werd i have a 120amp as well pretty big fuses in the fuse box on the battery : 150a, 110a, 50a, 40a and 30a. can;t remember how many of each. i looked while dad was working on the oil pan. stooped german engineering : they tapped the cast aluminium oil pan and use a steel screw. that way, when you change the oil you can bust the oil pan thread and have to retap it. just went through that. pretty nasty when you don;t lift the car on an elevator. and don't have all the tools a service has,

Pretty good , mine can only be rewound to like 120amp . Gonna have to shell out $300 + for anything bigger i remember the mk3 only had a 90amp alt. just the car i'd like as a first car.

but it wouldn't be too smart for me to try my hands on doing the first install. first install is going to be in a friend's car.

a guy who used to drive a milk tanker went into town with a few friends to get some alcoohol in the system. he got a bit too much. on the way home he notices the local "sherif" was driving behind him. knowing that the police officer was trying to give him a bad day, he took the tanker off the road, into a field and got stuck. the officer asked him what he was doing. the driver told him he was cleaning the pistons. the officer called someone to tow him out, but the drunk driver refused. eventually he managed to destroy the engine, and 3 out of 6 pistons were melted in the block. i guess he did a pretty good job cleaning them...
