  1. Finished up the rear brake conversion today and managed to strip the bleeder port on one caliper. After much fumbbling around i decided to block the brake line and look for a caliper . Found it 5 minutes from home for $15, i nearly kicked myself for not looking right after i fuxored the port. Oh well, at least i have a good handbrake now.
  2. Vacation time tomorrow ! Going to see the GF in Portugal and we'll be spending a few days in Barcelona too. Sunshine, beach and boobies !
  3. Good luck ! I'm starting the new gig July 1st. Been talking to dad about selling the backhoe and spending the dime on a dream, some sort of classic car. 67-70 Mustang is my main idea but I'm open to other ideas, with the correct traction, light and correct number of cylinders (ie 8). The model has to have ceased production in 1980.
  4. Went for a ride today, same track as last weekend when I had to back off because of rain. Pretty fun ride, found some nice views over the city, got lost in the woods on a road which hasn't been used for a few years based on all the branches covering it and I even got chased by dogs
  5. Yeah, when i started spl testing i measured 60 amps going to the btl and i had very small cables, going through the port. I changed them out for wires with 4 times the surface and did not gain anything.
  6. Don't lose sleep over it, use whatever you find. Typically they are tinned copper. Cut one and see what it is. The difference in conductivity for your application is minimal.
  7. Thank you for the kind words guys. It's still a knot in the stomach, i sure hope the change will be easy. I'm going to need a faster bike
  8. On the transfer case output? I have a slip yoke there so it would have meant adding an sye, new driveshaft plus road legality risks. We have a road worthy check every two years and they look under the car
  9. More boring Jeep pictures I had to put on the snow chains to check all clearances
  10. Did you tell him you wanted to think about? I'd still counter offer. Yes I am an asshole No, even though I should have. I was promised a review in about 6 months, depending on my performance. It's a huge sum, compared to my previous offer at another company. None of my old co-workers left for that much. What is daunting and what stopped me from being an asshole is that the level of work is a bit higher than what I do now.
  11. They forgot to tell you the salary is in Yen and not Euro's. I double checked, it's Euros
  12. Mutha fucking 3/16" and 5mm. I have 2 short 5mm copper brake lines which I can flare easy as pie and the only long pieces I can find are 3/16", which slip off the flaring tool. I knew I should have bought the one for imperial brake lines. Driver's side needs 10 inches of brake line, passenger side, 40 inches I can finish the driver's side easily and put a blank for the passenger side in case I really need to drive the car.
  13. My legs were destroyed 2 days after the leg workout
  14. I got a call from a manager in Germany, they offered me nearly double my current pay. This is WAY over what I expected, so it looks like my daily commute will go up from 10-15 minutes to 35-40 20 people total, 7 in this location, vacation skiing in Austria. I damn nearly fell of my chair when I heard the number.
  15. I assume double flares with a mechanical flare tool. Let me know and I'll tell you how I set it up and use one. I may even go ahead and take a few shots and run some flares for you. It is really simple if you follow a few little tips/suggestions I have figured out and been taught over the years. I have made a fucking million brake lines in my 30 years of wrenching. It's a cheap mechanical tool, looks like any other. I had trouble with the simple flare because the pipe would start to bend but i think i got the hang of it. I have 20 inches of pipe to practice on. Thank you for the offer, if i can't sort it out, i'll hit you up.
  16. Usually the truth works. Why aren't you interested? For now I don't know the pay difference. Cons 1. small vs large firm = a bit more stress but since it's an internal product it is still less than outsourcing. 2. Downtown location vs 5 minutes away. I'd have to pedal ~20 minutes to work. Pros 1. Working with very talented people 2. Working in the automotive realm and being the only one with a strong understanding of the technical field = opportunity for growth. If the pay difference is more than $300 the distance is not a problem. I hope that 300$ is a bi-weekly at least and not a monthly. Monthly Would be a very good pay , my friend who works there started with as much as i have now
  17. One caliper is on, spinning freely, good clearance. Now I need to learn to use the flaring tool for new brake lines.

  19. How would i go about refusing the offer while leaving the door open for future opportunities? It's a small company, 7 people in this location.
  20. Speaking of interviews, I've been at the weirdest interview ever. My resume was forwarded by a high-school and college friend (he taught me a ton of programming) and at the interview all the employees, 7 total, gathered around me and wanted to hear what I had to say. We got through a ton of topics and they also had information about my car audio obsession and backhoe experience You have car audio experience? In a backhoe?I have a wee bit of experience in a backhoe. Simple, don't install anything

  22. Chugging along with the rear brakes: Cut the bracket ring, extended the handbrake cables so I can fit the caliper as high as possible, cut and welded spacers (out of 1 1/8" steel bar). Now I need to find somebody with a drill press to drill holes in the spacers, which will be threaded. And the next big hurdle is cutting the connection plate between the caliper support and the bracket. That plate will allow me to fine-tune the caliper position as needed, even compensate for other rotor sizes. I wonder how I should treat the metal for corrosion after all the work is done. Powdercoat? Zinc plating? Paint?
  23. I've eaten Kefir a few times, it's pretty easy to find here.
  24. Gah, I can't believe I misplaced an important paper twice. Found it once, told myself it's going in a safe spot and I can't find it now. Really weird...
  25. I'm lucky i think, since the gf told me she wants to go to a local chinese restaurant. So i'm set for her b-day
