Another which amp question
Just getting into car audio so be kind. I have 2 dvc rockford fosgate hx2 10's (500rms) Sealed 1.5cf box. I know these amps are overkill but eventually I will be upgrading my subs. Ive narrowed it down to 3 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23550_Hifonics-Brutus-BRZ2400.1D.html on my local clist theres a used aq2200 for $300 Sundown Audio SAZ1500D V1s for $275 Id consider the crescendo 2000 but its on backorder.. I'll also be doing the big 3 upgrade. I can add a second alternator and battery if needed, but i dont 'think' ill need to get that serious yet. Right now im more concerned with sound quality (I listen to alot of rock) than I am with brute force. But i think eventually ill want more sound pressure so I want an amp I can 'grow into'

Another Sub wiring question
First of all this is the equipment ill be talking about. Rockford Fosgate 800.2 old school (the amp that is blowing fuses) Pyle Driver Plad413 (4 channel) Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2 (DVC, 4ohm) ok I wired my subs up for the 2 channel amp like it says to do here, http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_4-ohm_2ch.jpg but that amp kept blowing fuses so in the meantime I am using the pyle 4 channel I bought to drive my regular speakers until the fosgate gets fixed. When i wired in the pyle I left the subs wired for a 2 channel amp but hooked them up to the amp like this http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_4-ohm_4ch.jpg Question is, will i notice a big difference if I rewire the subs the correct way? I ask because even though I know the pyle is nowhere near the amp the fosgate is, the subs dont even come close to hitting as hard as they used to with the fosgate amp. And they start to distort at about 35% when i turn the amp up

My first build (questions)
Yes they are rated at 750. Im a moron and totally forgot I needed to divide by the number of drivers (2) After reading your reply it prompted me to do some research, I didn't realize I couldnt run them at 2 ohms. I understand now though. Thanks for pointing that out. I havent gotten as far as thinking about electrical requirements yet, I know there' s a way to mount a saturn 110 amp alternator, I will do that considering my factory only pushes 90 amps unless you think I will need more than 110? Let me search 'big 3' and i'll get back to you lol Im going to try both of them =p I read your entire build log, very impressive

My first build (questions)
Thanks for the quick replies, exactly the info/advice I needed. I tested them this morning and they have dual 4 ohm voice coils. One thing I'm wondering after thinking about it, will it be worth using both drivers vs. only 1? Lets say for the moment we decide to use both drivers, and go with the sundown 1500d. Running them at 1ohm would push 1500 watts to them correct? Would it be safer to run them at 2 ohm and 800 watts considering the drivers are only rated at 750 RMS?

My first build (questions)
Ive been trolling here for awhile getting ideas and researching various things and I finally have a reason to post. Im posting because I need some advice. I had 2 15" alpine type R subs come way for dirt cheap. $150 for both I need help deciding on an enclosure, an amp, and even a head unit. I honestly dont know my 'goals' as its been a very long time since I have had a system. A long time ago when they were new I had 1 MTX 9500 sub that I really enjoyed. I listen to all kinds of music, mainly rap/pop and rock with some heavier stuff (Avenged Sevenfold) This will all be going into a 1998 Eclipse GSX As far as budget, im somewhat flexible, Lets say I'd like to stay under 1k. However if it takes more to do it right im ok with it. The only thing that I absolutely want is that the head unit has to be able to play mp3's from a usb drive I would really like to be able to use a Sundown amp as Ive heard great things but again im flexible if its needed to get the job done right. Here's a link to the sub's I have for easy reference: http://signature.crutchfield.com/S-64DLGMoy21c/s_500SWR1542/Alpine-SWR-1542D.html Thanks everyone and let me know if I forgot to supply any info.
