  1. Had an install to do yesterday. Everything went smooth except setting the gains. With the o-scope. Told the owner to hit play, started raising the gain and fiddled a couple seconds with it at full volume and all of the sudden one midbass starts to buzz 80w worth of amplifier, 100w rated component set and one of the coils rubs. Sweet. Anyone ever had that happen ? Blow something while setting the gains ? It really effed the whole day. Worked from 8am to 9pm on the fricking car only to damage something while trying to do things the right way.
  2. Get to it. Learn by doing it. No sheetmetal around the house = grill gets delyaed even more
  3. and a 80.1 holy sh!t love to see amp guts on that. Look for the AB700.1. That is a step up from the 500.1 (=40.1) I'm curious to see the warden too. Possibly lighter sub for spl is something I'd like

Awesome first post ! Love the car
  5. I'm with Jim. Quite a step up from the W7, as far as sound goes, from my experience (only heard the 13inch versions). Also, the PDX5 is a nice option.
  6. I'd use half the surface of the subs for port area. So for 2 10's, use as much port area as the cone area of 1 10. IMO it doesn't matter if the sub is in 0.5cf or in 20cf, it's still going to have the same excursion potential (diffrent power levels for the 2 examples) so it will need the same cone area to prevent port noise.
  7. There's another misconception. Suspension has to be stiff.
  8. Why did you have to waste forum space with such a worthless post ?
  9. Use the most distant ones. In the event a strand of wire is left out there's a smaller risk of shorting out the output.
  10. Thanks guys ! I still need to get off my ass and finish the grill.
  11. For your subs you will need a certain port area. Find that and you can use almost any width / height combinations, with some common sense.
  12. You need to tell us more : What are your goals ? You want to get loud or sound decent ? (please don't use SQ or SPL or LSQ) How many subs do you want to install ?
  13. NSB's have been highly appreciated, especially the 90 and the 120. Same goes for Cactus. IMO Kinetic HC2000 = weaksauce. The 2400 can't hold up to start a small diesel. I don't trust it for a demanding application. "Designed for car audio applications"...go go go marketing department.
  14. As a member of a branch of the masonry, I, along with other members have voted to capture Cheesemind and punish him because of the unveiling of the plans hidden by Lupe's albums. These things have been planned for a long time, look at the 1dollar bill for instance. We have made numerous efforts to draw attention from our actions (9/11, the bombing of the Pentagon...you only think it was a plane, the whole oil "crysis"), but people like you and the other conspiracy theorists are making it harder and harder. Cheesemind, please spare us the effort of finding you. Post the quieckest way we can reach you and maybe you will suffer less. Why do you think most of the conspiracy theorists can't support their theories for a long time ?
  15. What about covering the surface with big pieces of deadener vs small pieces ? To the OP : Get the W6
  16. Sweetness
  17. The need for line drivers maybe ?
