  1. Somebody local wanted to install lcd's in the headlights. He stocked about a dozen digicam LCD's...
  2. And if you're in a survival situation and your backpack catches fire, all the better
  3. You want bright, huh ? These are 6 measly LED's
  4. Happy birthday ! ! !
  5. Happy Birthday Matt ! ! ! !
  6. And it's not going to be too nice for on-road use:
  7. Went out and compared the LED light with my headlights, same camera settings, I was stupid and didn't check the focus, sorry for fuzzy pics. LED above the headlight: Low-beam, engine on High-beam, engine on A bit more range on the low-beam than the LED. It was 20w of LED (6 led's) vs 110 / 120w of Halogen, with double or triple the amount of LED's things will be different. Happy so far, time for a case. 8 degree dispersion lenses, it will need some 60 degree ones on the sides and 8 degree in the center but that's something which can be tweaked very easily
  8. Obviously I'm not going to say how I can open XJ's
  9. That's funny. You have to elaborate, am I wrong about the purpose of the flimsy metal plate used around some of the locks? (to be fair it wouldn't prevent shit but it would make it a little more frustrating) If a plate prevents them from getting at the lock, they'll get at the mechanism, the rod, or simply put a coat hanger through the door and depress the unlock button. Or they find other ways. I can get in the Jeep fairly easy and I don't have to force anything
  10. In about 4that hours that will be true. Have fun guys ! I got to hear from the VP they celebrate Halloween in the US and I'm envious If you ever get my way let me know and I will show you how we celebrate halloween. Hopefully soon

  12. A lot of people wonder how I do driving the Jeep around town, since it seems big to them. They never saw a 1 ton I'd much rather drive a 1ton than a Jeep, mainly because I hate Jeeps. Well, with all the documentation I have, I can say they are easy to get parts for and easy to fix. I love Jeeps And today I received my engine parts catalog, straight from the manufacturer, since these are not Jeep engines. One more plus.
  13. Those look great

  15. 0.2. And another 0.2 from ditching the sub gasket and using tape. I'm still not done with tuning and having a 10" port means it's rather close to the bottom of the box, which certainly doesn't help the score. Only gained 0.4 by moving from 8" to 10" port. Another 0.2 from resining the inside of the box. It was actually weird, since with a warm engine the alternator didn't seem to charge as well and I was consistently 0.2 below the first score of the day. I forgot what's the goal? 147+? 147.5+ is the goal. First burp today was 146.95, after the engine warmed up it dropped 0.2. Ripped out the duct tape to work inside the box, dropped to 146.5. Then we gently braced the windshield and got 147.0. With tape and a cold engine it's going to be a 147.5 for sure. 2 weeks from now we will find out. The good thing is I've never seen anyone so happy with the work I've done
  16. 6" opening only

  18. Duct tape is loud: Getting closer to finishing the work bench, now with 2.2mm thick steel (close to 0.1" thick)
  19. And a big hell yeah for the new power supply. The biggest hurdle is behind me This whole LED light shebang is a GO.
  20. If a 40 by 2 inch flat bar can dissipate 4-500w it's perfect. That is a good sized bar. I bet it can. I will probably go for a decent thickness U-profile, so I will only need a piece of plexi / lexan to seal it up. If the 6 LED versions stays under 100*F in testing, I don't think there is need for a finned radiator.
  21. Top and out since I'm at work.

  23. Really, really expensive. What are you looking for? It might be cheaper than you expect. I found a place which does custom aluminum profiles, will have to send them a drawing to get a quote. I need a special case / radiator for my light project. Sort of like an amp case, so I can bolt on some lexan where the cover would go on an amp and the LED's will be bolted to the opposite side. Should be small, 2-2.5 in wide and as long as needed. I found simple narrow radiators but they don't help with the lexan mounting, which basically builds a water/dust-proof case. This is the inspiration: If it all goes well and there is a market for lights locally, I will probable need a good amount of radiators.
  24. And I might have to look for somebody who extrudes aluminum, seems like my only option for a case/radiator combo without CNC'ing one (which costs a ridiculous amount)
  25. Time to work on teh new LED power supply. 4 parts and it should have enough juice for 50 LED's
