  1. A team member designed the enclosure for me. He designs all of our enclosures. I built the enclosure for this build. He Designed this enclosure to origional IA Flatline specs found on the net (So I'm told). I wish I could get my hands on an origional IA Flatline driver just so I can Swap drivers and see if I can tell a difference. I'm not trying to argue with anyone brother. I'm just posting my thoughts on a driver that I got to work with first hand. If anyone within a hundred miles or so from Jackson, Ms with an origional Flatline driver would like to meet up with me and compare drivers, Shoot me a PM so we can meet up some time.
  2. They seem to be very popular at major events. ALOT of those amplifers were being used at this past unified World Finals event. Any details on this ?? Maybe post up a link or something ??
  3. I always buy Welding Cable from our local Welding Supply shop. I cut my cables to the desired length, then take them back to the shop to get them to install the connectors. Never had any problems with any of my vehicles or the vehicles I send their way for cable upgrades. Those old school welders really know how to install connectors. Could I do it myself ?? Yea, but I support my friends that work at this local welding Supply shop.
  4. Awesome Driver Welcome to SSA
  5. Did you go to your Vehicle's dealership to get an upgraded Alternator to work with your upgraded aftermarket stereo system ?? No, Most likely you went with someone that took the origional idea and made it better to work with your application. The aftermarket thing has been going on for years with cars and trucks. Where have you been brother ?? I'm sure I will not be able to ease over the local Ford place to buy replacement parts for my 1949 model vehicle. I have no choice but to go aftermarket. Sorry brother, but this post is pure speculation. I have another friend that has a chevy Truck that is similar to mine. Well, His is a GMC and mine is Chevy. His has one of those well named audio aftermarket alternators on it and mine has a General Motors Upgrade off of a 3500 series chevy, but my truck is a 1500 series. Now when you set the alternators side by side, they are identical. If it wasn't for the aftermarket audio brand being powercoated, you could not tell which one is which. So did this well named audio brand (they have a section on this forum) steal ideas and / or parts from origional manufacturers ?? I don't know Guys. Maybe at the time of my friend's need of work being done, nothing was avialiable from IA. Out of stock ?? Who knows ?? But from what I was told, the PSI work got done in a very timely manner.
  6. Like I said, this was for a friend and not my driver, So I'm not sure how he went to PSI instead of factory replacememt. So it's not my place to say if he did right or wrong. All I was stating was how good the driver performs after being built by PSI. Now as far as getting parts from the origional companies ?? Guess that would depend on cost and availiability at the time of needing the work done in a timely manner. From what I've seen at major events, PSI was building SEVERAL drivers over night for next day competition. I do not know of any origional manufacturer that does this. I've never had a chance to demo an origional Flatline driver, So I have nothing to compare to or else I would be glad to give my thoughts on this. I'm thinking the guy bought the sub used and messed up and sent it to PSI. So far, the results of this driver was a positive. So as far as I'm concerned after Seeing the drivers in action in the SPL side of things and now seeing a musical built driver, PSI seems to do good work.
  7. Nice Amplifiers GLWS
  8. WOW ... From what I remember reading about the DD-1 product, It's intended use was for sub bass only. It was never meant for mid bass, mid range, or highs applications. I do not own a DD-1, nor will I ever purchase one. Like I said, I just remember reading about it.
  9. Thank you Sir
  10. There you go brother. PM sent Much room for improvement, but enough to get you started !!! Best of luck Randal
  11. Hmmm Looks like the same head unit my Son is getting for his birthday.
  12. dang, forgot to ask for a link to the headunit specs. Don't suppose you'd have that for me too ???
  13. A good crossover starting point for the tweeters is 3000 htz, and a good crossover starting point for the 6.5" drivers is 80 htz. Not sure of the specs of that particular amplifier's crossover setup. Could you post a link to view specs ??
  14. Nothing's wrong with them. Just need to make sure everything is crossed over and installed correctly for safe operation.
