  1. The horns are disconnected. It sounds great for rock and some techno. I love how it get the mirror moving with drum kicks. I have it crossovered at 100hz with 24db slope. Well i have an idea I will get my electrical upgraded and wait for my xcon to get back from the shop, and I will see if I like the way it sounds with the pa speaker hooked up at the same time, and I will let you know how it sounds, i have a separate amp i can use for the pa speaker.
  2. Also to let you know the kind of sound im going for, I currectnly have a 15" 150rms radioshack pa speaker in the back and it hit all those note I want with ease. So basically i'm looking to blend the punchyness of a pa speaker with my xcon.
  3. I believe your suggestions, But why would I go through the work of kick panels in a car that i am only gonna be driving a few months? I just want to put something in the rear for now, until I get my own car and then i can make some kick panels for my next car. This is a temporary car so i need a temporary solution thats easy for now, and then can be set up the correct way when moved to my next car. Also I am ordering a 180 amp alternator on the 1st.
  4. I can't do kick panels because I can't modify the car at all. and It doesn't have to be a mid-bass driver. It just needs to cover the bass the xcon can't hit. up to about 100hz.
  5. and i'm not allowed to modify anything The front speaker holes are 4x6 and I could make a 5.25" fit if I really wanted but thats all that can go up front.
  6. it started dropping of in the lower area so it will only be hitting 150 and up with good efficiency.
  7. I was gonna add a 24db slope active crossover set at either 100hz or 120hz on the midbass.
  8. I was checking out that B&C it seems efficient and responsive, but its frequency curve drops really fast at 150hz which is the highest not it would ever be hitting. I need something more deep mid-bass oriented.
  9. well I was going with 8" because after a xcon being back there, there isn't much room left for anything else. i'm just curious but how would a bandpass help in this situation exactly??
  10. well there not going in the front there going in the rear next to the xcon in my wagon, in a simple square box.
  11. That second driver does look impressive. But will it be able to handle being cranked for long periods, and hit those drums and bass guitar notes with ease? remember my car can hit 142db when the xcon wasn't broke in with only a 100amp alternator. Now I have a bigger alternator on its way. I might get that second one, But I just want to make sure its what I want before I go spending the little money I do have. Also no one has said anything about that polk I found? I plan on crossing over this mid-bass/woofer to 60hz-100 or 120hz So it doesn't need to go that high. I want durability and output with decent accuracy.
  12. They don't seem bad, but i somehow forsee me ripping those paper cones. I like to push my speakers. I am also getting a electrical upgrade soon to handle all of this.
  13. What do you guys think of these?? Polk Audio MM840 Subwoofers - Car Subwoofers at Onlinecarstereo.com or this for a little more output http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_23076_Polk_Audio_MM1040DVC.aspx
  14. Also It can be a pair of mid-bass's or just one really good one. Because i have good mid-ranges i just need fill in that lower area.
  15. well I have a active and passive crossover. They can be in-between 100-200rms, Mounting depth isn't a issue just as long as it stays under 10". They can be either free=air or sealed, i prefer free-air but doesn't matter much, because they will be going into custom enclosures. but free-air makes it easier to transfer to different cars.
  16. I would like suggestions for some 8" mid-bass drivers that can easily keep up with my 15" xcon. I would prefer the cost to stay under $150. And to just let you know, I love mid-bass just as much as deep bass. I mean the mid-bass you can feel in your chest. From the 60-120hz range is what I need these to cover. Thanks
  17. ya, my enclosures i built for them sounded bad, but then i drilled two 1.5" holes in the back of the box and they have sounded great for 2 months like that.
  18. I do do reading more than you think. its just sometimes I can't find what i'm looking for. and I do half these things because i'm inpatient or bored not cuz i'm dumb, I do know I need new mid-bass's in the front and that I need a better amp and electrical and that the gain is not a volume knob, but I hate waiting I will turn it down more when I get my recone I just wish I had more money.
  19. I did mention that I hooked them up the normal way again, so they will be fine, they have lasted the 2.5 years that I have beaten them, so far.
  20. I turned the sub-sonic filter on at 30hz, and It is a very good speaker and i'm giving it roughly 250rms off of my hifonics since it is 8-ohm.
  21. If it where possible it would be funny, maybe if I had a 100 of them but unpractical. I'm just saying i was shocked but those 15" radioshack pa speakers for $85 are awesome for the money, i had one in storage and it pound hard on the 40hz and up notes, and it kinda hits the lower notes.
  22. well i found a 15" 150rms woofer, so thats in there now, the polks are hooked up normal again.
  23. Since my sub is out of service at the moment I bridged my 6x9's and turned the x-over off and I was amazed for them being 6x9's I knew they where loud but I could seriously feel air moving from them and they are 6-8ft behind me in the back of my wagon in some free-air enclosures. I just had to post this, ive had these for 2 years and ive never had them create a breeze, but ive also never tried giving them more power. now there getting a very clean 125rms each. they are 100rms each.
