  3. Where did you hear that? A little more explanation on the nutshell would be beneficial.I like get to out with our car audio friends and family at shows and events across the great united states we live in and see what they have in thier vehicles. Was I wrong with this info?
  4. It was told to me in a nut shell that "high current" ( class D) amplifiers run lower ohm loads to make power. But "high voltage" (class AB) amplifiers run higher ohm loads to make power. Usually 4 or 8 ohms in car audio use. My sub bass amplifier (class AB) never sees anything lower than a 8 ohm load. Hope this helps.
  5. Nice Ride
  6. Sup Clint !!! Under the seat enclosure or you plan to remove the back seat ???
  7. Fluids need to be checked on a regular basis. At the very least once a week. Battery connections at least once a month. Just saying
  8. One of the big reasons you do not see alot of "big bass ground pounding" style systems competing Sound quality is rattles. Big bass creates rattles that you have to constantly take apart and fix before judging. It can get VERY hectic. Also, when over in the SQ area, you are not alowed to jack up your system while other vehicles are being judged. This is one reason why they making plans to go with separate events for SQ and SPL. Some places are spread doing this for noise ordinances and permits. Beat of luck with your build Sir. Looks like you've come a long way with your audio knowledge since I've been gone !!!
  9. Welcome to SSA. Sent you a PM.
  10. Haven't had time to look up and read the specs on the newer Kenwood units that replaced my 9980, but I hear that they are really nice.
  11. Welcome. Post pics !!!
  12. We were using the Sheffield Labs collection in my truck at finals. I tried to give you a copy of my demo disc but you left ... If you really want to tune for MECA, get their copy of the new judging disc or the Chesky Records collection. Hope this helps.
  13. Yep, Same thing for my Son's 88 Ford F150. Think all we did was upgrade all of the grounds and everything seems to be working fine.
  14. Dang, that's tucked for static !!! Nice. Have to do any cutting for clearance ??
  15. Nice Truck. You have it just dropped or is it on air ride ??
  16. I have a friend that took a Helix processor and hooked it up to a stock HU in a Ford Edge. Said it worked great, but was lacking (not sure what exactly). To my knowledge, they added a Pioneer 80PRS in and made the factory HU a source unit for the PRS. meaning the Pioneer was the primary unit to the helix and the factory HU was then secondary. Something like that. I was told it made a HUGE difference. Maybe you can do something like this to get RCA power to the processor and still keep the factory HU. Please keep in mind that I'm only going by was was told to me about the Edge so it's only a suggestion. If you ever get time, Josh competes with the Edge in MECA Sound Quality comps. Maybe you could catch up to him and see it for your self and get some ideas about this.
  17. Yea, you could be right there. I'd def. like to see what process goes into a modification like this. And like I said (or meant ot say), He might do it, I've just never heard of it. Thanks. Do you have a Email, link, number, or something that I could get up with him and ask a few questions? Having trouble finding something.
