Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
And boo for rain and mud, I can't ride tomorrow on next weekend's race track with these tires

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Took the time today to true the front wheel on my bike. It only took me 15 minutes, I really should have done this a long time ago but I was afraid of the process.

As far as I know if you can find a separate module which has the auto function, go for it. I want one too. On the Golf the buttons for all windows had 4 positions (2 up, 2 down), with 2 of them being auto.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I found the right splined tool today for $5, got the cassette changed without a chainwhip. Bearings were in surprisingly good condition after this winter's commute. Gave the chainring a good clean and also cleaned up the "new" brakes. I need to find a day to install the brakes and brake cables until next Sunday when the season opener for the MTB championship takes place. 4 or 5 laps on a 2.3 mile track. I'm going this Sunday with some co-workers to check out the track. And then it's tire shopping time Would be cool to take my 20+ year old bike and whoop some expensive bike arse WHoop 'em. I also ride a 1993 mtb. Road bike is 10 years older I smoke people all the time.Cables take a half hour maybe, not a day. Make sure you lubricate the new ones first as they don't come that way and it is way easier before assembly. "A day" for me means an hour or so in an afternoon. About 2 weeks ago I changed the front brake cable sometime during around midnight as that's only when I found the time Mine's 1991-1992 based on the group set.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I used moly grease since that is all I have right now. But I will get some blue grease. It's easy to remove the wheel bearing cups, clean and re-grease. Less than an hour to do both wheels.

Other than the lack of being rebuildable LX stuff is bombproof. Google DIY Chainwhip if you can't find one locally....oh, and how the fuck can a local bike store not have one? Takes .2 seconds to do and even if you only buy a new tube there they should do it for free. It's not the chainwhip, I can handle DIY'ing one, it's the splined too which I'm missing LX shifters look a lot like what I have, I'm starting to think that the previous owner already changed them and kept the original handlebar mounts. The derailleurs on mine are excellent and as far as I can tell from service manuals, not much of a difference between mine and LX of the same era.

And that's only counting going to work, to the gym and typical Sunday grocery shopping.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I just worked out my mileage with the bike and I did a little over 1000 miles since I got it almost a year ago.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
More parts arrived, still missing the rear shifter and chainring / cranks but I can do without them since this is an overhaul and upgrade at one time. Brakes are Deore LX, shifters are Deore LX, same vintage as mine (couldn't pass up a new lever + shifter combo for 1 euro). Today should have been the day I change the chain and rear cassette but the bike shop didn't have the remover tool so now I have to shop around for one

MF'ing photobucket, I can't upload a photo. It says I need to log in first, although I'm logged in.

Yes indeed, biggish lift while keeping the stock suspension.

Nice looking truck

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
It is live front and rear, they use portal axles, similar to what the Unimogs use.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I can love the narrow stance as long as it's low. Not high in the sky like a G-wagen.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I loathe G-wagens. Heavy, underpowered diesels (older models), very expensive, don't flex, narrow and tall. What else can I say?

Happy Birthday Duran!

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I managed 27 on mountain roads and loaded (3 people and luggage) going to the ski resort, quite impressed. Imperial gallon, or US gallon? US gallons

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
The brakes and one of the shifters should arrive tomorrow so I can commence the overhaul.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Salmon pads are the shit I went with dual compounds but most of the pad is salmon And by the looks of things I will have to buy a new rim. The gash is 1mm deep and I'm not sure I want to run it like that.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Going for a bit of an overhaul on the bike: New front and rear shifters (got lucky and found both NOS for peanuts on ebay) Better brakes and shiny new brake pads New brake levers (so I can move these to my old bike and get that functional again) New rear cassette and new chain. And I almost fucked my rear rim because one of the pads wore out completely. There is a big valley in the middle of the braking surface all the way around
