  1. I'll just poast pics, no order what-so-ever Should I post one per day ?
  2. Then buy it frozen and defrost yourself. Little olive oil, little butter, real hot pan (wait until hot to add the fat), drop well seasoned (salt & pepper) Tuna count to 30 flip and count to 30 again. Remove. If any of the sides are still pink feel free to roll them in the pan. Also great with a sesame seed crust. A side of sashimi soy, or soy diluted with olive oil both with a couple drops of sesame oil make a great dip. Wasabi is nice as well. Goes great with Concannon potatoes, a fresh slaw (I usually dress mine like the asians do), or soft greens like bok choy, collards/chard/spinash, etc. Perfect, cooking tuna is going to be my next culinary experiment
  3. I suspect high carb intake is what is slowing down my fight with the gut.
  4. Which brings me back to the tuna question... Since I don't know for sure how fresh is fresh tuna at my local market, let's assume it's frozen and defrosted. Cooking ideas ?
  5. I just worked out my total carb intake and it's around 150gr / day if my estimates on bread and pastry amount are good. Thats counting a big apple and a banana. I figure I can drop it to 100gr / day by cutting out pastry products and replacing them with meat + veggies.
  6. Along with bottoming out suspension because of lack of uptravel. Fun times !
  7. Starting to soak all the bolts from the rear suspension in penetrating oil. Time to get the leafs off and re-arch them, they are sagged almost 2"
  8. He also isn't in the US.... Also have to factor in the cost of living differences. It's the age old argument: "OMG they only pay their workers 5 dollars a day US? That's slave labor!" "Their cost of living is 1/10 of the average American so no, not really." Honestly, I don't know if there is such a big difference. I couldn't feel a huge difference in prices in the UK food markets compared to here. And we pay more for gas than you guys do. Insurance and taxes are lower on the other hand.
  9. Is that gross or net? Either way, damn you work cheap. Net. Yah, compared to what an engineer makes in the US it's tiny
  10. If anyone needs a Rockauto discount code, I just got this by email: EUROM112 (expires 01/01/13)
  11. The greediest
  12. Don't you guys imagine it's a ton of money, my target amount is $1000 / month...
  13. w00tah !
  14. I'm not in your situation but why such a steep increase? 1. The state taxes all income with 16%, except software developers. But a huge part of the company income has to be software. Since software development in Emerson is only a small slice of the operations, we don't get that tax deduction. 2. When I got hired I turned down National Instruments and that was 50% more than what I took at Emerson, because they were on the other side of town. 3. Being a big company, wages of "foot soldiers" aren't what they should be in the software field. If you get into the management side of things wages are high but I'm a long way away from a management position and why should I stay for years with less when there are options? 4. Most of the people who left since I joined left for 50-100% more pay I was asked for a target amount. We have a saying here: you're not a fool for asking, you're a fool for giving. So if I get turned down, meh, I still have a job and there are other options.
  15. I sure hope the company which interviewed me calls me for a second interview. I might have scared them with my demand but I sure as hell won't move for less than 50% more pay.
  16. That would be hoot. I am not good at frightening people. Well..... at least not in the way your customers want to be frightened. We learned something this year, people enjoy being startled much more than frightened. I think what happens is when you frighten some one they shut down and hide their eyes and don't see anything after that. When they are startled, their senses are heightened and looking at everything and wanting more, which makes their haunt experience much more entertaining for them. Matt you would fit right in and have a blast! Adrenalin rush FTW !
  17. How fresh? It should really be basically raw in the middle nonmatter what I haven't tried the poke test since there wasn't any tuna in stock when I checked.
  18. Let's say it's 300A @ 13v from the alt, that means 3900w. Let's round it off to 4000w and I think that means the alt needs will need to be turned by at least a 4kw motor. 4kw at a 110v plug = 36A draw. Do you typically have 40A 110v plugs in the US ? I'm assuming 100% efficiency and some rounding. And if the alt consumes less power than it produces, then I'm backing down. You can't make power out of nothing. You are forgetting about the gearing ratio. The motor doesn't have to spin at the same speed at the alternator. If my eyes are still ok, those pulleys look identically size. Any arguments in favor of the setup or against my math ? If we get into the generator discussion my home generator is a measly 3kw one and uses a 6.5hp engine to run it. So it's a different situation than you 54kw generator. 54kw = 72.4 hp. I'm curious what you used to get 868 hp. Now, for some other info on power required to drive an alternator: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r24644940-how-much-horse-power-is-needed-to-power-a-alternator- Honestly, you can't make energy out of nothing. An alternator cannot be driven by less power than it produces, otherwise we would all drive for free.
  19. I'll have to pass planking, as I want to cook it in-door and don't have a gas grill
  20. Simple enough: you post something, you get an answer or a comment. Whether you like it or not, you get it.
  21. Sean, can you please throw out some ideas on cooking tuna ? I can get "fresh" tuna in slices if that matters for preparation. Various pots and pans available, non-thermostatic oven, would prefer quick recipe
  22. Reap what you sew ?

  24. That's awesome! ya when they called and complained about dishes rattling it just made me smile I'll just have to be even more respectful but in the past I never crank it close to houses and latest in past has never been after 8. Just put my new alt and new amp in so I just wanted to check if it was wired right. I've got nowhere to test and tune for SPL, except in my garage. So whenever I know I need to test, I let my neighbors know. Thankfully it's not an often thing and doesn't last more than a few hrs. I've had people telling me they got scared when they passed next to my garage.
  25. That much of a raise and you can drive to work! Short distance, busy city and lots of buses, probably not worth going by car. I'll see what I can pull Wednesday
