  1. Secsi time !
  2. For starters I would cross the eminence off the list. Not a big fan of pro-audio stuff. Easier to fit a 3-4 inch mid in kicks. As far as midbass goes, if you have the room, you could very well step up to the SLS 8. The Nomex isn't a slouch either. For tweeters you could also look at the LPG offerings. I listened to the softdome LPG in a 3-way setup and it sounded very nice. I also used the Seas softdome in a 2-way setup and it is also a nice tweeter. Do you have a specific budget ?
  3. That nail looks very painful Tom
  4. I may have netted a pair of kickpanels for $25. Let's see if the seller holds his part of the deal and ships them
  5. It is NOT acoustically dead. Tap on your box once and listen to it resonate and realize how ridiculous a statement that was. To the OP however, it really depends on your goals. There are plenty of useful absorbers that can be used in a box but without understanding your reasoning or knowing what exactly your box is it is dubious to even answer. If I could guess by assuming your goals I'd say you don't need it. Hmm. I Was Under The Impression That It Was The Deadest Material For That Purpose. Lead comes to mind as some of the deadest materials available. MDF isn't extremely dead but I bet a lead box wouldn't be too much fun
  6. Check zaph's measurements. I'm not sure the usher can extend that high but I could be wrong
  7. The baffles are attached to the flowerpots with duct tape and everything is held in position with shoelaces and duct tape
  8. Freaking flowerpots I have some resonances because of them and it scared me to death thinking I damaged a mid.
  9. Fire everything to the front and seal off the trunk. Bye-bye trunk rattles.
  10. Listened to the sls 10's today. Awesome awesome speakers. Also fooled a few people that I had my tweeters connected when only the ff85k's were playing. The mids are rocking !
  11. Got 2nd place at the competition today Lost to 2 15 L7's on a ZX2500.1, by 0.8dB on music. Pretty pleased overall but I think it's time to retire the xxx from competing. Burped 145.4dB wired on my 3000w hifonics and I did all I can think of during testing. I have no idea if I'm doing something wrong or the woofer isn't up to the job. 2 of the 3 cars in our team
  12. The { } brackets aren't needed since they hold a single instruction.
  13. top, yay !
  14. *ur
  15. Is that a top mount filter like the BM'ers use? I love those. top-mount FTW !
  16. I still haven't found a pair of kickpanels local so I can chop them up and start fiberglassing There is a pair on ebay so I might sau eff it and buy off ebay.
  17. Progress so far with the mids : Just threw them on as much on-axis as possible. Drivers side was modified since the picture so that it doesn't interfere with the clutch pedal at all. So far tonality is excellent. The stage is wide but still a lot more to tune to raise it and improve focus. Spent ~30 minutes listening and tuning
  18. They look mint
  19. ugh, dee dee.....
  20. I'm not a big fan of tuning with the rta. In the end, you will listen with your ears, not your eyes or a microphone. Play around with al the equalizer bands untill you like the sound. This should be done, IMO, after figuring out the right crossover points.
  21. If it can be done in a Mustang with over 1200 and a 25-year-old chassis design, I'm pretty sure the Porsche can handle it. Besides, it's really the torque you have to worry about. The guys at 9ff have been modifying Porsches heavily. They don't work only on the engine
  22. Yes, it can make the amp clip earlier.
  23. Got the new burp box for the xxx in. Peaking 1-2hz higher and 0.2db lower, only have one battery compared to two and it isn't competely airtight.
  24. Bleh, bottomed out the rli today. Twice Didn't pay attention and all of the sudden, coil hits the backplate. Fuck.
  25. It will definately be a different setup to see
