I think the "grounds" all connect to the "-" of the amplifier. As far as high-pass for the mids, I don't think it's mandatory, but I may be wrong.

Thanks for the ideas but unfortunately the whole deal is on a hold right now. An "installer" kept telling my friend that he's going to measure the interior of the car and check the reflections, all to help his score, but it seems to me like there's a hint of bs...
