  1. Link to my fuck up: I couldn't tell much difference between the variations. Even with the plastic cover and dash mat over the tweeter. Call me crazy? If the midbass(exodus) drivers will work in the doors, I'm thinking midrange driver + tweeter in kick, or midrange driver in kick and tweeter in stock dash position.
  2. Okay not really, I snapped a terminal on one of my tweets. Hooked it up, doesn't sound any different.
  3. Uploading pictures of my fuck up, and some testing. I tried the tweeters against the a-pillars firing towards the center of dash, and each other a-pillar, then tried the tweeters in the stock dash position. To me, it was hard to differentiate any difference in sound. Which is leading me to tweets in stock dash location.
  4. Just snapped a terminal on one of the tweets, think I fixed it, about to do some testing, bb in hour.
  5. With mids completely out of the picture for testing?
  6. That's what I'm beginning to like, mainly for the additional leg room. I'm interested to hear Brad and Sean's input, considering they seem to have an abundance of information that's always helped me in my endeavors.
  7. Both drivers have a pretty big usable bandwidth, but there are a few things I hear on some material that gives me the impression that adding another driver, and lessening the bandwidth on each driver will fix the issue, and if done correctly, improve overall sound. I'm up for the task of a three way after spending countless hours (that add up to days) learning from the two-way. Perhaps it's unnecessary, perhaps not.
  8. I'd appreciate any one's thoughts who has had experience with the various locations, and differences noted.
  9. I've seen tons of builds with tweeters and midrange in kicks, so I'm not too worried about that part. More interested in midbass driver in door location | sealed, ib choices. Should give me more shit to glass.

WOW ! Pretty awesome work huh.
  11. Not enough room on a-pillars unless I do smaller tweets. Anything mounted to the door will be with a fiberglassed panel / pod. Since our ears aren't too keen on picking up sound source location vertically, I figured the tweets / midrange would work well in the kicks.
  12. Current setup: exodus ex-anarchy mids peerless/scanspeak hds tweets Kicks are sealed. I've started making new kick panels for the mids and tweets, possibly porting for more midbass, but I've started thinking about exodus mids in doors, get some midrange drivers (bumping up to a three way, I think I can manage ), put midrange & tweets in kick area, or just midrange kick, and or possibly tweets in dash and deal with window reflections. I like the idea of mids in doors so I could seriously free up some leg room, what downsides am I'm looking at? If they went into the doors, they would be mounted to a fiberglass panel/pod that's securely bolted to the sheet metal. The panel/pod could either be sealed, or IB into the door panel window cavity. Processing is an ms8. Here's some pictures for better understanding: Sheet metal would be cut to allow the driver to sit back a few inches (2" - 3") Not currently used, just another mounting location. I know in the past Sean mentioned window reflection issues with using the dash area, but I'm just throwing it out there (whether it be good or bad.) New kicks that I started: As you can see, big shit, where as the tweeter and midrange alone in the kicks would take up little space. Cliff Notes: What are the advantages / disadvantages to mounting midbass drivers to the door? Speaker will be mounted in fiberglass panel, sealed or IB, securely bolted to door. Midrange and tweeters would be placed in kick panel area (more leg room). processing=ms8.

Where? You should definitely ban him. In the honda civic turbo wall build.

im not very familiar with the ms8. what can you do without the auto eq? can you still set TA, etc? i was under the impression that you pretty much have to use the auto tune then adjust the graphic eq to fit your tastes. iirc, i heard you could lower gains initially, prior to set up and auto calibration, then raise them afterwards to correct for the output loss. you could check quickly if adding another amp will help by bridging the eclipse to the mids and running the tweets off the ms8. actually, i would think bridging your current amp and adding a small amp for the tweets would be enough power.. With the processing off, the EQ, XO points and slopes, are maintained, but T/A and the ms8's "auto tune" on the FR goes away. I've tried calibration at several different volumes, and it does make a difference in end outcome, but not loudness. Once my new kicks are in, I'll try disconnecting the tweets and bridging the amp for just the mids, good idea. interesting idea. im not sure if im picturing how the port will be run... so the port will exit above the kicks, somewhere in the dash? im curious if the separation of woofer and port matter? would it be best for them to be closer and fire on the same plane? Imagine inside the dash the flex tube mounted to something, then it hangs down near the kickpanel area. I'd put a rubber grommet on the back of the kick pod (2.5" hole), and push the tube in about an inch (it'll be snug). The flex tube length will be based on kick panel area, port area, for a tuning around 70hz or so. The other end of the flex tube will simply be under the dash somewhere.

Not mine, I wish. I've been reading up on fiberglass and composite boat building forums to learn any tricks to the trade, and a general better understanding of all the different materials and applications. Ever get to hang out when they do some of their work? I hang out a lot, they happen to be building some parts for me. That's awesome. I also grabbed a few ebooks on boat repairs, never really put much thought into how much work goes into making them, pretty amazing stuff. Just random tidbits dry mat, covered in plastic, vacuum sucks out all the air, and valves open releasing resin. Or they measure impedance on a core material to see how much water moisture is present.

And the blackout begins. If your on wiki, you can always view source code and still read content if you really need.

Thinking of porting my kicks with some flex pvc tubing, 2.5" ID, Vent mach should be under 14 m/s, and should give a big peak in mid bass region, and I can always tone it down, and adjust transitioning per say. Anything wrong with flex tubing as a port, I figured I'd run it half way up the dash, then make a hole and grommet on back of kick for easy connection.
