it's hard to get good coverage now without runs. It doesn't look that good (It's a twenty footer) but doubt anyone will see it. I don't advertise my system. This will be a learning experience to plan a little better next time.
  9. Thanks. Sounds like a good idea, if you can get close enough on the two radii. I'd go schedule 80 on pvc, or fill in between with foam or something.
  10. That may start tomorrow, I also have an alternator to install. I just hope I don't have any issues with the alternator, it's from DB electrical, 200 amp. I've heard some bad things on this forum about them, but i bought it before I knew there could be potential issues. I guess I'll find out soon enough. Somebody, somewhere will find something to complain about on any company. Nobody is perfect, it all comes down to who you're trusting on these issues. So there is a chance you will get a good product! I'm not supporting the company or know much about them/their issues you've seen, i'm just wishing you the best on your install and new gear. Get to it! Very true, I'm on it.
  11. Thanks, I hope to get it covered tomorrow. I'll keep posting pics as I progress.

  13. That makes sense. Have you thought to just ground the amps to the frame? save you some money on the wiring, and some work. I believe either will work, personally i would go this route. I thought about doing that, but I already have the wire and I prefer going directly to the battery
  14. Thanks. The radii are only 11ga. (~1/8") so I can't really countersink them. I made them about 2 months at work and used the smallest punch/die we had, 5/16". I could go to a #8 countersink screw instead of the #10 that I used. If I don't like the button heads I 'll try the #8 out.
  15. Lol, what part of Sundown SAZ-2000 at 1 ohm didn't u understand? And there is no such thing as overkill. I'm right there with ya. i misread, thought it was the 1000d, not 2kd. No problem, Thanks for looking/commenting. I don't know if you read my response or not, but if you didn't: Why 4 runs of 1/0 you ask, because I 'm only doing this once. I'm running 1 positive and 1 negative for the saz-2000d I'm running 1 positive and 1 negative for everything else. I can pull 3 sets of 4 awg. (pos./neg.) off of the second set to run a jl 300/2, saz-125.2 and an undetermined amp to run the front stage when I go active.
  16. Thanks.
  17. I hit one of the local fabric shops yesterday looking for something to cover the enclosure with. I've done vinyl in the past, but thought I'd change it this time. I found this fleece and felt, nothing else really caught my eye. I wasn't really happy when I left the store. I picked up some paint for the port and the area around the woofers. I also got some super 74 adhesive. I don't like the look of the the countersink screws that I used, so I picked up some stainless steel button heads to replace them. Today I went to another fabric shop and ran across this microfiber suede. I was much happier when I left with my this material. I also hit an arts-n-crafts store and got these. I hope it turns out as good as I have it pictured in my head. It should look like this, but black/silver instead. I'm golfing tomorrow, It's supposed to rain mon/tues.. I may have some more pics wed, I hope.
  18. Edit on my first post > the enclosure is 3.2 c.f. net, not 3.6 c.f..
  19. Thanks Lance. If you saw how far the countersunk bolts actually stick out you'd change your mind. I'm going to change them out for some stainless one's. I probably should have made the radii out of stainless now that I think about it, oh well there's always next time.

  21. I'm a steel fabricator by trade, so it is cheaper and easier for me. Shit it's free and the only cost is my time, come to think of it I was on the clock when I "nipped" them so I guess I got paid to do it. Why 4 runs of 1/0 you ask, because I 'm only doing this once. 22. Thanks J. I think they look retarded sticking out like that. I've still got allot of work to do in order to get the box in the truck. Then there's still the front stage, that I haven't had time to mess with. How are your doors coming along? I haven't seen any updates in a while, believe I'm subscribed to your thread.
  23. Thanks everybody, for your comments. I think I'm going to replace the countersink screws with some button head screws, they look pretty stupid sticking out like that.