  15. Welcome to SSA. Are you running a stock headunit ??
  16. I do not plan to make any events until after SBN Daytona. I'm not so sure about Matt (Guy with the PSI built IA Flatline sub). We haven't started anything audio wise in the 49 Ford yet. Working to get it into the body shop at the moment. I'm still having mixed emotions about what I want to do about my dash. I want my component set installed into the dash, but not sure if I actually want to cut up my dash until I find another one just incase I mess something up or not like the outcome. On top of that, I haven't figured if we are actually building ported and tuned enclosures for the component set (behind the dash) or vent them through the origional air vents that will not be used in the firewall once the air conditioner is installed. The thought of utilizing those air vents in some way would be really cool if it can be done. Kinda driving me nutz actually. Guess we will come up with something when we get to that part of the install. If I go to any events, it will be to support my team mates and friends ... Most of the events I'm looking forward to is the MECA events in Tennessee and Mississippi. Maybe a couple of USACI evnets in Mississippi, but not to compete. I will go out further once the 49 Ford is in motion. Can't wait to see the updates to your ride !!!
  17. Until the last couple of weekends, I've only seen PSI built subs mainly in SPL competition. Well, except for the couple of times that I got my brains mashed in by Dangrebel's 4 18s setup ... And like I said, positive results every time. Say what you want about the company or the owner(s), but they build some very nice drivers for the SPL competition world. The other day I built an enclosure for a PSI built IA Flatline ported and tuned to 36 htz powered by a Linear Power 2202 amplifier for a friend of mine. This guy likes to be loud on music with no care for a meter reading. Large enclosure for a Mini Van on about 550 watts of Class A/B power. I must say that after listening to all kinds of music from the Eagles / Sheffield Labs to Skrillix / Slowed and Screwed (his music, Not mine), My thoughts on a "musical" PSI built IA 15" Flatline driver ... Not bad at all guys !!! Really impressive !!! He's in the process of buying a better headunit with EQ and Time Alignment so as soon as I can get a few pics and vids up, I will because when I first saw this driver, I automatically thought about this thread. We are hoping to get this vehicle out to a few events this year and get some demos going. So if you are anywhere near the Ms / Tn / La area ... Please swing by a few events and check out this ride !!! Thanks SSA Randal
  18. LOL ... WhateverHere, you should read this and take note of when they should be used. It will help people not assume you are an idiot before even reading what you type. When it is a visual shitshow with all sorts of screwed up grammar it forces the reader to preconceive what to expect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellipsis It is all good brother. I just do that to piss you off since you are the only one that complains about it. Don't stress about it
  19. Ok ...If you take a 4 channel amplifer and set it on a test bench, and ONLY connect the ground, positive, and remote wires up and fire up a solid 12.6 volts ... the amplifier should set there at idle ??? or is it common practice to ALWAYS connect RCAs up to an amplifier before startup ???What would happen if you turn the gain up in this application ???No matter how you phrase the question, the answer is the same. No, it will not damage or hurt anything. OK ... Thank you Sir LOL ... Whatever
  20. Ok ... If you take a 4 channel amplifer and set it on a test bench, and ONLY connect the ground, positive, and remote wires up and fire up a solid 12.6 volts ... the amplifier should set there at idle ??? or is it common practice to ALWAYS connect RCAs up to an amplifier before startup ??? What would happen if you turn the gain up in this application ???
  21. I would think that if you set the balance, that would be the same thing as turning the volume all the way down ... If you have a source RCA hooked up to only half of the ports, what is the other side of the amplifier going to do ?? Is is just going to set there at idle ?? or being that you have only one power supply feeding voltage to ALL channels ... is is going to try and make some kind of power and create heat ???
  22. Beings that I have a lowrider ... I have to ask Are you willing to add that much weight to your truck ??? Enclosure (atleast 2 to 3 sheets of 3/4 mdf), drivers, batteries, and amplifiers ??? Also, You want that enclosure to be over the rear end area ??? If so ... I can't wait to see it !!!
  23. That's not what I'm asking ... 0.001v is still something going into that channel because it is physically connected to a source. I'm talking about leaving the RCAs open with no load on the outputs, and the amplifier powered up ... Will it hurt the amplifier ???
