  1. Moved from FI since it has nothing do to with any FI products.
  2. Welcome from Romania !
  3. I've seen a 5 minute epoxy recommended for recones over CA glue.
  4. I hope the customers that want to come for installs / door deadening after finals don't fluke out. *fingers crossed*
  5. Hmmm, found a Soundstream ref 500 for $50. Not sure if it works but I'm thinking about picking it up since it's local.
  6. I figured as much. Why is that manufactures only make products for dummies? nick19 and sqjeep I see a problem with running two crossovers. I'd be willing to bet that it will effect phase. I'd be more worried on the phase effect on a front stage amp. And before that I'd be more concerned of the actual install part. You can't measure the phase difference if you don't have a 2 channel o-scope. You need to see both signals (input and output before the x-over stage) to determine the phase difference.
  7. Adrian_D posted a topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
    error.
  8. Holy big font batman That dash and the doors look more like the ones from a Grand Cherokee instead of the Cherokee.
  9. To me it seems like a major pain in the behind and I've worked on some pretty ugly stuff.
  10. What did you have in mind? and who is that in your avatar? A JBL BPX2200.1 The girl is Stacy Dash. Beast of an amp !
  11. Not the only place where people are getting hungry...
  12. How much power are you wanting. Personally anything under 1k I'd go for a plate amp, anything more a good rack amp is the way to go (QSC or Crown). Dayton has a nice 1kw rack amp. They are around the $300 mark.
  13. that indeed is a very efficient way to brace without taking up space !! Easy fix for that. Cut a hold bigger than the diameter of the nut and on the inside of the box attach a small piece of mdf over the hole. The piece of mdf is screwed to the panel you want to brace and it also holds the threaded rod. Nothing sticks out but you loose a tiny bit of airspace. Less than an mdf cross-brace. A 2x4 takes up quite some space...
  14. IMO it is a nice amplifier. Sounds like a good plan to use it like that. Just make sure you match the gain right so each sub receives the same amount of power
  15. how many batteries would be sufficient for a daily driver, i assume by saying bank it would be more than 3 batteries. 3 group 31's should be good Check what Jacob has done in the Jeep. He charges the batteries used for audio with a step up 'transformer'.
  16. does a 3000Watt amp only put out 1500Watts on average while playing music?? Totally music dependent. It could output an average of 200w or even 2000w, peaks will be higher.
  17. This is what i was actually trying to figure out.. i'm not that versed on amplifier design.. where exactly is the rail (voltage) inside an amp? and does the speaker see the rail voltage or a fraction of it? so am i wrong here, or is it possible for the amp to do it's 3300Wrms rating on a 200A fuse.. 1. What are you exactly trying to figure out ? The current I mentioned isn't the input current, it's the current that has to be produced at the output. For instance, to produce 3600w at 1 ohm you need 60v and 60A at the output. The power supply will have to 'produce' more current as the impedance decreases and the voltage rail drops because of this. This is why you get more heat when wiring lower. The speaker will see a procentage of the rail voltage. The rail voltage is the voltage output from the amp power supply and it 'feeds' the actual amplifier stage. 2. I already explained that judging power by the fuse rating will get you nowhere fast. You don't know the exact efficiency. You don't know how much over-current that fuse will take and for how long. Stop obsessing over the fuse rating. The only way you will know the output for sure is if you measure the amplifier with a clamp meter. I hope I'll have some time this summer to clear up the fuse and show how much current a typical fuse can take before blowing. I measured close to 2000w with an 80A fuse on the input when testing out an amplifier and the input voltage was around 12v. You do the math.
  18. 3 days and it's over.
  19. only problem is the marine fog has been sitting on the coast for over a week now. i'm a spoiled california boy who doesn't know what to do with himself if it's not at least 75 degrees and sunny outside. ...... yeah, i know i have problems... Heck, I wouldn't mind bad weather too much. It's just that this semester has been an uphill battle. Lots of projects, tests, homeworks and they finally got to me The homework I tried to do today filled the cup. Couldn't for the life of me even modify someone's homework. Still got 2 lab exams and 1 test untill finals actually start. Everybody I spoke to that passed this semester said that finals were like a vacation compared to the rest of the semester.
  20. Ryan2, how much power are you running to the FF85k's ? Any special baffle work, like chamfering ?
  21. The Helix version of the MAW (helix precision) is a very nice sounding subwoofer. I suspect they are almost the same thing. Can't remember the MAW specs to compare to the helix.
  22. <- envious on the people who are on vacation
  23. Blast it with dry ice. Google / youtube dry ice cleaning.
  24. For an amplifier which is stable at one ohm there shouldn't be any problems with running it at that impedance. Using it at 2 or 4 ohms makes it easier a bit. Less chance of overheating. If the output is enough for you with 650w, I don't see any reason to give it more power
