  1. Last time I saw pictures of that it only had 2 blowers ? Interesting nonetheless
  2. Also... an "SQ" system has a helluva a lot more to do with the front stage, processing and deadening than the sub. I have to agree with that ! Last thing I would worry about in an sq system is the subwoofer. A crapload more work goes into the front stage..
  3. Are you listening to the system or is the RTA microphone listening to the system all day long ? If you don't have houndreds of eq bands your ears are going to be a better tool in setting up your sound system. Since you will be the one that will listen and it needs to sound good to your ears...
  4. Diffrent animals. Here is how the Massive looks on the inside : Not bad amps IMO. ZX2500.1
  5. The mosfets are actually the parts that get hot
  6. You've still got what it takes for some guerilla posting
  7. Holy crap ! Get a couple more alts
  8. The smell could be caused by clipping the amp. Setting it with the DMM isn't the most accurate method, especially if you don't have a good reference for power measurements (more precisely voltage, since that's what you are measuring). If someone has the same setup it's easy but same amp, diffrent subs / box, the output voltage is going to be diffrent (impedance function). Just listen for signs of stress and watch for smelly coils. If it stinks a lot then you surely have too much power going to the subs. Nice looking box. I hope the panel you mounted the amp to is braced. I've been being careful, the subs don't distort at all as far as i can tell, and they will only begin to smell now if i play it full blast for more than a couple songs. and yes, the panel i mounted the amp to is braced Seems you're out of trouble if the panel is braced and the woofers don't get smelly fast. Congrats on the score
  9. Soldering all your life and fixing amps for a living are 2 diffrent things. Mosfets blow for a reason. When it's not excess heat it's some part in the control / drive section. I can't even tell you how many times on went on wild goose chases replacing semiconductors only to have them fail again 20-30 minutes later back in the day before I really understood this stuff... Especially with Class D...... I hear you on that one. Almost missed a comp because of that. Spent a day and a night trying to get my amp back into working shape and ended up borrowing a good amp Been there done that. In simple terms, excess heat causes a mosfet to act like a wire (shortcircuit) and it causes it to blow. Viper 2500.1 at one ohm. Hot day, played music for 40 minutes, thermal protection was out for lunch. Amp was still hot 20 minutes after it blew. Blew the power supply mosfets and 2 power supply drivers.
  10. I've read about the w505 used with the H900..so I guess it could work..
  11. I want to compete ! My ultimate dream is to get to the European finals

  13. Tomatoes are one of the reason I hate winter. Good tomatoes are the ones which grow outside. The ones from greenhouses are tasteless. At least that's the way it goes here. it's the exact same here but it's hard to find good tomatoes. I love tomatoes but refuse to eat just about any that don't come from a garden. There still are plenty of people that grow tomatoes in their own garden over here. I hope it will stay like it for as long as possible. European legislation is trying to keep people away from "unhygienic" foods. Planning to get a small fence up in the back yard and grow a few tomatoes in my back yard The fence is to try and keep the dog from destroying the tomatoes

  15. Almost bought some stuff from digikey. I was impressed with how quickly they replied to my questions about shipping. I've seen mouser beeing recomemded by someone who used to repair amps. Small capacitors shouldn't be too expensive, give mouser a try [offtopic] What amp is that in your avatar ? US Acoustics ? [/offtopic] Thanks for the info. Yes it is a USAcoustics, Specifically a USA-2300f. [offtopic also] Me = Jealous [/offtopic] To make you even more jealous I have a 2200f also. Anyways thanks for all the replies. I ordered the parts from digikey last night and already got the confirmation email this mourning that they received and it was shipped. I have a couple other things that I might need for other projects so I may try some of the others listed, again thanks for the replies. They're both chromed right ? [/offtopic] Good thing your question popped up. Now I know where to search for caps too. Local places don't stock what I need.
  16. you could make an aeroponic system and grow tomatoes inside! mmm, tomatoes
  17. And you were hesitant about going active in the first place
