  1. I do know that on the "TrailBlazers" you can find the Bose adapters for the doors to make them a factory location for a 8" driver in each front door ... I'm thinking that they upgrade the rear doors to 6.5" drivers in the rear doors also ... Now I'm not sure if its ie the same for your vehicle ... But it could be something you could check out and make things a little easier ... Please refresh my memory ... That particular vehicle have factory dash speakers ??? 4x6" drivers maybe ???
  2. happy birthday
  3. Seriously ???2 cans of crap and 10 minutes. Still need to do bed rails and tailgate. I have 1 can left, so I guess it will a $15 job when done. Can you paint over it once it is completely dried and cured ??? I'm considering doing this (or something similar) to the lower rocker pannels on my truck ... then repainting to match ...
  4. Nice turn out Sir ... Seriously ???
  5. Most people seem to have some sort of missunderstanding about most competition Sound Quality vehicles ... It's not that the vehicles will not get loud, but that there is SOO much pride in attention to details, quality install, so on and so forth ... they do not want to "crank" their systems up and somehow create rattles and have to tear their vehicles apart to fix ... and they usually have their gains set so low that you do not hear any unwanted noises from the system ... Also, is normally why you see them running LARGER amplifiers for better dynamics and headroom ... Some don't mind readjusting and goosing it up some ... but not much. I know from first hand experience late nights before a big show on taking just about every pannel out of your vehicle just to find and fix a buzz or rattle ... The least little bit of buzz or rattle WILL take the listener's attention off of the stage and image and que in on that discrepancy .... I've almost got to the point to where I can take my truck apart and reinstall everything blind folded ... In Sound Quality ... No matter how you set your system up, It has to be designed to where you absolutely can not tell where your drivers are installed ... It should do nothing but give you a stage and image presence up and out on the hood of your vehicle ... So if you use multiple drivers setups, the more independant time alignment and phase adjustments you will need for your setup to give your system that stage and image presense you need ... Now when you throw horns into the mix ... things can get difficult. Which is probably why you are gettting SOO many suggestions into the mix ... Please look into this ... There was once 2 cars sucessfully run horns in their SQ vehicles ... and they had their midbass drivers (one had 12" drivers, the other had 10" drivers) behind the listener's seating position in the rear Quarter pannels of the vehicle (nothing in their doors) ... Wonder why that is ??? This may help you ... may not ... You just might find something that will give you an edge towards the goal you are shooting for ...
  6. If you build an enclosure in each door ... Will you still be able to roll your windows up and down ?? I know in my truck (I know, each vehicle is different ... just asking) that the window mechanism goes way down in that area where the drivers are located ... Reason I'm tuned into this thread is because I plan to change some things in my doors too ... Just not going to say what yet cause I'm not so sure it's going to happen ...
  7. Best of luck brother ... Can't wait to meet up with you in the lanes !!!
  8. You seen my truck get really loud and keep it's stage and image, and it has no problems putting a 140 on the termlab ... All I'm saying is time alignment alone will GREATLY improve on what you have now ... even when cranked up !!!
  9. You do know that most trucks like yours that compete Sound Quality usually have no larger than a 8" driver in each door ... The best ones that I have heard had them installed in almost exact stock position (mainly the Guy that won Modified) ... During our demo ... you had really nice output on your midbass drivers. However, your horns needed ALOT of attention ... My suggestion (and please, this is only my suggestion) ... would be to upgrade your headunit with time alignment and a good bit of EQ ... ... or add a processor to your system and get them horns tweeked out and THEN see what you need to work with on midbass ...
  10. Man ... I feel sorry for those subs !!! LOL I understand this ... You live, learn, adapt, and overcome as a competitor ... Got alot of changes being done to my truck too (hopefully before SBN Daytona) ...
  11. Gotcha ... Thanks brother and BEST OF LUCK !!!
  12. I've never blown an amplifier ... He was doing a amplifier "trade in" deal not to long ago ...
  13. Didn't know they made some rule / class changes for this year ... Thanks !!! I will get over to the USACI site and read up !!! With the caps ... I see no problems here. But the Questiion I do have with the popular S10 is (if you do not want to say, thats fine. Just asking) what do you plan to have the enclosure tuned to ??? I was thinking that those trucks liked to be around 65 - 75 htz for burps ... but What for street beat ???
  14. Uncapping the exhaust is illegal in some states (electronically or manually) ... pass a cop by mistake with the headers uncapped and they will treat you like a street racer ... most cases not good. Most vehicles sound really good with a larger diameter pipe set up in a "cat back" format with a nice high performance muffler ... Run you tail pipes completly out the rear or atleast behind the rear tires (45'd out to the rear) and you shouldn't have any problems. Then again, some people like the sound of turn downs before the rear end ... depends on the sound you are looking for ...
  15. Looks like SPAM to me ...
  16. Noob ... Ha, Ha Welcome
  17. Yea, seems that way ... Looks like USACI is getting the most attention on the SPL side whereas MECA had the largest Sound Quality turnout at World Finals this year ... I think It was the largest Sound Quality turnout in MECA history ... I didn't get to see much of the MECA SPL stuff this year ...
  18. Awesome I got some family down that way I haven't seen in sometime.I'll keep a lookout for it.I wish MECA was doing the Car Audio part of this event instead of USACI ... We are working hard to get more MECA events down here in the Jackson, Ms area if you guys are interested ... I know USACI has Showfest(Tunica/Southaven), Chillaxin/Ridin the Park(Jackson/Pearl), and Scrapin the Coast(Biloxi) ... Get them to Call and talk to Steve from MECA to set something up ... That would be a fun drive for me ...
  19. Yep, I think he set one (maybe more) of the world records in Huntsville (Finals) ... Correct ??? I talked to him, but didn't get a chance to demo the "Black Nasty" ... Maybe next time I know there's alot more guys doing this, But Andrew's truck just came to mind first ... ... only a matter of time before you set one up in your truck ?????????????????????????? Think I will stick to my pair of Walmart batteries for now ... All I wanted to do was help verify that Dave's thead is not spam ....
  20. Almost every one of his posts on this forum has been promoting or advertising one of his business ventures. That is spam. It's no different than any other non-supporting vendor or business coming on here to promote/sell their products....which are all likewise treated as they should be, as spam. If they want to advertise, then they need to pay the same fees as every other supporting vendor and/or advertisement on the site. Allowing non-supporting vendors to advertise undermines the supporting vendors and other advertisers who pay to be here. Competition companies like IASCA, MECA, USACI, and CAOTC do not sell product ... So how could they be classified as vendors ??? Ok ... for those of you that do not compete ... I'm not sure of how all of this works to competitor's advantage yet ... nor am I going to get into it with any one about it, but this is one of the hottest trends on the competition circuit today ... please note: these are not my pics ... just pics I found on google search for the topic I wanted to post on ... So like I said very clear ... I do not run this type of setup, nor do I know for any fact as to what advantage or disadvantage this can do for competition ... but people are seeing ALOT more of these things in the competition lanes today ... Hope this helps ...
  21. Guys ... My apologies for posting here. i knew better ... To the op ... I personall think that you should listen to these people here and go with what ever drivers suit your application the best ... Best of luck with your system ... I think I will finally join my team mates and promise myself to never post on this forum again ... Just too much of a hassle ... Again, thanks SSA
  22. Hmmm ... Wonder where you got that Glowing Grille idea ??? Looks Awesome my brother !!!
