  1. Seth, do you happen to have any wiring schematic for a 96 Jeep Cherokee?
  2. The only Hazet tool which I have is a 1/4" ratchet, which has been a workhorse for over 10 years. If that's your thought on Hazet, then spending 120 euros on their torque wrench will be easy
  3. This wiring problem must be some sort of revenge of the hooptied BMW (which still isn't done due to cold weather).
  4. Tried to climb a muddy (clay and grass) hill today and got denied two times. Both times I had to quickly shift into reverse and reverse down to safety. At one point when reversing my electrical gremlin popped up, the ignition cut out completely, only accessories were working. It happened before when reversing and I blamed it on the ignition switch. Today while replacing the ignition switch I notice one loom has different tape than all the others. And a large gauge wire had the insulation burnt off on both ends of a plug. Going back on the rebel loom I find 3 relays and one big yellow plug. With pucking jumpers on a few of the wires. Well hello clusterfuck wiring, the car probably had an alarm system at some point in its life. Now the fun begins to get the wiring back to standard :(
  5. Took the Heep out for a spin today, everything runs fine, EGTs are at the same level as before on long inclines BUT it developed a boost whine. I lay on the throttle and I can hear the whine spool up, I ease off and I can hear it spool down. Absolutely in tone with the boost. Probably a boost leak and it's going to be a bitch to find
  6. Depends on the need and your budget. I like the click type, but sometimes I need an angle or stretch and precision (read expensive) wrenches are necessity. Oh yeah, I think click is good. I already have an angle gauge
  7. If competing I would go Yukon. It;s size is more conducive to a better resonance for output. The Suburban is much bigger. As far as Expeditions, you couldn't give me one. I am so fuckin sick and tired of fixing those big pieces of shit I don't even have the time to tell you. No offense Den, but Ford V8s suck dick. Do they make torque wrenches that cheap? My most recent torque wrench cost me almost $500. I've seen some Hazet torque wrenches in that price range. I need 20-100Nm, not a huge range and huge torque, that's why I mentioned that budget.
  8. Ok tool people, recommend me a torque wrench. Up to $180, I need it to start from 15lbsft
  9. I like to stay away from the Z1 after having one with a hole in the board, which caught fire after it was fixed (unrelated to the repair) and seeing a second one almost burning a hole in the board.
  10. It snowed all day today but temperatures were above freezing so the snow didn't stick too much
  11. I need the cash for a damn VNT. Quick, big snail for Adrian.
  12. Not sure about diesel but I have found restrictive exhaust manifolds and open from the down pipe out provides better torque and horsepower transition in gasoline motors. I have tried large long tube headers and short small tube headers and found much better 60 foot times and overall 1/4 miles were considerably improved What you're saying makes sense for a turbo engine. Small tubes, high velocity is all good. And since in a drag application you're at WOT I would compare it to a diesel because diesels it doesn't use a throttle body so they flow a lot of air all the time. In my situation the ports in the head are slightly bigger than the manifold so porting was maybe a generous word, gasket matching would describe it better.
  13. One more thing I really need to address is porting the exhaust manifold. That will get done either when it's new turbo time or new downpipe time.
  14. Looks like 40+ people in the division I'm in got promised the 16% tax exempt and it's not going to happen. Tomorrow is pay-day and I'm going to enjoy seeing the reactions.
  15. It's funny hearing people with high-end equipped, 4-5 year old bikes complain that their shifters are acting up. Mine probably got their only clean-up in the last 20 years this autumn and before that they worked fine. And they are considered low-end. Just for the hell of it I'll probably enter a cycling competition this summer. Gotta find some skinny, light wheel/tire combo and then I'm good to go.
  16. There will be other winters, plus I hate driving salty roads And just now the weather forecast said that we will get some snow.
  17. Heads are installed and torqued, I started the engine for 30 seconds (without coolant, turbo hoses and assorted crap) all is well. Repair procedure calls for running the engine 20 minutes at operating temperature and retorquing some of the head screws after it cools off. I finally have motorized transportation again
  18. Well, I never switched back, so I'm oblivious to other discussions
  19. There are vids of an Audi S2 from Hungary which is around 9 in the 1/4 mile. When it launches you see the suspension squat and away it goes.
  20. Well, yeah but after the raises I should be getting, this interview was more like an experience builder. I will find out on Friday if I'm exempt from the 16% tax. Good luck on yours
  21. Went to an interview today and luckily there was a technical interview too. It was the first interview I went to and saw the interviewer very nervous. Slight tremble in his voice, shaky hands.
  22. Still staying inside this afternoon, tomorrow is "install heads day"
  23. Ahem, change your diet and stop banging chancre infested whores. Actual LOL, that made my day I had to go back and check if I did a typo. Seriously, what to change in my diet to help me keep the cold away? I eat fruits and veggies in decent amounts. Balance young skywalker. Although fruits and veggies are key. I might have downed cold beers too fast on Saturday night. I'm back up to 90% in function today, with only a light cough and a sore throat, no more shivers and fever.

  25. 3 of the heads are complete, with valves lapped, valve seals installed, springs and rocker arms installed but the fourth has a big casting sand piece in the cooling channels. If I shake it, it rattles. I let it soak for 36hrs with diesel, it only seems like it got smaller. Let it soak for 1 hour with engine degreaser, nothing. I can't reach it with a piece of wire either. For all the other heads, the diesel worked wonders in cleaning the casting sand but this one is iffy. Any ideas on what I can use to soak the casting sand? They're aluminum heads.
