Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Quentin how do you wrap A-pillars to have the base for fiberglass? Seems like I always end up with extra material on one side and have to make a flap.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Replaced the front bearings on an E39 today. And then started gutting the interior on the Jeep to run wires for the Mmats. Ended up doing some mods to the seat base so I can still adjust the seat and have the amp under the seat. Then I got basically to lifting the carpet enough to have access to where all the wires cross from one side to the other. I'm pretty beat.

A bit on the small side if you want on-axis, IMO.

Me too, since I've never had the time to cut out new rings and test them in place of the FF85k's

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
The trip to work yesterday morning was incredible, almost zero traffic with the national holiday.

3" Faital a-pillars are ready for wrapping and fiberglass. It's pretty easy to do such stuff with another pair of hands to help.

MK, an S2000 is 3-4 times the price of a first gen Miata. Over 9000 rpm...over 9000 euros...

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Until few weeks ago I was planning on getting a bike frame, found a Dekerf for ~$700 (they sell new for $2k), all Reynolds 853 but decided it's money best kept for the Miata purchase.

Today being a religious holiday I'm going to sit around on my ass and relax.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
And I'm going to install a pair of Faital 3fe20's in the A-pillars of a Civic (half of project stupid) tomorrow.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
A few days of not needing the car are in sight and I can finally install the Mmmats. I have to take out both front seats and center console, run power wire from under the backseat to under the driver's seat, RCA's, speaker wire and remote wire from one side to the other (under the carpet, oh joy) and fix a broken nut for the seat base.

Also reduced some errors in the project 10 fold today, pretty productive day so far.

Holiday today, everybody was free, I decided to work today and have tomorrow free. Ah, the perks of a small software company. I can move around holidays almost whenever the heck I want.
- Happy Birsday Neal!!!

No chance. First gen Miata with the 1.8 is under $3k. Which is exactly my budget.

Bitch car! You'll have the chance to tell me I drive a bitch car pretty soon The track prepped Miata's that are torching me in autocross, I wouldn't dare call them bitch cars. Serious suspension + great rubber + small turbo = killer track car. First two are simple and pretty cheap. Even as a fun toy to own it should be a kicker. My other second car option is a Mercedes W210, with a 2.0 N/A diesel. Hmmm, I wonder which one is better as a fun car...

W123's and W124's with 500k are running all over Frankfurt the last time I was there. They drive the living snot out of those cars daily and they hold. My W124 was quite good, my sister's W124 is still going strong. W124 is pretty much the last good Merc sedan IMO. W211 is still pretty good.

Having owned and helped fix European cars I tend to agree. Changing the headlight bulbs requires taking off the wheel or the bumper or taking apart half the front end...pretty stupid if you ask me.. Although I feel that over-engineering and no consideration on how it's going to get disassembled are problems found on higher end models. Low-end stuff is where simplicity is key and for instance taking off interior pieces of a european econo-box is as simple as taking them off in the Jeep. Funny thing is pre-V8 BMW's were the opposite, by far the most logically laid out and easy to work on vehicles I'd ever owned. The E36 convertible seemed pretty easy but panel fit sucked because everything was wrapped in vinyl.

Better as an autocross car. I don't know how much grunt you can extract from one of those, but hill climbing favors power doesn't it? Power to weight in the end, I think. It's still going to be fun 200+ to the rear wheels is possible to power adders. 130 hp at the crank bone-stock. And there are reports of 170 at the crank, N/A Hillclimb gaining momentum now, who knows if in 2 years we won't see lots of events similar to autocross here. There have already been 2 this year. 2-3 last year. Hungaroring is closer to me than Bucharest. So there are options.

Bitch car or not, amateur hillclimb competitions are starting to gain momentum here and it's a good car for such purposes.

Miata...I want a fucking Miata. Next summer....driving with the top down.- Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Maybe it's the RWD. AWD, kills some of the fun but makes snow much easier I prefer RWD in the snow. Just not in a truck I'm thankful to have 4wd, otherwise I would be stuck getting out of the driveway. - Welcome to the IHoP v.2
