  1. Speaking of this sale engineer stuff, I'd love a job in a more mechanical oriented field. I really need to get off my ass and build the damn VNT controller it would be an awesome strong point on the resume. Maybe I can get lucky and use it as a Master's thesis
  2. Hmph, the lava was still flowing, pissing operation was a failure
  3. Have you ever read "what every body is saying?" It's about body language. Pretty good book, definitely inline with your work. I have not. The tough part about body language is that sometimes someone crossing their arms and leaning away just has a cold. But I do use the basics just because law of averages works in favor for me if I take it into consideration. I never could trust the crossed arms idea, especially if the conversation flows naturally. Also I have a habit of crossing my arms even if my actual intentions are not to be closed but open.
  4. Congrats
  5. AAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND I'm spooked on an A3 for another year. Thank you.I think it would be fun working on cars like that.Sure, for those of us with the time, space, money, tools, equipment, skills and spare car. I mean from a service point. It would help me understand why they do some of the crazy shit they do. Not sure if I would ever own something like that. I really love all that something like an A3 or RS6 have specs wise; manual/AWD/good power with huge potential/wagen/great handling/aftermarket parts etc. etc., but the cost to maintain, insure and in general own, is just out of the realm of what I am comfortable opening my wallet up to. So few wagens available with similar features. Pretty much leaves it to a Speed3/STI/A3/328i. C-class wagen is gone and was never offered in manual, E55AMG is $$$ and not manual and so on.You know, for years i've been trying to figure out why the Speed3/Focus/C30 has not received AWD. They've done it in EU (Focus) without adding cost, so why can't they do it here? What ? AWD Focus in Europe? I'll have to check but I don't think there is an AWD Focus I thought the RS was AWD? RS WRC is AWD but that is their rally car. Civilian RS's are FWD, with a Quaife LSD.
  6. I'd consider this as a joy ride: It's Quattro and with a 20v turbo it should sound awesome and move awesome
  7. If it's all open diffs, you CAN get to where only one wheel gets all the torque. But I don't know any respectable AWD's without at least a form or front/rear torque distribution.

Why not an RS2? Old but should be tons of fun with the 20v turbo
  10. Backhoe windscreen removal was a success. I got some special wire from somebody and mixed with knife action and some help from rust, I got it out in ~2 hours.
  11. Offer him $32After I get my check I plan to. No electronic shit. Just fire and sex. Is the 996 that vanilla ?
  12. An E30 was the contender to the Miata as a joyride. I'd have to have the M40 engine in the E30. Interesting thing is it can be stroked with OEM parts IIRC, so it's an advantage over the Miata's 1.8. E30 convertibles look like boats though. And the country is full of sedans and coupes.
  13. Knocked down 3 hours on the backhoe. Got another 5 at this job, which is digging an inspection ditch in a bus garage. And if everything pans out right I should have a total of 4 or 5 ditches to dig. Easy money
  14. When it rains, it pours.
  15. Damn I wish I could build a house for 15k. I've seen some homes built in the Philippines that would cost 500k here built there for a little of nothing. Don't imagine a huge honkin pallace, it's probably around 1000 sq ft on the ground. So around 2000 sq ft total livable surface is in plan.
  16. Fuck'em. Either too tall for how short they are (SWB version) or way too long wheelbase and they get hung up on obstacles (LWB version). Marginally stronger front axle than what Jeeps have. Divorced transfer case. My Jeep with Addco swaybars flexes as much a G-Wagen. Heavy as a pig. Radius arm suspension which although strong and simple is not a good geometry. The good: reliable powerplants and transmissions, front and rear difflock out of the factory on some models. I can't say their engines are bulletproof though
  17. Backhoe sale will finance the house rebuild. From the ground up, same ground surface, different layout, floor + livable attic.
  18. There are 2 backhoes of the same model as mine for sale locally and they are over $20k. Less hours and better condition. Looks like $15k is within reach
  19. Going to get a windscreen for the backhoe on Thursday in hopes of a better sale price. It's cheap but I have to uninstall it. It's the glued on kind. I was thinking either some sharp knives or wire to take it off. And plenty of patience.
  20. I sort of want to go back to programming under Linux. Much nicer tools and features in C compared to what Windows offers.
  21. Wait until you have to find a girlfriend for your girlfriend. Pshaw, finding a normal girlfriend is difficult enough, finding one for another woman is probably insanity.
  22. Ah yes, seriously bitten by the autocross bug
  23. Small, light remote, feels very solid, I'm surprised it's chinese stuff.
  24. I finally have keyless entry in the Jeep. The car originally had IR keyless entry but I did not get the remote, it also had an aftermarket alarm, so the wires for locking / unlocking the doors were within reach. And a couple of weeks ago I found RF 4 channel remote / receiver combos, bought one and installed it today. It's so nice to have keyless entry
  25. Can't you just grab a lawn mower and rip the engine offk I have 2 in my yard right now. I still have my old cylinder, albeit a bit ovalized. New piston and rings and it's good to go for another year.
