so clay at all the contact points what got me confused is that when i tighten the ring won't the clay come out ? that's going to depend on what material the guy at the shop has. it will be easier to secure the ring / rings to the panel with some countersunk bolts and then tap the mounting holes for the driver

explain a bit more to the n00bx : should i place the clay between the ring and metal ? or just around the ring ? really confizzled

how about some deadening material between the ring and sheet metal ?

how about using deadener between the ring and sheet metal ? forgot to mention : i don't know if i can get the thickness i want, so i could be using 2 rings modelling clay just like the kind kids play with ?

any cons to using aluminum rings instead of mdf ? aside from the screw trouble

had to trim some metal to fit the mli. i was in shock when dad told me he could get some rings machined out of aluminum instead of the "classical" mdf
