Nick can help with a turbo swap that could give you some serious forward thrust. i've seen pictures of a tdi golf with a transporter turbo (2.5 L tdi) which, along with other goodies pushed it from 130hp to ~220hp.

5 speed tdi's are great, once you replace the chitty dual mass flywheel with a single mass one i never thought the dub could idle THAT smooth.
