  1. I know ALOT of people that get onto these forums just to chat with their friends and not learn anything.
  2. I remember back in 09/10 finals (can't remember which one), there was a Van in line with something like +/_ 165 db on the line for a world title (I think a world record too since it was sealed with the mic on the dash).Someone called him on this (removing air duct work) because this was Illegal in that particular class. But I know for sure this has been done on extreme vehicles. Something about when the mic is legal on the dash, there is a way to get air pressure from the kick panel area to and on the dash. Like I said, a sneaky trick to gain those extra DBs !!! Wish I knew more about it.
  3. I will admit that we (Billy Jack and myself) got a little off topic reminiscing the old days but the theory of gaining DBs was the primary. Nothing about this blind AB stuff was posted in this thread (which has nothing to do with gaining DBs) until Sean post what I quoted here. Thread practically derailed from there. I was going to quote and discuss with Adrain on topic but found it unnecessary after the derailment. Please understand, I'm not taking sides here. Just pointing out the obvious. I'm assuming this particular subject started on another thread ????
  4. Billy Jack is the OP in this thread.
  5. I'm not sure how they are doing it, but the are slowing music and adding heavier bass frequencies to the music. More and more songs every day. Sounds like shit to me, but to each his own I guess. You're not going to find info on this subject on this forum. Just saying. I'd be willing to guess you know where to look.
  6. Sean, for the most part, that's the way it is in the SPL world. Most that chase numbers will design and build for that application. Some go WAY extreme. But when it comes to a tie breaker, you look anxd will try just about anything that might work to get that half a DB over their competitors. And as for those old school amplifiers, I have one boxed up I wouldn't mind throwing in that mix !!! I think it's a class AB setup ???
  7. well actually, this is not entirely true. LOL In the Camaro, I had the Sony 10 disc changer installed with the Linear Power PA2/X03 combo. Awesome Stuff back in the day !!!
  8. I run Kenwood head units. Had a few Pioneer units, but was never satisfied with them. I have the DNX9980HD and love it !!!
  9. Gotcha. Had a pair of round comp 15s. Well, still have them in their original boxes somewhere in the shop. Traded them out with a pair of Blues Car Audio 15s when the first hit the market. Still have them playing in my mom's antique audio cabinet. Need to find a cabinet to put it those Kickers in.
  10. Sound like an awesome setup. Ran a few Kicker products myself back in the day. Use to love to go up to Stillwater and pick up equipment. Dang, I didn't think the L7s were made in the 90s. I remember seeing the old square solarbaric (L5) drivers, but not the L7s ... need to call Jerry McCord and check on that ...
  11. Back when I competed with my 85 Iroc, it had a pair of 12s in the T- top compartment. Back then there was a musical 140db cut off in my class which was easy to achieve. So not much modification had to be done with the Camaro.
  12. Been doing this a while brother. And to think I'm mainly a Sound Quality competitor. And before you ask ... No, I've never done this to my SQ rides. LOL
  13. Remove A/C duct work.
  14. LOL I knew something was coming with that T Line remark. Thanks Sean for not letting me down !!!
  15. Way to bring back an old thread.
  16. Welcome to SSA
  17. Nice Driver. GLWS
  18. Use to love watching my old analog meter dancing around. Can't remember the brand though. I thought about experimenting with an Autometer gauge. Good luck with your search.
  19. Thanks for sharing
  20. Cool whip bro. Nice Setup !!!
