Grounding to body instead of frame.
Better the shorter, no? Also would like some input on grounding to frame vs body search function didn't really help.

Can someone from DC Power Contact ME!!!!
- Grounding to body instead of frame.
Right now for my SAZ-3500Ds that are strapped i'm grounded to my frame but it's a pretty long wire and i don't want it that long. I cannot make the ground wire short and STILL ground to the frame, just can't. So this leaves me with grounding to the body, which i've only done with multi-channel amps.. no big mono blocks. I have (1) Yellow Top under the hood, (4) XS Power D3100s in the bed, (1) 320 amp Alternator from DC Power, Big 3 all inside a 1986 S-15 My concern is that grounding to the body will not be efficient enough for my SAZ-3500Ds. What is your input?- Part of Meca Southwest audiofest, Tucson, 11-13-10
Hell yah, this should be fun. You buying the "wings" after, D? Most likely hahah i'm bringin' my girl with me this time. Tomorrow finishing up my doors.. hopefully lol. I forgot to tell you this on the phone, Jason got a new phone for his birthday that just passed.- Part of Meca Southwest audiofest, Tucson, 11-13-10
Ohhhhhh boy, TEAM SSA in the hoouusseeee!- Help me pick out some tweeters
The drivers are likely 8ohm.....so a 125w @ 4ohm amp would only put about 60w to the horns at full tilt. Still way more than you'll need, but no reason not to use the amp otherwise. It will work fine. Just for reference, I had 50wpc @ 8ohm on my CD2's, the gain turned all the way down and still had to set the level on the processor to -12 (the lowest it would go without completely muting that channel) in order to keep the output in check......just to give you an idea of how little power you need to use with a true HLCD. Really at normal listening levels, you'll use less than 1w of power. At full balls to the wall....horns are capable of enough output to literally deafen you while still being within their rated thermal power handling (which is why I've never understood why HLCD haven't caught on with the SPL crowd, instead of those stupid bullet tweeters). That is intense that they have that much output on such little power! Don't you think it will be different though with my sub bass in the mix? It drowns out a lot, more then most would imagine. I completely forgot about the possibility of horns being 8ohms lol oops. So, i could use a Sundown 125.2 and still be okay, right?- Help me pick out some tweeters
You could find a used 100.2 But.. that would still be giving them 75 watts a piece, no? Any input on my response about keeping gain low on 125.2- Help me pick out some tweeters
What kind of power should I give them if not 75+? I'd like to run all Sundown amps if I could, how do you think it'd be with using the 2.125 and keep the gain low? Thanks for the information on the different models and why the v3 is better, would it be worth it to get the pros if not the V3s.. Is there a big step up in performance between the two? How do you like your CD2s? Also do you know some good cross over points for the CD1ev3? I know it varys instal to instal, but some starting points would be great- Help me pick out some tweeters
Nope, wrong again. Read the label, find the specs and determine the amount they limit the frequencies you are plopping into your ear. Basically they do jack. You are murdering your future to hear.- Help me pick out some tweeters
Yeah haha.. when looking at so many options, any of them start to look good lol Thanks for clearing that up for me, i'm looking into the HLCD mini CD1E right now. I read they take 75 watts, but i'm thinking about putting 125 watts to them. Do you think it'd be too much? I don't, but i don't know much about them. What kind of horns do you have?- Help me pick out some tweeters
Then you know nothing about the human hearing mechanisms. You will NOT have your hearing for so long. You'll be the 30 year old that says what everywhere. I drive around with the best ear plugs money can buy.. so I WILL have earing for a very long time. The bullet tweeters have caught on with the SPL crowd very strongly, most forums i went on to read up about my problem suggested them.. one guy had 48 Super Tweeter.. another had 18 bullet tweeters. I have been considering a set of HLCD ever since i bought my SMDs... but, mounting them under my dash has me thinking they won't sound good.. I'm lookin' around for installs with them now.- R.I.P SEAN TYLER DOBBS.....MY SON
Rest in peace Sean Tyler Dobbs. My family and I will pray for your son and your family. Stay strong my friend.- Help me pick out some tweeters
I decided i'm just going to stick with AA Carbons and some Seas tweeters I see fiberglass in the near future! Fuck everyone who doubts me haha Nice Signature by the way!!!! "baby amp" thats awesome.- Help me pick out some tweeters
Videos may be useless to you.. but not me. It may be "fricking gay" for you.. and i'm cool with that buddy Yes i "truly" drive around with 150db and i will have earing for a very long time. I am interested in "finding someone that will fill my needs". "mounting location, size, aiming, power, budget, what you've heard you've liked...." Mounting location, doors. Size, doesn't matter because i'll fab whatever i need to fab. I'd like to keep the max at 8" Power, whatever it takes.. because i'm looking for speakers that will work, not speakers that will work within a certain power range Budget, doesn't matter.. because i'm looking for speakers that will work, not speakers that will work within a certain budget.. then i'll compare prices and go from there. What i heard and like, my previous front stage that i talked about in my first post..- Help me pick out some tweeters
Honestly i couldn't tell you.. because i don't know the difference. I listen to rap all the time, if that helps. I just don't want my bass drowning out my highs.. i don't want you to get in my truck and say where is all the highs?- Help me pick out some tweeters
This sucks... but i understand better now. So my issue can be resolved with mids, not tweeters/horns, correct? Midbass is not an issue with my install, so high efficiency mids is what i need then. What are some Pro Audio mids that will help me reach my goal? I have never looked into them, ever. Links would be amazing. What kind of mids are you using? Do you have any videos? Also, back to the tweeters.. so for my highs then (because i have NO highs right now, sold them) i imagine the Super Tweeters will still be a good choice? (yes, i know some think they sound like shit) I need to buy some powerful highs that will mount on my dash.. Thanks, Dom.- Help me pick out some tweeters
This thread became more complicated then i expected. I never said i "only" just want to hear the words.. so i don't know why you quoted me on that. I don't know if you have ever sat in a 150+ daily for more then 15 minutes or owned a system that did 150+ daliy but once you have... its not easy to hear the words in the songs, and thats my goal! I don't just want speakers that will "only" play vocal, i want to hear the words in the songs that i play. A lot of people have the issues i have, and they go with super tweeters to fix that problem and they say it has worked. Do i know that for a fact? No, because i haven't heard their install to rightfully say I KNOW it will work. I was looking into bullet tweeters because someone brought them up in post #12. After talking to Jay-Cee for a few minutes, i'm leaning towards the Selenium ST200 Super Tweeter. Sir-Lancelot, with the Super Tweeters you've experienced with.. do you think they would help me hear the words better?- Welcome to the IHoP
- Help me pick out some tweeters
Those ST350's sound pretty good, but you have to cross them over pretty high. Lots of people seem to like the NX-5. I would say horns too, but they are a bitch to mount and tune. I really don't think image and staging is what you are after, just loud and clear. Am I right or no? I just want to hear the words in my songs! I got 150db daily and it makes it hard. Yes, i just want loud and clear.. not after image and staging. Can't mount them where i want them though- Help me pick out some tweeters
Opinions on.. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_21621_Cadence_CVLT-60.aspx http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_24925_Power_Acoustik_NX-5.aspx http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-362 If i were to go with the bullet tweeters i'd get (2) of them. If i was going with super tweeters i'd get (4) or (6).- Help me pick out some tweeters
I am deaf.. but i can still feel the bass, which is nice. I'm going to look into horns and bullet tweeters, anyone have any links? - Grounding to body instead of frame.
