  1. It was Chill
  2. But first, I need ski gear for the next season
  3. 1 1/4" headset, hell, 1.5" downhill headset, biggest baddest bottom bracket I can find, strong axles and wham!
  4. I would like something which could withstand some serious abuse off-road. I looked at a Focus frame at my local bike shop and although the head tube is larger in diameter the material was thinner than on my steel frame. So I don't see the benefits. Maybe I will get a second hand frame and build on that since I have a MIG and I know a kick-ass TIG welder.
  5. Even though the crime rate here is lowish, I wouldn't be comfortable with leaving that on the street while I'm in some bar drinking.
  6. Right before I repainted the front fender. The biggest help in keeping the frame and chain alive all winter in bad roads is the extension on the front fender. No more dirt from the front wheel on the frame
  7. I'm pretty sure I can muster the 20 mile cross-country marathon. If I could only find a suspension fork, I'd be golden.
  8. Fucking exhausted.
  9. Bang on 40 miles on the bike in roughly 4 hours. With stops for rest and pictures. It was all road and I had to mellow down my rhythm since I wasn't the slowest. At one point somebody else on a fancy MTB passed us, I chased him and it was pretty fun seeing the difference in gearing, I had 1 gear left and my cadence was low, he ran out of gears and had a lot faster cadence.
  10. I bought it cheap (ebay) just because it was dirty. The guy used wax based lube and it mixed with mud. I use diff oil (80w90) and clean the chain every 1 or 2 weeks and lube it after any ride in the wet.
  11. Dirty Clean, ready for assembly All done
  12. It has zero play in the pins, very good jockey wheels. All in all much better than my old one, which even started to rust. Got some pretty hard miles on the bike this winter, salt is a big problem Normally Shimano derailleur's are disposable...
  13. You need a new router. Mine is nonsense amazing. Brand and model? Hitachi MV12 I'm still pimping my 6 year old Skill, works like a trooper, with the occasional hiccups: doesn't lock at the set depth, depth limiter unscrews itself, sometimes it doesn't pop up when released.
  14. Got the rear calipers for my disk brake conversion. They even came with good, quality pads. And I can work the handbrake by hand on both (they are combination calipers) so apparently they are in very good condition. At $65 for both it's the deal of the spring. Getting free rotors, if I can pull this conversion off under $100 it's a great deal. Also got a Deore XT rear derailleur, that thing was caked in mud mixed with dry grease. Took me a bit over an hour to strip it down, clean it, lube it and put it back together. Before and after pics coming
  15. Ah, Saturday, time to clean up the garage from this week's rush-projects....
  16. ^That easily expresses my last 2 weeks...
  17. Overhaul is still on the to-do list. Only the headset is off the list since I overhauled that last weekend.
  18. Deore XT front and rear deraillers are in the mail and with those my upgrades are complete
  19. I want good weather, there's another bike competition (20 mile long course) at the end of April and I WANT to get a few good off-road trips before that. Without mud of course. Probably going on a 40 mile road trip this weekend. Target time is 5 hours I'm not going to be on my own.
  20. Time to finish up a fiberglass box. With this stupid weather I could to small bits at a time: one day the first few layers of the back, second day the rest, third day cutting and fiberglassing all the mdf panels, fourth day fiberglassing the baffle to the rest and today I'm going to close all gaps and carpet it.
  21. Tell me about it...too much rain, too much cold. I'm all ready for summer
  22. If this guy doesn't know how to wire a switch, do you expect him to think so outside of the box and lock his switch? Or take the buzzer out? He won't be cool in front of his buddies.
  23. Ur sooo rad bro, can I be your friend and hang out with you?
  24. Rain rain and more rain
  25. Shit, that would feel awkward
