  1. The first part is why I too feel that giving to charity is selfish. This is mostly for the sake of discussion but IMO a lot of things we do have a selfish reason behind them. If you take it to the extreme, even helping somebody has some selfishness behind it, since there is a feel-good sensation to it or at some point the favor will be returned.
  2. People are soo varied, you can expect endless points of view. I want to figure out what I can do to get to that level
  3. I'm not in Germany but I'm close enough to know the whole market. IMHO that sub is a good sub but I feel Helix stuff is way over-priced. They are made in the same factory as Mach5. Jinlenda I guess, look for any sub with pink glue on the motor, same build house as the SPXL
  4. Plus I love riding the bike, I ride everywhere around town, no matter the weather.
  5. You are doing all this, because you don't have a running car, correct? The car is running well I ride the bike since my job is 2 miles away, it's not even worth driving, in the 18 months since I have worked here I never drove once to work.
  6. Speaking of Minnesnowta, a co-worker is going there a couple of days. Wish it was me instead of him
  7. 10F this night. And the wind is absurd. I had trouble pedaling back from work in the blizzard. 30F at most tomorrow. Fun times I say, spring is here...
  8. Bought an XT rear derailler from the same era as my bike and I'm currently watching the front derailler, same age.
  9. My Rain-X wipers were pretty good, I have had them for almost 4 years now. The biggest help is using some sort of compound on the glass. I used some local cheap stuff and water just slides off at anything past 40. It's pretty bitchin.
  10. Small companies are not popular here and they are usually oriented at SQ snobs. For instance, a few years ago a set of Seas CA18RNX's were cheaper to import from the US than to buy from Germany
  11. Honestly, you get good shipping rates to APO addresses, through USPS. Generally, stuff sold here (Europe) is more expensive, which is exactly the reason why I have a TON of gear bought from the US, even though I'm not in the military so I don't have cheap shipping.
  12. This. Second cars don't save you money. It is for emotional reasons or convince of not having to drive your truck. Couldn't agree more Mine is stock but blows absolutely no smoke. Billowing black smoke is a sign of shitty tuning and a problem waiting to happen
  13. Gut pics please? If it's good, I'll take it for sure
  14. MF'er, I had nothing to do at the office today. Days like this beat the living life out of me. I'd rather write hundred of lines of code than do nothing all day.
  15. I agree on modifications being hard on the transmission. From what I can gather, the stock Getrag 5 speed in first gen Rams was just slightly higher rated than the engine. You start tuning it, bam goes the transmission. And for the torque numbers of a tuned diesel, it's no wonder transmissions suffer. But anyway, you have turbo, you have more heat, you have tight tolerances in fuel systems, you have iffy injectors (commonrail) so lots more to go wrong compared to a gasoline engine. And lots more in maintenance Funny to hear complaints about the "cost" of a diesel then to hear how not many can afford such a truck.
  16. Gas from hell
  17. If a Jasper Jig is not available, you can DIY a jig. This one is adjustable, I can cut anywhere between 1" and 20" diameter.
  18. Looks like MTB race this weekend was postponed to next Sunday. Decent weather next week, with minimal rain, looks like I'm buying cross-country tires and registering for the race
  19. Yep, cheaper material for testing is a good idea.
  20. Hell. Froze. Over. All jokes aside... Do you have anyone in the area with such a setup? It would be worth listening to such a system before you jump head-first into it, especially if you're not sure you will like it.
  21. ooks like I have to tune tune-up on 2 bikes that sat outside over winter. And they start off with crappy components
  22. I'm never tackling work after others again.
  23. No more BMW, the hooptie was picked up by the customer, he was a bit bummed of the cost of work but considering how many hours I put into fixing all the electrical crap, he should be thankful I didn't charge by the hour.
